" Legitimate Rape " video spoof.
There are many who think this video spoof goes too far and claim it is offensive which by the way it is meant to be . The very idea of legitimate rape as opposed to phony rape charges is itself repugnant and offensive.
The video is criticized as not being very funny but this is a mistaken or erroneous belief that satire is supposed to be funny when in fact political and social satire often merely takes on an issue in a very literal and blatant manner and is as dark as it is funny as in films such as Dr. Strangelove, Brazil, Robocop, Starship Troopers, District 9, American Psycho, Natural Born Killers, War INC.,The Life of Brian or works of literature such as Gullivers Travels, Don Quixote, Candide and so on and so forth. This little video is not nearly as dark and in your face as it could have been.
"Legitimate Rape" Pharmaceutical Ad“It’s like regular birth control, except as imagined by crazy people.” A parody video mocks the concept of ‘legitimate rape’ made famous (and infamous) by US Representative and Missouri Republican Senatorial candidate Todd Akin.
The fake pharmaceutical ad has become a viral sensation online. In it, “legitimate rape” is mocked as the ultimate form of contraception: “Do you suffer from Sexually Liberated Uterine Tendencies [SLUT]? Now there's a treatment that can help: Legitimate rape,” the ad begins.
“Side effects of legitimate rape may include depression, nausea, insomnia, bruising and accusations that you’re just being hysterical,” the parody said. “Legitimate rape isn’t for everyone. To find out if it is right for you ask your doctor.” The ad then shows the narrator getting punched in the head, and she says: “Ask your congressman.”
In the notorious statement made by Akin during a recent interview with the KTVI television station, Akin suggested that “legitimate rape” rarely produces pregnancy because “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
And the video pulls no punches when it comes to Akin’s statement: “It’s like regular birth control, except as imagined by crazy people,” the ad says, referring to Akin.
GOP spreading the hate .
As we see the preaching of hate against all Muslims and of Islam has consequences .
In America preaching hate or even the elimination of individuals or groups is seen as a matter of free speech. The Islamophobes are especially outraged if someone dares to question their right to preach hate against Islam and Muslim Americans.
Islamophobia has become as it were part of the ideology of the Republican Party .
What is outrages is that the Islamophobes such as Michelle Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh , Michael Savage, Ann Coulter and Fox News and the GOP disingenuously argue that their bigotry and their incessant incinderary Hate Speech has nothing to do with Americans who decide to commit acts of violence and Hate Speech against Muslim Americans.
Besides these professional Islamophobes the media often is almost as bad because of its biased or lack of coverage of incidents of hate against Muslims in America.
Mainstream Media downplays or ignores Islamophobia in the USA
Joplin Mosque on Fire Second Time This Summer 2012.
After the recent Sikh Temple shooting Deepak Chopra talks to Piers Morgan about the need for better gun control and for more honesty about widespread bigotry and racism in the USA.
He also addresses the issue of racism, bigotry and xenophobia and ethnocentrism in America.
The shooter at the Sikh Temple didn't or wasn't able to differentiate between a Sikh Temple and a Muslim Mosque since as far as he was concerned anyone sporting a beard and a turban is an enemy of America. Some on the right see this as a tragedy because the shooter mistook Sikhs for Muslims as if it would have been somehow less of a tragedy if the shooter had killed Muslim Americansas opposed to Sikh Americans.

also see Chris Mathews as he weighs in on these crazy Muslim American conspiracy theories drummed up by Michelle bachmann and her ilk.
As Chris Mathews points out that the GOP including Mitt Romney are all too happy to allow these conspiracy theories to circulate because it fires up their anti-Muslim racist base which is then translated into votes for Mitt Romney and the GOP in November. We should recall we saw this same sort of dog- whistle racism and bigotry on display by the GOP in the 2008 election.
