Secondcitynetwork "The Partisans: DEMOCRATS FOR SANTORUM " & Notes on Radical Religious Right Puritans to Santorum

Anyway here are some quotes from other members of the religious right in America with whom Rick Santorum would easily fit in with. The Radical Religious Right have become identified more closely with the Republicans than they were in the Reagan Era.
It is noteworthy that when they are speaking amongst themselves they unabashedly state their motives and their goals which is to use the liberal notions of tolerance and relativism and democratic principles to eventually take control of the US  government and that of the states and municipalities down to the local PTA or school board.
Rick Santorum uses not just their buzz words or dog-whistle phrases but also their talking points which he is more than willing to expand upon. In 2008 the USA in the presidential campaign heard similar talking points used by Sara Palin.

But the religious right in the USA has been a force to be reckoned with at least since the late 1970s under the guidance of someone as scholarly and intellectual as Dr. Francis Schaeffer who helped to re-energize and to unite the various factions within the Religious Right including protestants, Catholics and Jews etc. and to develop a more thoughtful theology and philosophy to take on the Secular humanists whom he believed had held the reins of power far too long thereby transforming America from a God centred nation into a Godless nation in which reason and rationality and relativism and amorality or immorality were promulgated by all facets of society from the government to the Universities and Academia to pre-schools and the media in their onslaught on religion and faith .

But much of what these Evangelical Fundamentalists and their like minded Catholic brethren preach can be traced back  religious and moral belief teachings and actions of the Puritans /Congegationalists of the 16th and 17th centuries and of course during the time of the Great Awakenings .

As noted Rick Santorum holds views which are extreme but many of his views are shared by the other Republican candidates and the republican party's base. The difference with Santorum is that he is more honest and open about these beliefs regarding social issues than the other candidates . But as radical  religious right leader Ralph Reed  argued in the 1990s that those who believed as he did should be more cautious and circumspect in pushing forward their agenda but operating by stealth taking control if necessary one PTA or school board at a time.

"So let us be blunt about it: we must use the doctrine of religious liberty to gain independence for Christian schools until we train up a generation of people who know that there is no religious neutrality, no neutral law, no neutral education, and no neutral civil government. Then they will get busy in constructing a Bible-based social, political and religious order which finally denies the religious liberty of the enemies of God."
Gary North ( Reconstructionist)

"This is our government. They (the secular humanists) stole it. And we're coming to take it back."
Oliver North ( Iran/Contra scandal-right-wing hero Only Following Orders)

"What Christians have got to do is to take back this country, one precinct at a time, one neighborhood at a time and one state at a time ... I honestly believe that in my lifetime we will see a country once again governed by Christians ... and Christian values." (Religious News Service, May 15, 1990)RALPH REED (Executive director of the Christian Coalition)

"In winning a nation to the gospel, the sword as well as the pen must be used."R.J. Rushdooney (Reconstructionist/Dominionism)

"I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you.I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good ... Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don'twant equal time. We don't want pluralism."[TheNews-Sentinel (Fort Wayne, Indiana), August 16, 1993]RANDALL TERRY (Founder of Operation Rescue and a close friend of the Catholic Archbishops of New York and Philadelphia)

"We must fight against those radical minorities who are trying to remove God from our textbooks, Christ from our nation. We must take back what is rightfully ours." (Moral Majority Sermon, March 1993) "I hope to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be."
(America Can Be Saved, 1979) JERRY FALWELL (Senior Pastor of Thomas Rhodes Baptist Church)

While some progressives and Democrats have toyed with the idea of taking part in the Republican primaries to vote for Ron Paul in order to at least get the republicans to discuss whether America should be in a state of perpetual war and intervening militarily in countries and just making things worse. Others are arguing in favor of voting for Santorum just to make this wacky carnival last longer.

Democrats: Vote Santorum. For now. Really enjoy it.

To any who oppose such tactics on moral grounds, one might ask if they're part of the same group of people who oft bemoan the passive, compromise-y tactics of the current administration. Be the change you've been waiting for, and so forth.

To those who say Santorum is an actual threat in national polls because Rasmussen has him up by three amongst left-handed seniors or whatever: whatever. Careful observers will note that in a field of candidates this jaw-droppingly lame, everybody gets a taste of sweet sweet candy--if only for a moment. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/26/herman-cain-2012-primary-polls_n_103...
