John Perry Suggests A Rightwing Coup to Oust Obama? Rightwingers Incendiary Rhetoric Is A Threat To Democracy in America!!!

UPDATE: 12:35 PM & 4:07 PM Oct.1,2009 & 5:00 PM Oct. 3,2009

Newsmax columnist John Perry asserts Obama "is inviting" a "[m]ilitary intervention." Perry wrote, "There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America's military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the 'Obama problem.' Don't dismiss it as unrealistic."

Jim Quinn tells U.S. troops: Obama "is gonna get you killed."

Beck speaks for one third of the nation: "[Y]ou will have to shoot me in the forehead before you take away my gun" and "before I acquiesce and be silent."

Beck: "This game is for keeps"; "[Y]ou can shoot me in the head ... but there will be 10 others that line up."

Beck: "There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America."

Morris: "Those crazies ... who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents' " are "beginning to have a case."

RedState's Erickson: "At what point do the people ... march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp?

Savage: "We're going to have a revolution in this country"; "These people are pushing the wrong people around."

Quinn calls for "riots": "Our country was built on revolution, and it's about time we took it back."

Limbaugh: Obama "inciting violence" at town hall protests, "armying up" with "union bigshots", "tort lawyers"

Chuck Norris in WND: "[W]hen that time comes ... will history need to record a second American Revolution?"

Beck pours gasoline on "average American," asks, "President Obama, why don't you just set us on fire?"

Beck portrays Obama, Democrats as vampires, suggests "driv[ing] a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers." During the March 30 edition his Fox News program, Beck aired a graphic portraying Obama and Democrats as vampires and said, "The government is full of vampires, and they are trying to suck the lifeblood out of the economy." Beck then suggested "driv[ing] a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers." [Glenn Beck, 3/30/09]

Hannity "inspired" by Bachmann's call for "orderly revolution": "[A]s they attack you, you're going to have conservatives like myself in your corner."

What only a year or so ago was the Far Right, and Radical Right & the Radical Christian Right went from being the nutjob extremist to become the base of the Republican Party and were becoming more acceptable in the US media especially Fox News and CNN. It is odd that in the American media these people from rightwing organizations are interviewed as if they were impartial observers when in fact they have a stated partisan pro-conservative, pro-evangelical Christian partisan view and for most of these groups this is all laid out on their websites.

So what has come into view is what some would call "the Perfect Storm" which could lead to some sort of radical action on the part of the angry fear mongering Republicans and their Media Echo-Chamber. Once people are stirred up to an hysterical pitch just about anything becomes a possibility. If Obama is as evil and dangerous as the Radical Right and the Religious Right and Republicans claim then it is logical to assume that some people would act to remove this illegitimate and antidemocratic Hitler -like Tyrant from his position of authority by any means necessary .

This is not that far-fetched when we look at the case for instance of the murder of Dr. Tiller . The individual believed that abortion was equivalent to Hitler's mass murder of Jews in the Shoah/holocaust and therefore he felt justified in his actions. The pro-life anti-abortion movement for over thirty years has been promulgating this view that legal abortion is equivalent to genocide.

Now we have the same people on the right characterizing Obama as being just another Hitler about to begin his own genocidal program ie Eugenics in the United States of America. So what are the members of their audience supposed to conclude from this -any action would therefore be in their minds justifiable.

Thursday, October 1, 2009 Update: Reich Wing Coup? at Politics Plus

Some may question whether or not we should take Newsmax seriously. They’re serious enough that they receive financial support from the RNC, who pay them for email lists.

Finally the story broke in several MSM outlets. For example, Keith Olbermann and Chris Hayes from The Nation discussed it last night on Countdown…

Anyway John Perry has suggested that it may be necessary to stage a coup to oust Obama and his administration.

So for the moment let's assume that such an event were possible the question becomes how should Americans deal with such a threat. Whether or not one is a supporter of President Obama or not there is a bigger issue here. So for most American citizens as loyal and patriotic citizens would agree that such an undertaking as a coup would be a disaster for democratic principles in the United States. On the other hand there may be such a concurrence of events which might make a coup one of a number of contingencies if an administration or President became intolerable to the nation. But this would only be considered in the most extreme of circumstances and therefore cannot even be considered because one disagrees with some policies of the administration. So the decision on the part of the opposition to carry out a coup is not to be taken lightly.

Some argue that we should not even entertain such a possibility. But as you read and listen to the overheated incendiary rhetoric and the "Conspiracy Theories being entertained by some irresponsible Republicans and their Media Echo Chamber of Radical Rightwingers it would seem that they are creating an environment or atmosphere in which some people in positions of authority may take these critics at their word and therefore seriously contemplate such an action. So America maybe past that point of not mentioning the unmentionable .

But it would seem to me that something like a military coup or a mass insurrection becomes less of a contingency if the Mainstream Media. Newspapers, radio, television and those on the net for instance discuss this issue.

For instance Coups are usually carried out with as much secrecy as possible til the moment arrives so talking about it takes away a coups biggest advantage that of surprise and secrecy. So by openly discussing the issue this would possibly neutralize the very idea from being put into action. And once the Media starts to make anyone who makes inflammatory , incendiary remarks which could be viewed as inciting violence maybe these people such as Glenn Beck , Sean Hannity, lou Dobbs, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin , Michele Bachmann and others might be more careful in what they say.

As far as I know advocating a Mass Insurrection in America or most countries is against the law and it shows an utter disregard for the basic principles of democracy. This doesn't arresting or threatening to arrest these merchants of fear but to point out publicly that what they are saying and doing is dangerous ,seditious anti-democratic and unpatriotic and unAmerican. Otherwise these merchants of fear and hate will continue to spew forth all their nonsensical attacks on President Obama while inventing one new frightening conspiracy theory after another.

For instance Glenn Beck shouldn't be off the hook just because he makes a few statements claiming for instance that " I'm not saying that we are in a Fascist state or that Obama intends to create one but as he then slyly says but these are the facts and that the audience can decide what is true or not. Well when the facts and arguments are twisted by Glenn Beck and contain lies, half-truths and loaded and are slanted in a particular way etc which all lead to only one conclusion then his audience is going to come away with the view Glenn Beck intended they have all along.

So it is to a great extent a matter of informing the American public that much of what Glenn Beck and others are saying is questionable and some of it is a matter of fabrication and an attempt to create hysteria in their audience which may lead to unintended consequences ie violent actions of one sort or another going from shouting down people who's policies they don't agree with to bringing guns to Town Hall meetings to shooting people at these events. So it becomes mob violence or insurrection incrementally .

There is also the need to point out that many of the so called impartial experts who appear on Fox News and CNN are in fact part of organizations which are on the Far Right and are extremely conservative in their opinions.

Republicans call for overthrow of U.S. government-Sept. 30, 2009

Excerpts from John Perry's newsmax.com September 29, 2009 column entitled "Obama Risks a Domestic Military Intervention": There is a remote, although gaining, possibility Americas military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the "Obama problem. ...

And another more ominous sign of possible violence:
Obama's Presidency Leads to Right Wing Militia Revivial (MSNBC)

HARDBALL clip about how Obama's presidency is leading to a revival of right wing militia activity, dormant in America since the 1990's. - August 21, 2009

And with the recent murder of a census worker this may mean another indication of more violence against not just Census workers but anyone representing the Federal Government because they have been demonized by Glenn Beck and his "Fellow Travelers" while never being criticized by the Republican party.

People for the American way Right-Wing Census Paranoia [VIDEO]
by Josh on September 25, 2009

There are many unanswered questions about the tragic hanging death of Bill Sparkman, a US Census Bureau employee, in rural Kentucky. But one thing is clear. Right-Wing leaders like Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and media outlets like Fox News have whipped up hysteria and paranoia over the 2010 Census.

Mr. Sparkman's untimely demise may or may not have been the doing of an anti-government fanatic, but it’s clear that the Right is creating an environment that is hostile to Census workers and the Constitutionally-mandated Census.

A steady stream of conspiracy talk by Beck, Bachmann, and others on Fox News has legitimized and propelled conspiracy theories among many everyday Americans who are now terrified of their own government. Talk of rounding up dissidents into concentration camps and nefarious plots by ACORN to steal Congress has fed anti-government sentiment, which could boil over at any moment.

This should be an important wake-up call to those national outlets that have employed fear in pursuit of ratings.

Here is a video compilation of recent Fox News coverage of the 2010 Census -- featuring Beck and Bachmann among others -- along with three amateur YouTube videos created by Americans who fear the Census:

Pentagon, US Military lie about the proselytizing within the military. The Uberconservatives in the US see nothing wrong with such proselytizing . But even people in Obama's administration including evangelicals such as Hilary Clinton believe America is on a mission from God to smash Islam and other religions at any cost.
Evangelizing the Military Pt 2

Erik Prince who is the president of Blackwater is an Evangelical Fundamentalist who is convinced that he and his mercenaries are on a mission from God. And for all of Obama's speeches on Separation of Church and state there is no evidence so far that he is willing to take action to defend the principle of separation of Church and State .
The Nation's Jeremy Scahill describes the rise of Blackwater USA, the world's most powerful mercenary army.

Pentagon Evangelicals/ Christian Embassy (John MacArthur) Nov. 2008
"We are the aroma of Jesus Christ"

For instance the narrator says that American politicians & Pentagon would be upset about proselytizing if they were made aware of it. But this is not true for the last thirty years proselytizing has been growing within the US military with approval by the Pentagon, the Congress and the Whitehouse.

President Obama & others are only upset about this going public and that the film paints a negative view of these Evangelical Fundamentalist- whereas American military and the Pentagon & Blackwater /XE & a majority of American politicians including Republicans and Democrats see nothing wrong with this and in fact believe as Americans have for at least the last thirty years or so (and possibly since the signing of The Declaration of Independence) that it is on a Mission from God. So if Obama were to take substantive action to rid the military of Proselytizing Evangelicals -the Pentagon , the CIA, the Chaplaincy & Congress would refuse to act and or rebel and replace Obama by whatever means necessary.

Hunting People For Jesus

U.S. GIs Told to Bring Afghans to Jesus-Hunting for Jesus

US Army Evangelical Bible group using deceptive ways to convert local Afghans to Christianity

Staging a Coup-

Inorder for a coup to take place various elements have to come into play. For a coup to succeed those who favor it need to establish a number of key alliances. For example the military, Pentagon, the CIA or FBI and private contractors such as Blackwater/XE.

They will also need to convince a large section of the population that whether the people knew it or not the government had some nefarious hidden agenda which it was about to put into action so it was in effect a national emergency. In this matter controlling the Media TV, Newspapers, radio, the internet is key.

The alliances they would require would include support by a part of the US military. As we have seen the Evangelical Fundamentalist have infiltrated the US military chaplaincy to the extent that they control and make up 80% or more of its members.

We have also seen how the Pentagon has become riddled with proselytizing officers who have taken on an Evangelical Fundamentalist world view which has come to see America as playing a major role in God's plan for humanity. They see themselves as Warriors for Jesus and their message and purpose with the help of the Military Chaplaincy has moved down the ranks.

So it would appear given the right sort of circumstances and a massive campaign /media blitz attacking Obama and his administration that the Radical Right could count on the cooperation of a large segment of the media.,the US Military, private contractors/mercenaries,militias such as the minutemen, patriots and at least moral and political support from a significant number of Religious Right leaders and their supporters. Of course this is merely speculation given that there are those on the right who have actually come close to advocating such a scenario as an insurrection or coup to oust Obama.

Military coup fantasy is latest in trend of extremist right-wing rhetoric Media Matters.org Sept. 30, 2009

Continuing a trend of increasingly violent and revolutionary rhetoric advanced by conservative media figures, Newsmax columnist John Perry wrote that President Obama "is inviting" a military coup and detailed the reasons he said officers might support such a "[m]ilitary intervention" with the end result being one in which "[s]killed, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars." On the same day, radio host Jim Quinn told armed service members to "run for your life, get out," because Obama "is gonna get you killed."
Perry, Quinn latest to engage in extremist, revolutionary right-wing rhetoric

Newsmax columnist John Perry asserts Obama "is inviting" a "[m]ilitary intervention." Perry wrote, "There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America's military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the 'Obama problem.' Don't dismiss it as unrealistic." He added:

Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a "family intervention," with some form of limited, shared responsibility?

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama's exponentially accelerating agenda for "fundamental change" toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama's radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible. [Newsmax.com, 9/29/09]

Jim Quinn tells U.S. troops: Obama "is gonna get you killed." Discussing rules of engagement in Afghanistan, Quinn stated on his radio show, "The only reason you put military anywhere is to win and win as quickly as you can, as ruthlessly as you can, because mercifully it will be over quick, instead of turning it into a meat grinder. I'm looking at -- guys, look, I love you all who go over there and serve, but I gotta tell you right now, run for your life, get out, this guy is gonna get you killed. Man, these people are scary." [Clear Channel's The War Room with Quinn & Rose, 9/29/09]
Conservative media increasingly preach rhetoric of violence, revolution

Media Matters for America has previously noted that since Obama's inauguration, conservative media figures have made ominous, even apocalyptic claims about the impact policies pursued by Obama and other progressives might have on the United States and have unleashed violent and revolutionary rhetoric. For instance:

Beck speaks for one third of the nation: "[Y]ou will have to shoot me in the forehead before you take away my gun" and "before I acquiesce and be silent." During the July 30 edition of his radio show, Beck warned "ACORN, GE, Obama, SEIU" that "you are awakening a sleeping giant, and I have nothing to do with it" and that "America is waking up. You know the American Revolution took place with 12 percent of the population? Twelve. Are you telling me there is not 30 percent of this population that you will have to shoot me in the forehead before I let somebody into my house to tell me how to raise my children; you will have to shoot me in the forehead before you take away my gun; you will have to shoot me in the forehead before I acquiesce and be silent." Beck further stated:

They cannot move on these things, because they are building a machine that will crush the entrepreneurial sprit and the freedom that our Founding Fathers designed. This machine, whatever it is they are building, will crush it. Do not let them build another piece.

So while I turn away, I want to make sure that I have at least 10 million eyes watching -- watching every single move they are making.

[...]

We know why they're doing what they're doing. You need to do what you need to do, and as long as that is peaceful, we will save our country. [Premiere Radio Networks' The Glenn Beck Program, 7/30/09]

Beck: "This game is for keeps"; "[Y]ou can shoot me in the head ... but there will be 10 others that line up." Asking his audience to "pray for protection," Beck claimed that "the most powerful people on the planet on the left" were "not going to go away easy" because "[t]his game is for keeps. This is who controls the United States of America and its destiny." He went on to state, "Just pray for protection, please." Beck subsequently stated:

You can try to put the lid on this group of people, but you will never silence us. You will never -- you can shoot me in the head, you can shoot the next guy in the head, but there will be 10 others that line up. And it may not happen today, it may not happen next week, but freedom will be restored in this land. Period. And no matter what you want to call it, it is a totalitarian state that you're headed towards. [The Glenn Beck Program, 9/08/09]

Beck: "There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America." During the August 31 edition of his radio show, Beck stated that "there is a revolution, and they think they can get away with it quietly." Beck further claimed, "At this point, gang, I'm not sure, they may be able to because they are so far ahead of us. They know what they're dealing against; most of America does not yet. Most of America doesn't have a clue as to what's going on. There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America, and the way it is done, it has been done through the -- the guise of an election, but they lied to us the entire time." He also said, "And they're gonna say, 'we did it democratically,' and they are going to grab power every way they can. And God help us in an emergency." [The Glenn Beck Program, 8/31/09]

Morris: "Those crazies ... who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents' " are "beginning to have a case." During the March 31 edition of Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto, while discussing Obama's foreign and economic policies, Fox News contributor Dick Morris said: "Those crazies in Montana who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents because the U.N.'s going to take over' -- well, they're beginning to have a case." [Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto, 3/31/09]

RedState's Erickson: "At what point do the people ... march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp?" In a March 31 post on RedState.com, while discussing a Washington county's ban on certain kinds of dishwasher detergent, managing editor Erick Erickson wrote of politicians: "At what point do the people tell the politicians to go to hell? At what point do they get off the couch, march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?" Erickson later added: "Were I in Washington State, I'd be cleaning my gun right about now waiting to protect my property from the coming riots or the government apparatchiks coming to enforce nonsensical legislation." [RedState.com, 3/31/09]

Savage: "We're going to have a revolution in this country"; "These people are pushing the wrong people around." Michael Savage discussed multiculturalism and predicted, "This is not going to go on in this country much longer. We're going to have a revolution in this country if this keeps up. These people are pushing the wrong people around." Savage further said that "the rage has reached a boil. If they keep pushing us around, and if we keep having these schmucks running for office catering to the multicultural people who are destroying the culture of this country ... guaranteed the people -- the white male in particular." He continued:

Let me talk specifically. The white male in particular -- the one without connections, the one without money -- has nothing to lose, and you haven't seen him yet. You haven't seen him explode in this country, and he's still a majority, by the way. In case you don't know it. He is still the majority. No one speaks for him. Everyone craps on him. People use him for cannon fodder. And he has no voice whatsoever. He has nobody speaking for him.

So he goes to these extreme fighting events. Take a look at them, and you'll see what the white male is capable of. And you're going to find out that if you keep pushing this country around, you'll find out that there's an ugly side to the white male that has been suppressed for probably 30 years right now, but it really has never gone away.[Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation, 8/21/09]

Quinn calls for "riots": "Our country was built on revolution, and it's about time we took it back." Discussing health care reform, Jim Quinn stated, "You have got to say no to this, and if they push this through, you need to riot in the streets. You need to riot in the streets." He further said, "Our country was built on revolution and it's about time we took it back. These people are dangerous," and "It's about time to put an end to this leftist control of this country, and if a revolution is what it takes, damn it , then that's what it's going to take, because liberty will not be denied." [The War Room with Quinn and Rose, 9/10/09]

Limbaugh: Obama "inciting violence" at town hall protests, "armying up" with "union bigshots", "tort lawyers" Rush Limbaugh claimed that "public sector union bigshots and the tort lawyers" were "the people that Obama is armying up with. These are the people Obama is marshalling to prevent you from engaging in the democratic process while saying you're sabotaging it. No incidents of violence [at the August town hall protests] until Obama's crowd showed up." Limbaugh further claimed that Obama was "inciting violence." [Premiere Radio Networks' The Rush Limbaugh Show, 8/7/09]

Chuck Norris in WND: "[W]hen that time comes ... will history need to record a second American Revolution?" In a March 9 column for WorldNetDaily, actor and political activist Chuck Norris wrote: "How much more will Americans take? When will enough be enough? And, when that time comes, will our leaders finally listen or will history need to record a second American Revolution? We the people have the authority according to America's Declaration of Independence." Norris also wrote, "On Glenn Beck's radio show last week, I quipped in response to our wayward federal government, 'I may run for president of Texas.' That need may be a reality sooner than we think." [WorldNetDaily, 3/9/09]

Beck pours gasoline on "average American," asks, "President Obama, why don't you just set us on fire?" During the April 9 edition of his Fox News program, Glenn Beck claimed to be imitating Obama while pouring liquid from a gasoline can -- which he later stated was water -- on an "average American." Beck said during his demonstration: "President Obama, why don't you just set us on fire? ... We didn't vote to lose the republic."[Fox News' Glenn Beck, 4/9/09]

Hannity "inspired" by Bachmann's call for "orderly revolution": "[A]s they attack you, you're going to have conservatives like myself in your corner." During the March 25 edition of Sean Hannity's radio program, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) told Hannity she is calling for "an orderly revolution" so that Democrats can't "achieve their ends any longer." In response to Bachmann's statement, Hannity said: "Well, I'm inspired by what you're saying, Congresswoman, and I only hope that your fellow Republicans get as energetic and as outspoken as you are here." At the conclusion of the interview, Hannity encouraged Bachmann to "keep going, and I promise you, as they attack you, you're going to have conservatives like myself in your corner, I promise you." Hannity then added: "Boy, that was inspiring." [ABC Radio Networks' The Sean Hannity Show, 3/25/09]

History and Analysis of Right-Wing attempts at Coup d'etat smkovalinsky at NowPublic.com Aug. 30, 2009

As a writer with an academic past in philosophical analysis of political events, one of the issues which captures my attention is the idea of government overthrow: Its feasibility, the causes of its ideology, its agenda and its members. In my internet trawlings, I found this poignant piece, excellent in its backward look at an era paralleling our own in sensibilty and tone. From ObamersDotCom:

It wouldn't be the first time. The first rightwing attempt to overthrow the government was driven by an alliance of big business and army veterans. The Liberty League consisted of very rich men in the 1930s who loathed FDR. They included leaders from DuPont, GM, EF Hutton, General Foods, GM, Montgomery Ward, JP Morgan, the Hearst newspapers, Lehigh University, Princeton, Yale, U.S. Steel, Standard Oil (Exxon), Chase National Bank, Goodyear, Birdseye Foods, Colgate, Heinz, Mutual Life...and Prescott Bush. Some Democratic leaders belonged. The group was so powerful that even New York Times gave them dozens of positive front-page stories. Prefiguring today's rightwingers, they screeched that FDRs policies betokened "a trend toward Fascist control," and the end of democracy." Their aim was to use WWI veterans to overthrow FDR so the fatcats could put their own man in. Their first choice to lead the charge was Douglas MacArthur, but the veterans hated him because he had crushed the Bonus Army march a year or two earlier, so they turned instead to another general, Smedley Butler, who (luckily for us all) had the good sense to blow the whistle on these loons in Congress.

and using such rhetoric as Obama :An Enemy of Humanity" creates a very unhealthy climate in America:
