Rep. Allen West did his best to channel Joseph McCarthy yesterday in Palm City, Florida. In response to a question about “card-carrying Marxists” in Congress, Rep. West said there are between 78 and 81 Democrats in Congress who are members of the Communist Party.
McCarthy in 1950 maintained that he knew of 250 Communists in the State Department, although the number continued to change, and the McCarthyite spirit is alive and well in the Tea Party and Fox News newsrooms.
West’s remarks reminded us here at Right Wing Watch of the 1962 film, The Manchurian Candidate, where a conservative activist, who is secretly a Soviet spy, played by Angela Lansbury, convinces her husband, Senator John Yerkes Iselin, to go to the Senate floor announcing the number of known Communists in the Defense Department that she determined with the help of Heinz 57 ketchup.
And rightwing doubling down on Commies in the White House and in all departments of the government.

On yesterday's "AFA Today" radio program, Buster Wilson welcomed fellow AFA Radio Host Sandy Rios on to the program to discuss Rep. Alan West's recent allegation that were some 80 members of Congress who were members of the Communist Party.
Both Wilson and Rios were convinced that West was absolutely right, as Obama himself "admits to receiving Marxist training" and has filled his administration with open Marxists. In fact, there was so much evidence that Communists have infiltrated the government that Wilson could not understand "why the Left would mock those of us on the Right who call attention to it."
But Rios explained that mockery was all part of an effort to discredit those who point out that "there are tons of people in government ... who embrace Socialism/Communism, even if they don't call it that":

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker attended the National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis last weekend where Ted Nugent made threatening remarks about President Obama. The event reminded Walker of an NRA convention held in Milwaukee two years ago, where Walker gave the welcome address and loved meeting Nugent.
"The best part was I got to meet Ted Nugent before he played the National Anthem on his guitar," Walker said with a wistful smile in a video (watch above) shared on YouTube by James Carter, a public policy graduate student.
Nugent is currently under Secret Service investigation for saying that he would be "dead or in jail by this time next year" if Obama is reelected and comparing Democrats to to "coyotes" that needed to be shot.
Walker was also asked about the Castle Doctrine he signed into law in Wisconsin last year. The measure is similar to Florida's Stand Your Ground gun law, which has come under scrutiny in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting.
"Another thing I was proud to sign," he said. "For me thinking not only about people protecting their home and their property, but being able to protect their family and their loved ones in their home and on their property."
