" The People United Will Never Be Defeated" is a slogan one hears at the #occupy protests and the slogan is from a Chilean song.
So here's some music for the #ows / #wearethe99% to encourage them to stay with the cause no matter what the Mainstream Media says which is just a propaganda machine of disinformation and distraction  representing the elites and the status quo.

Lyrics in Spanish and English at Lyrics/Music: Quilapayún, Sergio Ortega, 1970 (Chile)

In 1973 Sptember 11 the US engineered a Coup d'etat in Chile to oust the popular legally elected President Salvado Allende who in the process was murdered along with several thousands of his supporters . So it is now often referred to as the other 9/11 in which the Americans and the generals of Chile under Pinochet terrorized the people of Chile.

Listen carefully to today’s Republican right and you hear the same Social Darwinism Americans were fed more than a century ago to justify the brazen inequality of the Gilded Age: Survival of the fittest. Don’t help the poor or unemployed or anyone who’s fallen on bad times, they say, because this only encourages laziness. America will be strong only if we reward the rich and punish the needy.
The regressive right has slowly consolidated power over the last three decades as income and wealth have concentrated at the top. In the late 1970s the richest 1 percent of Americans received 9 percent of total income and held 18 percent of the nation’s wealth; by 2007, they had more than 23 percent of total income and 35 percent of America’s wealth. CEOs of the 1970s were paid 40 times the average worker’s wage; now CEOs receive 300 times the typical workers’ wage.

In an era marked by the election of yet another phony Presidential savior, the somnambulant masses have been forced to awaken. Not only have the conditions for the already marginalized grown excruciatingly horrific, but the members of socioeconomic classes who formerly expected to have a solid, productive outlook have been offered instead a harsh present and a bleak future. And even those who once assumed their lives secure have found their assumptions trashed along with their savings. It took these dismal conditions for people to finally proclaim that enough was enough, and for some of them to rise up and speak out on their own behalves.
The movement must never forget to include not only the currently disenfranchised who thought they could succeed under this system, but the always disenfranchised who never had a chance. In short, the movement will be worthwhile and long-lasting if it can embrace a future society in which “we” always comes before “me.” There is a better alternative. It is here now, unless we retreat back to our superficial comforts, unless we surrender to our own egos, unless we cease to envision a healthier tomorrow for us all.

#OWS movement spreads across Europe.

CNN trying to dismiss the protests and uprisings in the US and Europe by underestimating the size and commitment of the crowds.
In this video from Madrid it seems obvious that the crowd is approximately a couple of hundred thousand strong while the propaganda mainstream media ie CNN puts the number in Madrid at  10,000.

**Message from Hartford to Wall Street:

In previous posts we have discussed the use of Agent Provocateurs by the police and approved by those in authority in order to discredit protesters to characterize the protesters as trouble makers and thugs and to allow the police to seem as if they had no choice but to use force see the video below  of G20 summit in Toronto 2010.

And there are also those not connected with the authorities such as Radical Anarchists or Marxist Leninist of the old school who may try to create chaos to push their agenda and ideology in which there is no leeway no room for compromise and then there are those regardless of their label are no better than football thugs who get a kick out of smashing stuff and aggressively confronting the police.

We are used to seeing or reading reports about the dirty tricks and underhanded tactics in third world countries but since 9/11 The USA and Canada and other Western nations are using similar tactics-though they haven't as yet resorted to mass killings as we saw in Libya and Bahrain , Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, China , Indonesia , Israel and so on. The Western powers are for the most part are only concerned about whether or not a head of state and government are willing to do business with the West in a manner benefiting the West while ignoring the crushing poverty of the average citizens of these countries. This is after all the collateral damage of unfettered, rapacious Capitalism which these exploiters see as inevitable .

As I have argued previously those who are part of the wealthy elite and the hangers on and enablers such as the Mainstream Media have no really deep sympathy and empathy for the average citizen. They are as soulless as Dick Cheney. That's a bit too harsh I'd say.

Police admit using "agent provocateurs" CBC National News

Montebello and Toronto ?

So the question is whether the Black Bloc a real group or cover for police "Agent Provocateurs"?
Did the police infiltrate the Black Bloc as cover for their own planned criminal activities and are they encouraging Black Bloc members to engage in criminal activities.
These are serious charges yet Toronto police or the Ontario government or the federal government appear to believe these are not serious crimes and just a matter of business as usual or they pull out the National Security card refusing to say anything one way or the other.

Police Setting their cars up for destruction at the G20 in Toronto
Uploaded by wearechangebrant on Jun 30, 2010
This is some footage of police forming a circle in the middle of protesters, then abandoning their cars there. And conveniently the Black Bloc comes and sets the police vehicles on fire. After the video where a undercover police officer is caught being dressed up as a Black Bloc member, and the pictures that show the police style boots and batons used by the Black Bloc. There is little doubt that the police were using agent provocateurs.

This evidence shows that the police were being given orders to set things up for the agents in a very blatant way.
Hopefully as more information is released we can get an real investigation into this.

"The Rise of the Regressive Right and the Reawakening of America " by Robert Reich by Robert reich , via CommonDreams.org, October 16, 2011

A fundamental war has been waged in this nation since its founding, between progressive forces pushing us forward and regressive forces pulling us backward.

Progressives believe in openness, equal opportunity, and tolerance. Progressives assume we’re all in it together: We all benefit from public investments in schools and health care and infrastructure. And we all do better with strong safety nets, reasonable constraints on Wall Street and big business, and a truly progressive tax system. Progressives worry when the rich and privileged become powerful enough to undermine democracy.

and so it goes,
GORD.
