President Obama has said he will stand up to special interests groups and lobbyists in order to do what he believes is best for America. But will he be able to stand up to the Israeli Lobby and criticize Israel when it does something wrong and will he tie human rights to the giving of aid to Israel or is Israel the one country which is exempt from from petty notions such as Human Rights or obeying the Geneva Conventions or other quaint bits of International Law unlike Iran, or Saddam's Iraq or North Korea or China etc. But as I have argued before if any US administration were to criticize Israel it would mean revisiting the ways in which the United States has acted as Israel's enabler allowing Israel to commit War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity over the last forty years or so let alone during the recent Massacre in Gaza. It was not a war it takes two opposing forces to have a war Hamas was no match for the overwhelming fire power of the Israeli military, fighter jets, bombers and Naval Battle ships. So when will Obama rein in Israel or stop being its best ally or friend. Sometimes even friends step over the line or are in need of a wake up call as it were.
Clinton sounds determined but if she wants broker a peace settlement then she is going to have to deal with Hamas or radically change the pre-conditions for a Two State Solution. .

But is the 900 Million all for Gaza or for Gaza and the West Bank ? If all 900 million is for Gaza then this would be a move in the right direction but the question is whether Hillary Clinton is playing games with the numbers in order to appear to be doing more than she or Obama really intend to. They also want Hamas to renounce violence and recognize Israel and release the one Israeli soldier they are holding and then accept whatever deal is to be foisted upon them by Israel. The problem the Palestinians have with recognizing the State of Israel is which borders are to become Israel's permanent borders and will the 300 thousand Settlers be permitted to remain in the West Ban and will Israel remove its Security Wall or will the Palestinians be forced to remain in the Bantustan lands created by Israel. Will Israel and the United States allow the Palestinians full autonomy or will they remain a vassal or colony of Israel..
According to some Obama's policies towards Gaza and Hamas are more or less the same as Bush's policies . As Glenn Kessler for instance claims the money announced for aid in total is 900 million but 600 million will actually be going to the West Bank Palestinian authority. And "that the Administration will maintain a tough stance on Hamas, seeking to bolster the Islamist movement's rivals and keeping its distance from Palestinian efforts to create a unity government."

Bolton dares to talk about accountability after being involved in the corrupt over-spending Bush Regime. They gave out Billions to company's such as Haliburton with little or no accountability but Bolton probably thinks it's okay to give money to your friends . 900 million is a lot less than the US has been giving to Israel for last few decades. Bolton conviently also forgets the billions sent as aid to Israel which then purchases arms from US companies .
Bolton also claimed erroneously that the amount of damage would only be about 300 Million no more .

" In Gaza the private Sector has declined" Tony Blair - what an understatement and a typical Propagandistic Spin on the situation. As the commentator at Al Jazeera points out that 80% of the people of Gaza are dependent upon humanitarian aid.
Blair also says that he and other countries have to work with whomever the Israelis elect yet he and others still refuses to deal directly with Hamas. They claim first Hamas has to stop its rocket attacks, free the one Israeli prisoner they have while Israel is not even criticized for the thousands of Palestinians it holds in its prisons besides the millions held in the open prisons of Gaza and the West bank.
Tony Blair as usual mainly wants to talk about the West Bank and not Gaza. He dismisses the suffering of the people of Gaza by pointing to the rockets being fired upon Israel which have killed less than 20 people while over 1300 were filled in Gaza by the Israeli Forces the IDF . He refuses to see the victims in Gaza as victims . He keeps returning to the fact that Hamas is firing rockets on Israel and by implication that the Gazans deserve whatever punishment is meted out to them by the Israelis.He is more interested in working with a puppet regime that is Fatah in the West bank than working with the freely elected government of Hamas. Even now he is afraid of upsetting the feelings of the Israelis but sees the deaths in Gaza as their own fault. He also does not mention Israel's illegal settlements in the West Bank or its illegal wall and the hundreds of checkpoints that interfere with the daily lives of the Palestinians . These checkpoints have nothing to do with Israel's self-defense but are rather a way to oppress and terrorize the Palestinians so that they are reminded that they as a people do not deserve to be treated fairly, justly or humanely and that they should be grateful that the Israelis don't just kill them all.

"All the pledges of aid this conference is expected to produce will be worth next to nothing if the donors do not demand that Israel open the borders to commercial goods as well as humanitarian essentials," said Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch.
...Silvan Shalom, a Netanyahu ally, told Reuters the Likud leader would engage in dialogue with the Palestinians but would not agree in advance to the two-state solution advocated by the international powers since the Oslo accords of 1993.
Ramzy Baroud argues that once again Israel is playing the two groups of Hamas and Fatah off against one another and will possibly reward whichever one knuckles under to Israel's demands and will do whatever Israel asks. The Israelis are not interested in a real solution to the issues such as setting up a fully autonomous Palestinian State with the same rights as any other nation.

When Senator John Kerry visited Gaza last week, he made certain to emphasize that he had no contact with Hamas, and demanded that the militants stop firing rockets into Israel.
