Rich Americans Misinterpreting Bruce Springsteen & The Hysteria By Conservatives Over SCOTUS Pro-Obamcare Ruling

US Supreme Court reaffirms the constitutionality and legality of The Obama administration's healthcare Refom Bill .

Obama in his speech reminds Americans that this is not just a victory for him or his administration but is even more importanly a victory for average Americans.
As the richest country in the world it was disgraceful that average Americans did not have affordable health care.

This as others have said is the sort of speech Obama should have been making all along in reference to Healthcare. Obama should have driven home the notion that affordable Health Care shouldn't be a privilege but rather a right .

President Obama Speaks on Health Reform

Published on 28 Jun 2012 by whitehouse
The Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act ensures hard-working, middle class families will get the security they deserve and protects every American from the worst insurance company abuses. June 28, 2012.

First a note to American conservatives Bruce Springsteen is not an uberconservative and is even critical of the American government when he thinks its necessary that is under the Reagan Regime and the George W. Bush Regime.

For some reason the conservatives and their ilk misinterpret Springsteen's somewhat cynical song Born in the USA as if it were some sort of pro-American rock anthem which it is not. The poblem is that many people hear the refrain/chorus and don't pay attention to the rest of the lyrics which points out America's flaws .

The song highlights the injustices visited upon working class and ordinary Americans by an out of touch elite whether they call themselves conservative or liberal. They are all part of the problem. So Springsteen writes about the effects of out-sourcing American jobs of the problems of poverty and low wages and homelessness and how people lose their homes due to economic injustice and the ignorance and lack of compassion of the ruling class.

Springsteen is also notably cynical in his anti-police violence and racism in his song 41 shots or American skin pointing out that some police officers or even the entire police force in some areas in the USA feel they have the right to pump as many as 41 bullets into a supposedly suspicious Black Man. To many police officers even today in America treat all Black people as suspects especially when outside an all Black designated area ie the Ghettoes . So as in the case of Trayvon Williams a few months back was treated as a suspicious person by a self-appointed vigilante who was then defended by the police and large numbers of white Americans. Trayvon's crime was being black and wearing a hoodie in an upscale gated community .

Memo to Rich Conservatives -- Bruce Springsteen Doesn't Love You Back In contrast to an overpaid, clueless pundit or a blustering New Jersey governor, Bruce is the ultimate populist artist. by Sarah Jaffe at Alternet, June 27,2012

What is it about Bruce Springsteen that causes conservatives to so spectacularly miss the point? Politicians like Chris Christie and pundits like the Heritage Foundation's Mike Brownfield persist in trying to claim Springsteen for themselves, to read some hidden support for their own politics in his lyrics.

Witness the recent case of David Brooks, in a recent New York Times column. Brooks' first sentence couldn't be more out of touch, more anti-Springsteen if it tried: “They say you’ve never really seen a Bruce Springsteen concert until you’ve seen one in Europe, so some friends and I threw financial sanity to the winds and went to follow him around Spain and France.“

Not only does he take the quintessential American artist and place him in Europe, but he's throwing “financial sanity to the winds” at a time when the Boss (no pauper himself, to be sure) is singing about the unemployed, the desperate, and most importantly, those who take care of their neighbors. You know, at home.

He snarkily contrasts the Iberian peninsula with “some other exotic locale on the Jersey Shore” and then devolves (if that was even possible) into some bizarre analysis of how people singing along with Bruce to “Born in the USA” while in Europe is evidence of their deep need for “a passionate and highly localized moral landscape,” whatever that means. And the lesson is that young people still like Springsteen even if a few paragraphs up Brooks was arguing that mostly Springsteen fans are in their “AARP years” (and that crowds in Europe are loud?) and maybe it's because he stayed true to his roots. And didn't embrace pluralism and sample different styles – or something -- or ever take on different characters or sing about places that weren't New Jersey. Oh, wait.

And now more on the response to the pro-Obama Care ruling by the GOP and conservatives in the USA.

As Joshua Holland in this recent article points out the over-the-top reaction to Obamacare being reaffirmed by the Supreme Court of Untied Satates. This win for Obama is seen as a great battle lost by the conservative movement which includes the GOP, The Tea Party gang, the religious right . This victory of the Obama administration is seen as the final straw by those on the right. This leads to incomprehension and hysteria by the Conservatives comparing the court ruling as worse than 9/11 attacks; the end of America as a democracy; to the shredding of the US Constitution to surmising that the more conservative member of the court was coerced in some way by threats against his family: to suggesting leaving the USA for a less leftist nation to calling for armed insurrection , revolution to ousting the "evil Progressives" who have had an undue influence over the Supreme Court.

And the American peoples self-proclaimed champion and voice of "real Americans" and the "Folk" as Glenn beck says "progressivism is a disease and it is in both parties." and describes Progressives as fascists.
Note Beck sees the ruling by the Supreme Court as part of the ongoing hundred year long Conspiracy to utterly change America into a "socialist or Fascist state by "Progressives" liberals, secular humanists or what have you.

Beck's appeal to this conspiracy theory leads him to use eliminatist style language as he refers to progressivism as a disease. If it is a disease then it must be cured by removing all progressives from the government or other American institutions by force if necessary

The 10 Most Hilariously Unhinged Right-Wing Reactions to the Obamacare Ruling Over-the-top? You betcha! by Joshua Holland at Alternet,June 28, 2012

When Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker beat back a recall effort, we learned that conservatives aren't exactly gracious in victory. On Thursday, when Chief Justice John Roberts joined the Supreme Court's moderate bloc to uphold ObamaCare, we discovered that the Right is nothing less than unhinged in defeat.

The remarkable thing about the heated debates about the law over the last three years is just how modest these reforms really are, especially when one considers how screwed up our healthcare system was to begin with.

The reality is that there is no "government takeover" underway. Some lower-middle-class families are going to get some subsidies to buy insurance, maybe ten million or so more poor people will be eligible for Medicaid. Insurers will get some new regulations that are popular even among Republicans.

And with Thursday's ruling, the government can no longer mandate that you carry insurance, it can only levy a small tax on those who don't. The real-world impact of that? Only an estimated 1 percent of the population will face the tax – a tax that maxes out at 1 percent -- and it may not even be enforceable!

But for the Right, a moderate expansion of health coverage and some new insurance regulations are, simply put, the worst things that ever happened. How bad is it? Well imagine that in the midst of the Holocaust, a meteor crashed to earth, destroying the entire planet. And as planet Earth exploded, it opened up a tear in the space-time continuum that swallowed up the entire galaxy. Thursday's ruling was, apparently, almost that bad.

For your reading pleasure, we've collected some of the most hilariously over-the-top freakouts we've seen.

SCOTUS Affirms Obama's Health Care Bill :Rachel Maddow: Health Care Is A Right & " Fast And Furious Conspiracy Theory" #FAIL

Rachel Maddow: A victory for problem-solving policy

And on the Republican's Trumped up "Fast And Furious Conspiracy Theory " falls apart proven as being GOP and NRA invented fabrication to be used to attack Eric Holder and President Obama.
Rachel Maddow explains how this whole scandal was not based upon facts or reality based.
In fact the only scandal as such was that US authorities when trying to make arrest in Arizona they were blocked by Arizona laws which allow for citizens of 18 years old to purchase all the gun they want with no waiting period and it is legal for them to pass on these weapons to other people .
So the sandal is America's lax Gun control laws and not a failure of federal law enforcement agencies ie ATF or FBI etc.

Supreme Court Upholds Obama's Health Care While GOP Vote To Hold AG Holder In Contempt

Congress votes to hold AG Eric Holder in contempt while the Democrat members walked out in protest.
The Contempt charge is just more GOP bullying style policticing as part of their main agenda to make sure the first Black President of America will get defeated and will only serve one term. Fox News and the rightwing racist conservative pundits including Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Dobson, Coulter, Bachmann, Michael Savage , Sara Palin , John McCain have taken control of the republican party and want to oust President Obama anyway they can. Their platform of more austerity and tax breaks for the rich and promises to make America into a truly Christian Nation has little attraction beyond their extremist base so all they can do is find ways to discredit the Obama administration.

What may end up being somewhat ironic is that the GOP gambit might work against a president who refused to take action against the previous Bush administration which was guilty of a multitude of crimes and showing a complete disrespect for the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights . While the republicans were in power they lied and bamboozled the US mainstream Media and the American public in taking the USA to war in Iraq and allowing the abuse and torture of Prisoners of War.
Obama could have taken the former administration and those bureaucrats who did what was asked of them thereby themselves contravening American Laws and International Law.

GOP representatives Boehner and Cantor reply to supreme court decision in favor of Obama Care by insisting the Republicans will do what they can repeal Obama Care before or after the election in November.

Pelosi praises the Supreme Court decision on Health Care Bill and says it is an historic day affirming Health Care as a Right For all American Citizens and not just a privilege for the few.

Hate-Speech: Amazon makes money selling Islamophobic ebooks & Racist "Swiss People's Party" Calls For Kristallnacht For Mosques

These images and speech against Islam are examples of Hate Speech if not banned at least on the net should come with a warning and disclaimer.
One might read such a book for educational and research purposes that is researching bigotry, prejudices and racism and propaganda in this specific case for researching Islamophobia Propaganda comparing it to other forms of racist and religious bigotry ie Anti-Semitism.

This sort of propaganda against Islam is not that different than attacks made by anti-semitic literature such as the bogus anti-semitic tract "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" which unfortunately is still in circulation. Islamophobes themselves borrow a great deal from The Protocols to develop their own conspiracy theories about Muslims in Europe or America .

Amazon accused of peddling hate-speech ,eliminationist speech against Islam and Muslims.

Islamophobia Watch - Documenting anti Muslim bigotry - Amazon makes money selling Islamophobic ebooks
Amazon has been accused of making money selling offensive, racist and potentially dangerous ebooks on subjects ranging from bomb-making to drug growing. The internet giant sells a vast number of ebooks, downloaded by readers from its website, some for as little as £1. It allows anyone to upload an ebook for sale, without safeguards against content that would be refused by traditional publishers. One ebook, Prophet Muhammad: Monster of History, includes images of a Koran being burned and a woman being hanged. The author, Jake Neuman, says of its content on his own website: "The writings contained in this book are now illegal in most Western countries." But users of can access his work at the click of a mouse.
The Muslim Council of Britain has now called for Amazon to "take proper responsibility" for the content of the books on its site. They added: "Freedom of expression should not be unlimited, and publications that cause anti-Muslim hatred, anti-Jewish hatred or homophobic hatred should not be allowed." Any potential self-publisher can use Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing service to upload their ebook for sale, charging as little as 77p to potential readers.
Amazon instructs self-publishers to adhere to "content guidelines", stating, for example, that "we don't accept pornography". But critics say the company does not go far enough. Labour MP Paul Flynn said: "If Amazon is providing the platform for books that wouldn't be published otherwise, it is responsible. This is a cavalier attitude to inflammatory material." Daily Mail, 25 June 2012 Via ENGAGE

And another shades of Kristallnacht moment (seeIisrael's Kristallnacht against African immigrants)when a Swiss politician of the SVP Swiss People's Party stated that those opposed to Islam in his country should have a Kristallnacht for Mosques and Muslims to send a message that they are not wanted in Switzerland. SVP politician urges new Kristallnacht for mosques by Islamophobia Watch, June 26,2012
Alexander Müller, a Zurich politician from the far-right Swiss People's Party has caused outrage by appearing to call for "another Kristallnacht" in a hateful anti-Islamic tweet. The offending message, which has since been taken down from Müller's @DailyTalk account, said: "Maybe we need another Kristallnacht… this time for mosques."
The Zurich prosecutor is considering whether to launch a formal criminal investigation into Müller, who also works as a school nurse. "It is possible that the Twitter post breached the criminal provisions on racism," Corinne Bouvard, spokeswoman for the Zurich prosecutor's office, told the website.
The Young Greens have also called for Müller's immediate resignation from his position as school nurse. Müller denies writing the post, and has alleged that someone forged it, newspaper Tages Anzeiger reported. In other tweets, he has previously been seen to make fun of beauty contests in Saudi Arabia, voiced his opposition to integration and the "Islamization" of the country, and accused Muslims of trying to litter the country with mosques and minarets. The Local, 26 June 2012 Via Loonwatch and Islamophobia Today
Update: Müller has since admitted that he was responsible for the tweet and has resigned from the SVP. His employer has also terminated his contract. Müller is under criminal investigation and has had his house searched by police and his computer confiscated. The JTA reports that Dr Herbert Winter, president of the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities, has condemned Muller's comment as "very offensive" to both Jews and Muslims because it "implies that Muslims deserve Kristallnacht treatment as the Jews deserved it in 1938".

For reality check see: "Muslim Americans: No Signs of Growth in Alienation or Support for Extremism Mainstream and Moderate Attitudes POLL " at Pew Forum On Religion and Public Life, August 30, 2011
As the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, a comprehensive public opinion survey finds no indication of increased alienation or anger among Muslim Americans in response to concerns about home-grown Islamic terrorists, controversies about the building of mosques, and other pressures that have been brought to bear on this high-profile minority group in recent years. Muslims in the United States continue to reject extremism by much larger margins than most other Muslim publics, and a higher percentage views U.S. efforts to combat terrorism as sincere than did so in 2007.
At the same time, majorities of Muslim Americans express concerns about Islamic extremism here and abroad – worries that coexist with the view that life in post-9/11 America is more difficult for U.S. Muslims. Based on interviews with 1,033 Muslim Americans conducted this year (April 14-July 22) in English, Arabic, Farsi and Urdu, the wide-ranging report looks at Muslim Americans’ political and social attitudes; religious views and practices; experiences and difficulties faced after 9/11; views of Islamic extremism; views of U.S. efforts at combating terrorism; and views of national conditions. In addition to updating trends from earlier Pew Research surveys, the report includes comparisons of Muslim Americans with the general public and with Muslims in other countries, as well as detailed demographic information.
The Pew research shows a growth of the number of Muslims in the USA " rising from 2.6 million in 2010 to 6.2 million in 2030 ... The Muslim share of the U.S. population (adults and children) is projected to grow from 0.8% in 2010 to 1.7% in 2030, making Muslims roughly as numerous as Jews or Episcopalians are in the United States today." So the threat of the USA being flooded and overwhelmed by the Muslim American population is an exaggeration and a result of scaremongering against Muslim Americans. This is a far cry from the figures exaggerated by anti-Islamic individuals and groups in the USA. For instance in a recent article the Muslim population was erroneously calculated to be currently 6 million Muslim Americans. Even president Obama has used erroneous figures from 4 to 6 million Muslim Americans for his own political reasons . Screen shot of graph Pew Research

and : The Future of the Global Muslim Population Projections for 2010-2030 , at Pew Forum, ANALYSIS January 27, 2011

If current trends continue, however, 79 countries will have a million or more Muslim inhabitants in 2030, up from 72 countries today.1 A majority of the world’s Muslims (about 60%) will continue to live in the Asia-Pacific region, while about 20% will live in the Middle East and North Africa, as is the case today.
But Pakistan is expected to surpass Indonesia as the country with the single largest Muslim population. The portion of the world’s Muslims living in sub-Saharan Africa is projected to rise; in 20 years, for example, more Muslims are likely to live in Nigeria than in Egypt. Muslims will remain relatively small minorities in Europe and the Americas, but they are expected to constitute a growing share of the total population in these regions.
In the United States, for example, the population projections show the number of Muslims more than doubling over the next two decades, rising from 2.6 million in 2010 to 6.2 million in 2030, in large part because of immigration and higher-than-average fertility among Muslims.
The Muslim share of the U.S. population (adults and children) is projected to grow from 0.8% in 2010 to 1.7% in 2030, making Muslims roughly as numerous as Jews or Episcopalians are in the United States today. Although several European countries will have substantially higher percentages of Muslims, the United States is projected to have a larger number of Muslims by 2030 than any European countries other than Russia and France.

US Rep. Louie Gohmert And Michelle Bachmann et al Claim US Gov't Infiltrated By Muslim Jihadists & AG Holder Should Resign

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- More than 4 in 10 Americans (43%) admit to feeling at least "a little" prejudice toward Muslims -- more than twice the number who say the same about Christians (18%), Jews (15%) and Buddhists (14%). The findings are based on a new Gallup Center for Muslim Studies report, "Religious Perceptions in America: With an In-Depth Analysis of U.S. Attitudes Toward Muslims and Islam,"...

Glenn beck offers up a new video about Obama 's connection to the Muslim Brotherhood which Beck and other Islamophobes say is a violent Jihadists organization.

Note the use of the word "tentacles" refering to Muslim conspiracy but historically the word "tentacles" was used to refer to the bogus Jewish Conspiracy and included pictures of an octobus holding the globe.

Eric Holder Covers Up for Radical Islamists by: Ryan Mauro at Radical Islam .org, June 26, 2012
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is in the spotlight after the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to hold him in contempt because he is refusing to provide documents related to the Fast and the Furious scandal. But there's another scandal you should know about.

For over one year, he (AG Holder) has refused to hand over documents about the Muslim Brotherhood network in the U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), vice chairman of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, confronted Holder about the matter on Thursday, June 21. Rep. Gohmert wants Congress to have access to documents from the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history. Five Foundation officials were found guilty of funding Hamas and evidence introduced by the federal government shows it was set up by the Muslim Brotherhood's secret "Palestine Committee" in the U.S.

Radical Islam - Emotions High at Fifth Hearing

Published on 20 Jun 2012 by 0MadeInEngland1
June 20, 2012 - WASHINGTON - In a packed room on Capitol Hill Wednesday, sparks flew as the House Homeland Security Committee held its fifth hearing on radical Islam.

Members of the committee tried to address the problem without appearing anti-Muslim.

From the beginning, critics have compared Republican chairman Rep. Peter King to former Sen. Joseph McCarthy, who sought to rout out communists within the United States during the late 1940s and 1950s.

Citing poll numbers that show 63 percent of Americans approve of the hearings, King convened this one to gauge Muslim reaction.

If Congress thinks it is appropriate to have hearings on the supposedly radicalization of Muslim Americans then why not have hearings on the radicalization that may or may not be taking place within other religious groups including Christians -IE Reconstructionism and Dominionism the Seven Mountains Prophecy, Battle Cry! and other radical Christian Evangelical movements. .
Of course such a suggestion is seen as anti-Christian by many Christian Americans .
But consider the killing of abortion providers and burning down and blowing up abortion clinics or beating up and killing Gay Americans aren't these also serious issues which involve various religious organizations including Christians .

A Family Affair: Clintons Combat 'Islamophobia' by Diana West at,June 21, 2012

Almost exactly three years ago, President Obama addressed "Muslims around the world" from Egypt's al-Azhar U in Cairo. He said he "consider[ed] it part of [his] responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear."

As Geert Wilders writes in his must-read book Marked for Death: "I remember thinking, But what if these so-called `negative stereotypes of Islam' are the truth?-- will you denouce people for telling the truth? And if violent Islam is really just a `negative stereotype,' then why have I had to live like a virtual prisoner for more than four years [now more than seven years] due to threats from Muslims?"

Among America's elites, such questions don't even break the surface stillness. This is due to the de facto rule in the US of Islamic laws against "slander" which have been embraced, duck-to-water-style, by these same elites. In accordance with sharia, "Islamophobia" has become the target of their ire, much as "anti-anti-Communism" was more than half a century ago.

Take the Clintons, which have make the fight against Islamophobia a family affair

Infamously, SecState Hillary Clinton has teamed up with the OIC -- the Islamic body dedicated to imposing Islamic law on the world even as it awaits the "liberation" of Jerusalem so it can move its HQ there from Jeddah -- to "shame" Americans into silence on Islam: Silence on its supremacism, its crimes, its repressions, its totalitarianism, its collectivism, and, of course, silence on jihad. Heavens, just a few facts about these subjects would certainly inflame the very "Islamophobia" Hillary and the OIC have committed themselves (and this country) to fight. And never mind that pesky First Amendment. The Islamic law against "slander" -- which includes anything negative about Islam (even the truth) -- trumps all.

Just to underscore the Islamic conception of "slander," here is a brief excerpt from an extensive essay on the topic at Gates of Vienna by Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, who quotes Reliance of the Traveler, a highly authoritative Sunni law book.

"Do you know what slander is?” … “It is to mention of your brother that which he would dislike."

"The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim. He does not betray him, lie to him, or hang back from coming to his aid. All of the Muslim is inviolable to his fellow Muslim: his reputation, his property, his blood."

Elisabeth writes:

Therefore, if a non-Muslim says something about Islam that is true, but which Muslims do not want infidels to know, he is still guilty of slander under Islam. This is far different from a Western understanding of slander.

She continues:

Every rule must have its exceptions, and slander under Islam is no different. There are six reasons for permitting slander, but I will list only one of them, “Permissible Slander,” r2.16:

Again, from Reliance of the Traveler:

"Slander, though unlawful, is sometimes permissible for a lawful purpose, …the legitimating factor being that there is some aim countenanced by sacred law that is unattainable by other means."

Elisabeth writes: So if a Muslim cannot advance sacred law except by deceiving someone, he is allowed to deceive that person.

From what I have read the notion of lying being permitted is only under certain conditions such as to save someone's life including one's own. For instance if someone is made to take an oath of loyalty to a government in order to remain in the country or to keep one's livelihood even if it means going against the tenets of one's religion it may be acceptable.

Or if a Shia Muslim knows that the authorities are arresting all Shia Muslims it becomes a matter of self-preservation to lie even about one's religion.
The individual may decide to brazenly admit to what their religion is and thereby become a Martyr but does the individual have the right to put all of their own family and community in danger. Sometimes it is better to fight another day.

A religious community fearing oppression and possible elimination may decide to for the time being lie about their religious beliefs not just to protect one self or one's community but further to keep the community safe in order to continue with one's religious beliefs. Such notions of lying have been sanctioned at various times of oppression in various religions including Christians and Jews to ensure the community and the religion are not completely wiped out.

Its like the ethical conundrum of knowing lying is immoral but when a run away slave or someone who is being unjustly persecuted to whom you have allowed to take shelter in one's home when the authorities come knocking and ask if you have seen such and such a person or are protecting them then the higher law of defending a life trumps lying . To any sane rational being there is always going to be exceptions to any moral law or that the moral law may also trump the secular law or the law of the state or those in authority even those who are part of a religious authority.

also see Daniel Pipes who gives a veneer of scholarly objectiveness to the Hate Mongering about the majority of Muslims around the globe and especially in his view the more dangerous "stealth jihadists" operating in the the USA and other nations in the West.
What seems quite incredible if not unbelievable  is the number of journalists and politicians and scholars these so-called "Stealth Jihadists" are able to fool. So how is it that only Daniel Pipes or David Horowitz and a few others are able to ferret out these wily "Jihadists". Like the McCarthyites the Islamophobes have some sort of mysterious or magical powers to uncloak these evil individuals when on one else is able to.

Which Muslims in the West support Islamism, which do not? Stealth Islamist: Khaled Abou El Fadl, by Daniel Pipes Middle East Quarterly 2004
Those who have Al-Qaeda connections or deal in terrorism are relatively easy to classify, once they are found out. The state has ways to investigate and punish illegal activities. In September 2003, for example, Taysir Alony, a star reporter for the Al-Jazeera television network, was arrested in Spain on charges of belonging to Al-Qaeda. In the United States, Abdurahman Alamoudi, "a well-heeled advocate who had represented American Muslims in White House meetings," was arrested on terrorism-related charges.
But what about individuals who apparently break no laws but promote an Islamist agenda in a legal fashion, sometimes from within the heart of the establishment? One case is that of the renowned Swiss-French intellectual Tariq Ramadan, hailed by some as a moderate—a man who has stayed within the law but is believed by some to have Al-Qaeda connections.[3] Another is Bashir Nafi, who teaches at the University of London but in February 2003 was indicted at a U.S. District Court in Florida as someone who "supported numerous violent terrorist activities associated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad."
Then there is the case of Khaled Medhat Abou El Fadl. Born in 1963, he is a professor of law at the University of California in Los Angeles, visiting professor of law at Yale Law School, President George W. Bush's appointee to the Commission on International Religious Freedom, a consultant to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, an expert state witness in major court cases, an advisor to major law firms, and a writer for prestigious publications. As this listing of his achievements suggests, Abou El Fadl has a reputation as a "Muslim moderate."
Here are a few of his exuberant press clippings: The Boston Globe:
Abou El Fadl is "a moderate voice urging Muslims in the United States and elsewhere to speak out against radical elements of Islam."
The Jerusalem Post: one of the few Muslims who "take a stand despite the [personal] risks" in favor of a "pluralistic, tolerant and non-violent Islam."
Los Angeles Daily News: "a leading critic of Islamic radicalism."
Los Angeles Times: a "longtime champion of human rights."
National Review: "one of the most formidable weapons in the battle against Islamic fundamentalism."
The New Republic: a heroic moderate who announces, "There may need to be sacrificial lambs. I'm going to play this role and speak my conscience."

To judge from Abou El Fadl's press, he is a path-breaking and fearless antidote to extremism. But there is a body of other evidence suggesting that he is something other than the "moderate voice" his admirers believe or hope him to be.
Wahhabi Menace
Abou El Fadl's signature issue, the one that has most established his reputation as a moderate, involves his outspoken opposition to the Saudi regime. But one can be an Islamist, and even a radical one, and also take a stand against Wahhabism. Ayatollah Khomeini, and indeed the entire school of Shi'ite radicalism, provides a dramatic example of this pattern. After a confrontation with Saudi security forces during the pilgrimage to Mecca in 1987, which left hundreds of Iranians dead, Khomeini raged against "these vile and ungodly Wahhabis, [who] are like daggers which have always pierced the heart of the Muslims from the back."

Bachmann's Muslim Conspiracy & Anders Beivik and SCOTUS Citizens United & Arizona's "Papers Please" Law

Like her hero Joseph McCarthy Michelle Bachmann has a list of names of Communists Jihadists Muslims in the US government conspiring to take over America
 Feb 9, 1950:
McCarthy says communists are in State Department via

"During a speech in Wheeling, West Virginia, Senator Joseph McCarthy (Republican-Wisconsin) claims that he has a list with the names of over 200 members of the Department of State that are "known communists." The speech vaulted McCarthy to national prominence and sparked a nationwide hysteria about subversives in the American government."

To be sure, McCarthy was not the first to incite anxiety about subversive communists. Congress had already investigated Hollywood for its supposed communist influences, and former State Department employee Alger Hiss was convicted of perjury in January 1950 for testimony dealing with accusations that he spied for the Soviet Union during the 1930s. But McCarthy went a step further, claiming that the U.S. government, and the Department of State in particular, knew that communists were working in their midst.

"McCarthyism," as the hunt for communists in the United States came to be known during the 1950s, did untold damage to many people's lives and careers, had a muzzling effect on domestic debate on Cold War issues, and managed to scare millions of Americans. McCarthy, however, located no communists and his personal power collapsed in 1954 when he accused the Army of coddling known communists. Televised hearings of his investigation into the U.S. Army let the American people see his bullying tactics and lack of credibility in full view for the first time, and he quickly lost support. The U.S. Senate censured him shortly thereafter and he died in 1957.

Muslims Taking Over U.S. Government - Michele Bachmann

Published on 25 Jun 2012 by TheYoungTurks
"Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is no stranger to outlandish conspiracy theories but the former GOP presidential primary candidate took her theories to a new height in an interview earlier this week with the American Family Assocation's Sandy Rios. Bachmann claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated various department of the U.S. government...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks down Bachmann's absurd conspiracy.

We may be too willing to discount this conspiracy nonsense spouted by Michelle Bach Mann and others but such nonsense can be used to justify not just hate or fear but also committing acts of violence assaults on the so called Muslim Enemy in our midst and those who defend and shelter these supposed enemies. Islamophobia like any such bigotry can lead to tragedy as in the case of Norwegian Anders Breivik who murdered 77 people whom he believed were giving cover and comfort to this Islamic "Enemy within" or "fifth columnists".

Breivik in his twisted mind  believes that the liberals, progressives and others who believe in an open society that is in pluralism and multiculturalism are aiding the Muslims in the West to destroy Western Civilization. He believes he was killing the enemies ie young socialists who are the enemies of White Christian Europe once known as Christendom. Those who preach such hate in their books and in the media helped to fuel Beiveks paranoid delusions so that he can actually in his mind portray himself as a hero the last or the first of the new Knights Templar.

Breivik took his cue from the writings and speeches of known Islamophobes who's over the top rhetoric hysterically warns of "Stealth Jihad" in order to institute according to their over-worked imaginations Sharia Law throughout the West including Europe And America. One need only listen to the Islamophobia leaders or spokesperson to see how they stir the pot possibly hoping for violent acts to be committed against innocent Muslim citizens in America and the West. So Breivik in many ways is their creation. One could point the finger at Michelle Bachmann, or Pam Geller of AtlasShruggs and of Stop The Islamization of America ,Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch or Newt Gingrich and Glenn Beck and a host of others who make their living off of selling irrational fear to their easily manipulated followers who buy their books, donate to the cause , pay these self-proclaimed Islamic experts to speak at various venues.

Supreme Court Reverses Anti-Citizens United Ruling In Montana

Published on 25 Jun 2012 by TheYoungTurks
"The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday struck down Montana's century-old limits on corporate political spending, putting an end to the state's resistance to Citizens United and effectively expanding that controversial ruling to the state and local elections. Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, decided in January 2010, struck down federal limits on campaign spending by corporations and unions as violations of the First Amendment. Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing on behalf of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, reached the bold conclusion that "independent expenditures, including those made by corporations, do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption," and therefore "[n]o sufficient governmental interest justifies limits on the political speech of nonprofit or for-profit corporations"...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down, including the conservative hypocrisy on states' rights.

Note that Nichols in his article points out that Unions do not have the same freedom as corporations in spending money on political campaigns and candidates.

Supreme Court Extends Power of Corporations to Buy Elections by John Nichols at The Nation via Common Dreams June 25, 2012

The U.S. Supreme Court may still retain some familiarity with the Constitution when it comes to deciding the nuances of cases involving immigration policy and lifetime incarceration. But when it comes to handing off control of American democracy to corporations, the court continue to reject the intents of the founders and more than a century of case law to assure that CEOs are in charge.

Make no mistake, this is not a "free speech" or "freedom of association" stance by the court's Republican majority. That majority is narrowing the range of debate. It is picking winners. To turn a phrase from the old union song, this court majority has decided which side it is on.

The same court that in January, 2010, ruled with the Citizens United decision that corporations can spend freely in federal elections -- enjoying the same avenues of expression as human beings -- on Monday ruled that states no longer have the ability to guard against what historically has been seen as political corruption and the buying of elections.

The court's 5-4 decision in the Montana case of American Tradition Partnership v. Bullock significantly expands the scope and reach of the Citizens United ruling by striking down state limits on corporate spending in state and local elections. "The question presented in this case is whether the holding of Citizens United applies to the Montana state law,” the majority wrote. “There can be no serious doubt that it does.”

Not with the same freedom or flexibility that they had from the 1930s until this year. Last Thursday, the court erected elaborate new barriers to participation in elections by public-sector unions -- requiring that they get affirmative approval from members before making special dues assessments to fund campaigns countering corporations.

... U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent who has emerged as a leading proponent of moves to amend the U.S. Constitution to restore the rule of law in elections, says: “The U.S. Supreme Court’s absurd 5-4 ruling two years ago in Citizens United was a major blow to American democratic traditions. Sadly, despite all of the evidence that Americans see every day, the court continues to believe that its decision makes sense."

When billionaires can "spend hundreds of millions of dollars to buy this election for candidates who support the super-wealthy," argues Sanders, "this is not democracy. This is plutocracy. And that is why we must overturn Citizens United if we are serious about maintaining the foundations of American democracy.

Sanders says he will step up his efforts to enact a constitutional amendment to overturn not just the Citizens United ruling but the democratically disastrous rulings that extend from it.

“In his famous speech at Gettysburg during the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln talked about America as a country ‘of the people, by the people and for the people.’ Today, as a result of the Supreme Court’s refusal to reconsider its decision in Citizens United, we are rapidly moving toward a nation of the super-rich, by the super-rich and for the super-rich," explains Sanders. "That is not what America is supposed to be about. This Supreme Court decision must be overturned.”

How might it work? If Wal-Mart wanted to support candidates who promised to eliminate all taxes for Wal-Mart, the corporation could spend unlimited amounts of money. It would not need to gain stockholder approval. It can just go for it.

But if AFSCME wants to counter Wal-Mart argument, saying that eliminating taxes on out-of-state retailers will save consumers very little but will ultimate undermine funding for schools and public services, the union will have to go through the laborious process of gaining permission from tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of members. And, even then, it will face additional reporting and structural barriers imposed by the court.

High Court Produces a Politics of, by and for Corporations John Nichols at The, June 21, 2012

The most politically partisan—and politically activist—Supreme Court in modern American history has already assumed that, when it comes to electioneering, corporations have pretty much the same rights as human beings. Indeed, the High Court’s Citizens United ruling has given corporations unprecedented flexibility to act on their own behalf to influence election campaigns and results.

Yet, the same Court has now said that groups of actual human beings—trade unions that have organized public-sector workers—must sacrifice their flexibility in order to meet standards never before demanded of labor organizations.

Supreme Court Upholds Arizona's Racial Profiling Law :Today's ruling rejects 3 provisions of Arizona's SB 1070, allows for racial profiing provision by Common Dreams staff,June25,2012

Today the United States Supreme Court has invalidated three of the provisions of Arizona's immigration law but has upheld its controversial "show me your papers" provision.

RT reports that "The high court’s ruling decided that Arizona’s policies of imprisoning undocumented immigrants for not possessing federal registration cards was unjust, and that the state could also not make it a crime for illegal immigrants to seek work or for state and local law enforcement agencies to arrest immigrants without a warrant."

Center for Constitutional Rights Executive Director Vince Warren finds the Court's decision to uphold the "show me your papers" provision of Arizona's immigration law, which allows police to demand proof of immigration status of anyone they stop or detain, disappointing. "In upholding Section 2(B) of SB 1070, the Supreme Court has legitimized reactionary state law ordinances that encourage widespread racial profiling, multiply wrongful arrests, and spread fear in communities of color. Today’s decision allows individual states to create a patchwork system of immigration enforcement and in effect undoes decades of precedent holding that regulation of immigration is an exclusively federal function. The Supreme Court has sent the disheartening message that it is willing to turn back the clock to a 'states’ rights' era in which the federal courts have no role in protecting the civil rights of people of color," stated Warren.

Angela Maria Kelley, Vice President for Immigration Policy at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, agrees that this provision leads to racial profiling. "This 'papers please' provision will directly lead to racial and ethnic profiling based on the way people look or the way they speak, regardless of whether they have been American citizens all of their lives," Kelley stated today.

Greedy Gay Republicans & GOP No Abortions For Incest/Rape & Israel's Shades of "Kristallnacht"

"Blacks out!" shouted demonstrators. Some yelled "Send the Sudanese back to Sudan," several media reports said, as other protesters derided the "bleeding-heart leftists" working to help them.
Most reports said the rally turned nasty after the crowd was whipped up by several racist speeches by right-wing MPs, several of them from the ruling Likud party of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"The infiltrators are a cancer in our body," Likud MP Miri Regev told the crowd, as fellow MP Danny Danon shouted: "The infiltrators must be expelled from Israel! Expulsion now!"

"Kansas Board of Health Revokes License Of Doctor For Not Forcing 10 Year Olds To Give Birth" by Robin Marty via,June 25,2012

In a continuing effort to both curb access to abortion and reiterate their own opinion that there is never any situation where abortion could be necessary for a patient's well-being, the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts has decided in favor of revoking Dr. Ann Neuhaus's medical license. Neuhaus, a colleague of Dr. George Tiller, assisted him by providing second opinions for mental health exceptions for late abortions.

According to the Associated Press, Neuhaus was hoping to have her full medical license restored after spending years only allowed to provide limited medical care for charity work. Instead, an ongoing investigation into 11 patient cases obtained by Operation Rescue became the center of a movement to have her license stripped all together.

The cases all involved girls who sought abortions due to mental health issues from depression to suicide, with an age range from 17 years old to as young as 10. The board alleged that Neuhaus's exams were not thorough enough based on the available records provided, and that her follow up care was inadequate, as she did not recommend counseling or hospitalization afterwards.

Neuhaus called the accusations ridiculous. She said she refused to put too much identifying information in the records because she knew that they could eventually end up in the hands of outsiders and violate the patients' privacy. As for abortions not being necessary, Neuhaus found that laughable as well.

"To even claim that isn't medically necessary qualifies as gross incompetence," said Neuhaus. "Someone's 10 years old, and they were raped by their uncle and they understand that they've got a baby growing in their stomach and they don't want that. You're going to send this girl for a brain scan and some blood work and put her in a hospital?"

Sadly, the findings of the board were nearly inevitable. One of anti-choice Governor Sam Brownback's most recent appointments to the board was Richard Macias, a former Operation Rescue attorney, showing the Governor's obsession with getting anti-abortion activists key administrative spots for regulating the procedure. "I'm more concerned about the standard of care, particularly the aftercare," Macias told the AP. "That's the issue that bothers me the most."

JEWS IN PREWAR GERMANY at US Holocaust Memorial Museum

It is baffling when a people who have been the object of suspicion , hate and even elimination all based upon outrageous stereotyping

to be so blind to the similar conditions and negative attitudes and stereotyping and invented conspiracy theories and suffering of other groups.

In Israel there are those Israelis who in their fevered imaginations believe that certain groups of people from certain parts of the world are not to be treated justly let alone as equals .

In Christendom for some 1700 years or more The Christian Church promulgated anti-semitism in large part based upon the belief that the Jews in Jerusalem deliberately murdered Jesus of Nazareth. Over the centuries Christians believed that all of the Jews since the time of Jesus' murder were all cursed by God for this crime of deicide. So when Judea finally fell in 70 AD this was seen by Christians as God's judgement on the Jewish people who previously had been God's Chosen people.

In order to make it easier to abuse, brutalize and even murder Jews without feeling guilty The Christian Church and its authorities neede to dehumanize and eventually demonize all Jews.

To accomplish this task it was necessary to attribute to all Jews a plethora of negative characteristics such as being cold hearted, greedy (ie Judas),miserly, cheap, sly, thieves, fornicators, tricky, cunning, secretive, hate-filled , backstabbers, without a sense of honour , practicers of black magic, praying to the Devil or Satan and the sworn enemies of the Christian Church They also added that Jews were dirty, vermin and disease ridden .

After Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation the protestants continued to promulgate hatred of the Jews. Martin Luther himself referred to Jewish Synagogues as The Synagogues of Satan.

The Christians were fearful and suspicious of the Jews living amongst them since they believed the Jews would take pleasure in killing Christians whenever the opportunity arose.

The European Christians blamed the Jews amongst them for any hardship such as a famine, or plague or war or economic hardship. The Christians came to believes that the Jews had formed a national or trans national cabal to control the nation states and cities in which they lived.

Now some Israelis are lashing out at mainly African immigrants in Israel. These Israeli bigots use the same old racist eliminationist' rhetoric and propaganda to promulgate their hate-filled twisted views of Africans which are similar to the same sort of hate-filled rhetoric and propaganda of anti-semitism.

But this is just another example of how some Israelis view other peoples such as Arabs, Palestinians and all Muslims. Unfortunately the Irony of Israeli citizens whether practising Jews or secular attacking those they believe are inferior to true Israelis is lost on them. As we have seen Israel has become an Apartheid Regime similar to the old Apartheid Regime of South Africa. In both cases races Arabs, Palestinians v Jewish Israelis are kept separate and there is great inequality between the two groups as the Israeli state denies equality to non-Jewish citizens.
Part of the evidence for this is the governments genocidal racist policy towards the people of Gaza and those of the Occupied Territories . One way or another the government has officially stated they hope to eventually force all Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims out of Greater Israel. They hope that eventually the Arabs, Palestinians, Muslims etc. will leave on their own as they realize the Israeli Jews don't want them in their country.

The invasion of Africans into Israel is greatly exaggerated as there are only about 60,000 African illegal immigrants in Israel. The majority are asylum seekers in fear of their lives they left their home countries. They have two strikes against them they are not Jewish and they are black. As we know there is a portion of the Israeli citizens and government who when caught off guard have shown their contempt for America for electing in their view an inferior black man into the presidency.

Why the U.S. Media Barely Covered Brutal Right-Wing Race Riots in Tel Aviv Middle East analyst MJ Rosenberg discusses the Israel lobby, Iran and the xenophobic riots that shook Israeli society. by Joshua Holland at, June 17, 2012

Several weeks back, Israel was rocked by a night of right-wing race-riots targeting African refugees in Tel Aviv. The thuggery was frightening – refugees were attacked, African-owned businesses and stores were vandalized and a community was forced to hunker down behind closed doors in fear for their lives.

Perhaps more disturbing still was that the riots, which began with an anti-immigrant demonstration, were incited by Israeli politicians representing the increasingly influential hard-right. They fired up the crowd, calling the refugees “infiltrators,” and a “cancer,” and accusing them of violence and rape. It was a classic example of “othering” – eliminationist rhetoric that led directly to action by the xenophobic crowd.

While a small number of people carried out the violence, they represented the views of many Israelis. A poll released this week found that 52 percent of respondents agreed with the characterization of African refugees as “a cancer,” and a third condoned violence against them.

The story received very little coverage in the United States. Worse, some outlets that did report on the riots advanced the rioters' narrative that African refugees were responsible for a massive wave of street violence, despite the fact that crime statistics don't bear out the claim.

Agence France-Presse via The National May 25, 2012

JERUSALEM // Violent race riots that shook southern Tel Aviv overnight prompted top-level calls yesterday for the immediate arrest and expulsion of tens of thousands of African migrants.
The latest violence to sweep the impoverished neighbourhoods around Tel Aviv's central bus station erupted on Wednesday night when a demonstration of about 1,000 people who were protesting against the rising number of Africans moving into the area turned violent.
"Shock, violence and hatred of foreigners in Tel Aviv" was the headline in the Maariv daily, which described scenes of chaos as demonstrators went on a rampage with sticks and stones, attacking African-run shops and smashing a car driven by two African men.
"Blacks out!" shouted demonstrators. Some yelled "Send the Sudanese back to Sudan," several media reports said, as other protesters derided the "bleeding-heart leftists" working to help them.
Most reports said the rally turned nasty after the crowd was whipped up by several racist speeches by right-wing MPs, several of them from the ruling Likud party of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
...The issue of illegal immigration from Africa has thrown into relief sharp divisions within Israel, with many top officials, including Mr Netanyahu, warning that their growing numbers pose a major threat to the security and identity of the country.
Interior Minister Eli Yishai demanded yesterday that all illegal African immigrants be put "behind bars" before kicking them all out.
"We must put all these infiltrators behind bars in detention and holding centres, then send them home because they come and take work from Israelis," he told army radio.
Unless the government took urgent action, there would "soon be half a million to a million, and we cannot lose our country to this," said the minister, who has frequently called for the expulsion of non-Jewish immigrants, sparking cries of racism.
Wednesday's nights violence made headlines in all the main Hebrew-language newspapers, as well as on the TV and radio stations, with army radio denouncing it as a "pogrom."

Vita Bekker June 18, 2012

TEL AVIV //Israel yesterday deported 120 South Sudanese and said it plans to expel hundreds more in coming weeks as part of its plan to oust tens of thousands of illegal African asylum-seekers from the country.

The expulsion of the South Sudanese has drawn extensive media attention because it involves the biggest group of illegal migrants - some 700, according to activists' estimates - to be deported in recent years by Israel within a period of a few weeks.

The government's move also appeared aimed at winning public support because it comes just weeks after tensions erupted between Israeli locals and Africans in Tel Aviv and amid hardline rhetoric by top politicians that the Africans' presence threatens Israel's Jewish character.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, insisted yesterday that the deportations would be carried out "in an orderly and dignified manner" and pledged more expulsions. "Today, the government will begin the operation to repatriate illegal work infiltrators to their countries of origin," he told his cabinet in publicised comments.

The deportations have become controversial because activists say they include some 450 children - many of them born in Israel and speaking Hebrew fluently - that are being sent to a nascent country ridden by poverty and malnutrition.

The mood was tense among the South Sudanese last week, as many hid indoors to avoid arrests and anxiously waited for a knock on their doors as immigration authorities rounded up more than 200 people in the last 10 days...

Mitt Romney Immigration and Gay Rights Versus LDS Historical Revisionism "The Memory Hole"

Update & Edit June 25, 2012.

"...Romney’s religion is not a sideline, but a crucial element in understanding the man, the mission and the candidacy. He is the quintessential Mormon who embodies all of the basic elements of the homegrown American religion that is among the fastest growing religions in the world. Like his father before him, Romney has charted a course from missionary to businessman, from church bishop to politician — and to presidential candidate. The influence that Mormonism has had on him has dominated every step of the way.

The seeds of Romney’s unique brand of conservatism, often regarded with intense suspicion by most non-Mormon conservatives, were sown in the secretive, acquisitive, patriarchal, authoritarian religious empire run by “quorums” of men under an umbrella consortium called the General Authorities. A creed unlike any other in the United States, from its inception Mormonism encouraged material prosperity and abundance as a measure of holy worth, and its strict system of tithing 10 percent of individual wealth has made the church one of the world’s richest institutions..."

Immigration: The Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints Issues New Statement by, June 10,2012

Update My running commentary on Mitt Romney and The Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter Day Saints.
Note The study of LDS is still ongoing -
so any errors or corrections needed and suggestions welcomed in the spirit of scholarship-
For instance until recently I thought most Mormons still practised polygamy which they do not .
Those who still practise polygamy are not members of the official Church .
The claims of racism I thought were exaggerated but they were not and the issue is complicated as it relates to LDS doctrines and mythology and current practices.

Pluralism, Multiculturalism versus A theocracy

In understanding any religion or sect we begin by taking the founder and the religious text and teachings at face value . So Joseph Smith's teachings and The Book of Mormon which he translated from the Golden tablets must be accepted as encompassing a sincerely held religious system.

We must recognize that the founder and his followers are sincere in their beliefs . This is especially true in a supposedly pluralistic multicultural society.

. Things get a little more tricky when the religion's followers attempt to push their values on those outside their Church to make them universal not just by the means of persuasion and debate but also by coercion by legislation backed by those in power with the help of the military and police. So it is a matter of the influence this or that religious group has on the making and enacting of public policies. There's the rub.

Now there is a difference between certain religious teachings and actions and rituals which may have no significant impact on those who do not belong to the particular religious group such as sermonizing, prayer, meditation, chanting while other doctrines may go against the values and beliefs of those of other religious faiths.

For instance one of the often touted extreme examples of religious faith trumping domestic or foreign policy making decisions might be that of deciding to go to war whether a massive invasion or using nuclear weapons in the belief that God would intervene to save spiritually or even physically the "True Believers" and possibly their nations.

I have commented before that despite America's hysteria over Iran's imaginary nuclear threat to the world the Mullahs and Ayatollahs of Iran have publicly issued a Fatwa renouncing the use of nuclear weapons by Iran or any Islamic nation or group on other nations These notables of Iran have proclaimed that it would be anti-Islamic to use nuclear weapons since such a weapon dropped anywhere would kill tens of thousands of innocent civilians. The Americans as Christians may see nothing wrong in the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians to take out one of America's alleged enemies ie Saddam, Gaddafi or Assad but most Muslims view the killing of innocent civilians as immoral . At the very least these Islamic leaders see the killing of civilians when attempting to defend oneself as a very tricky question. While for Americans it is a no brainer killing supposedly innocent people is not much of a concern especially if those civilians are not American citizens or possibly European citizens otherwise America view all such peoples as inferior or as enemies of Christianity as Infidels who's death has no meaning.

An American Joseph Smith was the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1830. He claimed to have found an ancient religious text written upon golden plates . This religious text The Book of Mormon owed its name to the angel Moroni who spoke to joseph Smith telling him this sacred book contained the true Christian Gospel as originally intended by Jesus Christ . According to The Book of Mormon Jesus Christ after his sojourn in the Middle East came to America and preached the Gospel.

Joseph Smith had been chosen as God's latter Day prophet who's calling was to creat a new Christian Church to correct the Christian Church where it had gone astray from the original Gospel.

Joseph Smith believed his calling besides presiding over this new church he believed he was being called by his God " to become president (Of USA) and reorganize American society according to Mormon principles ".

Joseph Smith did not hold to the principle of "The Separation of Church and State" as found in the American Constitution. He saw the workings in the spiritual realms as entwined with political and public policy making decisions. So ethical and moral issues could only be settled and acted upon by relying on the Church's basic principles and doctrines .

Since this notion of combining a religion with the state into some form of theocracy was part of the original teachings of Joseph Smith and the Church of jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints there is therefore reason to question a Mormon running for a high office such as president on how their faith and Church doctrines would impact on policy making decisions. It is then up to the electorate to make an informed decision to accept or reject the individual.

Part of the reason that coming to an informed decision on candidate who is LDS member is that the elders and the church's official historians are constantly in the act of rewriting Mormon history to rid church documents of any opinion or action which does not fit with the Church's current attitudes and opinions and doctrines. They will also white wash and downplay any doctrine or opinion or past activity of the Church if it is bad for the Church's public image that is if the practices or opinions are controversial in a given period of time. What is acceptable to the Non-Mormon American public at one time may at a later time be seen as shocking or culturally backward etc.

For instance this is why the Mormon Church had a change of heart and a rewriting of its doctrines such as Polygamy and its racist policies and its sexist policies. Not because they themselves decided to change but because it was a matter of the Church's public image or its survival as a religious people. In the case of Polygamy this was in deed the case since the US government was stripping the church of its material wealth and denying Mormon's their rights .

It is reminiscent of George Orwell's memory hole in 1984 in which the past gets re-written so there are no contradictions in policies . I would ague that the rewriting and reinterpreting of history is in fact an American obsession to eliminate all facts which in some way undermine or contradict America's current view of its own somewhat mythological history. updating historical documents and text to fit with current Church doctrines.

For instance there is agreement among most non-Mormon historians and researchers that The Church of jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was more tolerant of same sex sexual and emotional relationships especially during its earlier period up until the 1950s when the Church leaders took a harsher view of homosexuality referring to homosexuality as an abomination and an afront to God.

As part of The Mormon Church's rewriting of its own history to align the older Church beliefs and practices with those doctrines and opinions held by the Church currently the Church elders teach that the LDS church has always been fervently anti-homosexual even though this contradicts the fact based history of the Church .

Though someone who is Gay but does not take part in sexual activity with people of the same sex that is are in fact celibate is allowed to be part of the Church.

And again borrowing from website Religious Tolerance we get a brief overview of ... "Current LDS attitudes towards homosexuality:

The LDS church is currently very strongly opposed to equal rights for gays and lesbians. They maintain that their position has remained unchanged through their history.

They teach that a member cannot be excommunicated simply because they have a homosexual orientation, as long as they remain celibate.

Daniel Peterson, a professor at Brigham Young university and the author of many books and articles on church doctrine said in an interview:

"To be a practicing homosexual is something that will bring you into contact with the church court. To be a homosexual as such, to be of that inclination, there's nothing excommunicable about that and there are lots of them in the church. It must be a terribly difficult road to walk." 8

However, church policies are not always interpreted consistently; ex-members are occasionally seen on Usenets describing how they were excommunicated from the church because news of their sexual orientation became public, even though they have never been sexually active.

The church expects the same behavior among heterosexuals, bisexuals, gays and lesbians. Daniel Peterson said:

"... the standard for a homosexual is the same as the standard for a heterosexual. No sexual relations except within [opposite-sex] marriage. And if you violate that, that is one of the most serious things the church will look at. In that sense, there's no discrimination; there's a single standard that if a heterosexual male violates his marriage covenants, he's likely to be disciplined, whether it's with a man or a woman." 8

Current LDS beliefs about homosexuality:

Mormons refer to homosexuals as being "same-sex attracted." Their current beliefs are similar to that of most other conservative Christian churches. They believe that:

Homosexuality is a chosen lifestyle.

All homosexual activity is immoral and sinful, irrespective of the love and commitment of partners in a same-sex relationship.

Homosexuality is caused by dysfunctional parenting, typically by an overbearing mother and emotionally distant father

It can be cured through reparative therapy, repentance, and prayer.
