Republicans & Fox News Targeted Kevin Jennings & Jerry Falwell's Legacy of Hate

UPDATE: 12:17 PM & 1:29 PM Oct. 5, 2009

The Religious Right and Republicans do not believe in compromise. As they believe one cannot compromise with Satan. Whatever human activity they disapprove of they designate as sin and it is to be forbidden. Gays according to Pastor Hagee must not be tolerated and so should not in anyway shape or form be protected by the government. In the same way not that long ago he would have said the same thing about the need to keep the races separated since this was God's ruling as found in the Bible. For agroup that claims one shouldn't compromise they appear to compromise when there is a shift in society which they cannot overcome such as the frequency of divorce (Ronald Reagan had a divorce and he was a part of the sinful pornographic Godless Hollywood establishment ), pre-marital sex, adultery, women in the workplace and even as professionals or families choosing to have fewer children etc. or the fact according to Jesus Christ someone like Hagee who is super wealthy could not enter the through the Gates of Heave.
John Hagee: Freedom is Evil & Jesus Has "a Sword" for Gays-NO MIDDLE GROUND

and in this clip of John Hagee he presents us with a stark vision of what it really means to live in a Christianized Nation & a Christianized world. Again there can be no compromise and that Christians must be the rulers of the world and there is no place for sentiment or tolerance of non-believers. Christians must gird their loins to the task at hand .( Hitler told his followers the same thing didn't he)

Hitler like Pastor Hagee as a representative of the Religious Right rejects the effeminate Christ who pities the poor and the disenfranchised the weak , the peacemakers but prefers the Jesus who in his anger turns over the tables of the money-changers and whips them at the Temple in Jerusalem.
Hagee's vision of God & Christ is that of a ruthless God using a sword to slay all those who do not obey him. Hagee and Hitler are both have a sense of absolute certainty about their beliefs. They cannot be wrong because God speaks directly to them or through "signs and wonders".

During his speech[ Hitler]swung his whip around violently as though to drive out the Jews and the forces of darkness, the enemies of Germany and German honor. Dietrich Eckart, who discovered Hitler as a possible leader and had witnessed this performance, said later, "When a man gets to the point of identifying himself with Jesus Christ, then he is ripe for an insane asylum." The identification in all this was not with Jesus Christ, the Crucified, but with Jesus Christ, the furious, lashing the crowds.

As a matter of fact, Hitler has very little admiration for Christ, the Crucified. Although he was brought up a Catholic, and received Communion, during the war, he severed his connection with the Church directly afterwards. This kind of Christ he considers soft and weak and unsuitable as a German Messiah.

The latter must be hard and brutal if he is to save Germany and lead it to its destiny.

"My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Saviour as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, [Page 14] surrounded by only a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned me to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love, as a Christian and as a man, I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord rose at last in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was the fight for the world against the Jewish poison." (M.N.O. 26)

And to Rauschning he once referred to "the Jewish Christ-creed with its effeminate, pity-ethics".

Frank Schaeffer in a post on his blog entitled At Last Dobson Is Done In By the Truth By Frank Schaeffer Sept. 7,2009 as a one time insider and architect of the Religious Right speaking about his positive reaction to Max Blumenthal's book Republican Gomorrah--Inside The Movement That Shattered The Party and how Blumenthal has been able to correctly portray the mindset of those involved in the Religious Right who seem to thrive on crisis and use it to advance their agenda which is anti-democratic and anti-American and their desire to remake America into a theocratic state:

But Blumenthal explains a far deeper pathology: it isn't so much religion as the psychosis and sadomasochism of the losers now called "Republicans" that drives the party. And the "Christianity" that shapes so much "conservative" thinking now is anything but Christian. It's a series of deranged personality cults.

The Religious Right/Republicans have perfected the method of capturing people in personal crisis and turning them into far right evangelical/far right foot soldiers. This explains a great deal that otherwise, to outsiders, seems almost inexplicable--the why and wherefore of "Deathers" "Birthers" et al. Blumanthal brilliantly sums up this pathology as:

"...a culture of personal crisis lurking behind the histrionics and expressions of social resentment. This culture is the mortar that bonds leaders and followers together." ...

The worst things got the better we right wing activists liked it. We loved crisis. We manufactured crisis! Crisis (public or personal) would force the country to embrace our radical solution: a radical turn to Old Testament law that would put homosexuals to death, see adulterers stoned at the city gates and so forth.

This analysis helps explain the activities of the Religious Right and Republicans over the past few months as they turned for instance Obama's attempts at health care reform into a national crisis and that in their view Obama's policy wasn't just an attempt at modest and necessary reforms but was attack on basic American principles and the first stage towards a "Totalitarian State".

The Religious Right & Republican attacks on their current target Kevin Jennings have little to do with the facts but more to do with smearing President Obama and making his administration unworkable. They are more interested in firing up their base using incendiary and conspiratorial rhetoric than with even half-heartedly helping Obama to maneuver the current financial crisis. They are too self-involved with their own anger and their resentment towards Obama and against the majority of Americans who voted him into power.

In one sense the Republicans and their "Fellow Travelers" (to use their language) can be characterized as "poor losers" or spoil sports who do not know how to accept defeat graciously. Instead to them the world has been turned "Topsy Turvy" as they try to explain away the fact that a clear majority of their fellow Americans voted for a liberal Democrat who is black.

So since the day after the election the Republicans have been acting like the bullies that they are constantly attacking Obama and his administration on every issue without having any serious policies of their own to counteract Obama's policies. Their policy is really a strategy to foment fear and a daily sense of crisis. So almost daily they find fault with Obama and his administration and act as if these faults in policy or in the personnel surrounding Obama are the last straw and the end of civilization as we know it. So ACORN is attacked and is made into some unholy monstrous Behemoth which is at the center of the rot at the core of American society for the last twenty years. Obama is being portrayed as the Frankenstein Monster created by ACORN and the Liberals and the Far Left and Progressives to destroy America.

So their newest target is Kevin Jennings whom they seem to credit with being the mastermind behind what they believe to be the Gay Conspiracy in which Gays are trying to take control of the U.S. government and its institutions . So they are using the fact that Kevin Jennings is openly Gay and an activists to stir up their narrow minded bigoted homophobic racist base. In doing so they have inflated the actual job in the government that Kevin Jennings has as the head or adviser of Keeping kids safe in school which under normal circumstance is a position without much interest to the the citizenry at large.

But the question is will Obama toss Jennings under the bus. Meanwhile the Republicans and their angry constituency are also beginning a campaign against Planned Parenthood.

As usual the right wing smear machine is out to create uninformed hysteria to raise it to such a pitch that the targeted victim is forced to resign. The allegations against Kevin Jennings appear to be without much substance. But the anti-Obama crowd will use whatever they can to undermine Obama. To most Americans Gay rights is not among their major concerns but the Republican base at times seem obsessed with the issue.

In a statement obtained by CNN, the former student, who wanted to be called Brewster, wrote: "Since I was of legal consent at the time, the 15-minute conversation I had with Mr. Jennings 21 years ago is of nobody's concern but his and mine. However, since the Republican noise machine is so concerned about my 'well-being' and that of America's students, they'll be relieved to know that I was not 'inducted' into homosexuality, assaulted, raped, or sold into sexual slavery."

Brewster the student whom Kevin Jennings counseled in 1988

Right-wingers, outraged by Jennings' work as a gay-rights advocate, claim that he has expressed a desire to spread homosexuality among schoolkids, contempt for religion and enthusiasm for drug use. (The Family Research Council has a scare-quote filled petition circulating.) Those hits have been rebuffed by people who have actually worked with Jennings. But the charge that's gained traction is that Jennings, while a high school teacher, failed to report a statutory rape. He said in a talk that he counseled a student who went home with a man he met in a bus station:

But the student was actually at least 16 at the time. The age of consent in Massachusetts was (and still is) 16; all Jennings did was choose not to share his knowledge of a consensual, legal sexual relationship. Nevertheless, Fox News and the Washington Times have reported that Jennings was "encouraging" statutory rape. The distorted story was picked up by Politico's Mike Allen, who called it a "problem": "He didn't seem to recognize that given this young man's age, this was an assault, and that it should be reported." ABC News and the Associated Press have also reported on the story.

Anyway in order to better understand the Religious Right, the Republicans as they now are and Uberconservatives it is helpful to look at their roots going back to the 1950s/1960s etc. The Religious Right & their "Fellow Travelers" first became active in their fight against desegregation in which they argued that God had made blacks ( and other visible minorities Hispanics, Asians,Arabs Native Americans etc. ) inferior to whites . If whites are good then blacks are bad and conservatives are good liberals are bad straight is good Gay is evil .

In the midst of their battle against the Civil Rights Movement other groups such as women who felt left out of "the American Dream" began to organize and make some noise to be treated as equals. Women in America still do not have their rights enshrined in the Constitution as in the ERA Equal Rights Amendment which was blocked again and again by the Religious Right. Having lost some of these fights or only winning a partial victory over the last twenty years they have been focusing on other issues such as abortion and Gay Rights both issues which fire up their base.
For instance they lost the battle over divorce or premarital sex or adultery. They do not usually for instance demand those engaged in premarital sex or adulterers should all be rounded up and imprisoned or stoned to death.( see Shakespeare's Measure For Measure)

"We see how Satan rises up those who have a secularistic philosophy to oppose those who, like us, have a Judeo-Christian philosophy."
Rev.Jerry Falwell:Old-Time Gospel Hour, 11/4/85

This quote is a telling one as it shows that Falwell and all those in the Religious Right see everything in terms of black and white in which God and Satan are in a constant war over men's souls. So as Reagan and Bush were on God's side they believe Obama and his evil liberal supporters who in the 2008 election the majority of Americans were possessed by Satan & voted for Obama and not the Godly Palin.

As late as 1964, Falwell was attacking the 1964 Civil Rights Act as "civil wrongs" legislation. He questioned "the sincerity and intentions of some civil rights leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., James Farmer, and others, who are known to have left-wing associations." Falwell charged, "It is very obvious that the Communists, as they do in all parts of the world, are taking advantage of a tense situation in our land, and are exploiting every incident to bring about violence and bloodshed."

as this next article illustrates Falwell like other Christian leaders such as Pat Roberson believed that blacks and whites should be segregated and inter-racial marriage was the worse sin of all .

Jerry Falwell's racist past By George E Curry NNPA Columnist at Frost Illustrated
"Decades before the forces that now make up the Christian right declared their culture war, Falwell was a rabid segregationist who railed against the civil rights movement from the pulpit of the abandoned backwater bottling plant he converted into Thomas Road Baptist Church," Max Blumenthal writes in an insightful article in The Nation magazine. "This opening episode of Falwell's life, studiously overlooked by his friends, naively unacknowledged by many of his chroniclers, and puzzlingly and glaringly omitted in the obituaries of the Washington Post and New York Times, is essential to understanding his historical significance in galvanizing the Christian right. Indeed, it was race—not abortion or the attendant suite of so-called 'values' issues—that propelled Falwell and his evangelical allies into political activism."

Four years after the Supreme Court's Brown vs. Board of Education outlawing segregated public schools, Falwell gave a speech titled, "Segregation or Integration."

His message was unmistakably clear:

"If Chief Justice Warren and his associates had known God's word and had desired to do the Lord's will, I am quite confident that the 1954 decision would never have been made. The facilities should be separate. When God has drawn the line of distinction, we should not attempt to cross that line."

The argument that God ordained segregation and white supremacy was advanced by many southern white ministers. We should not forget that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail" was written to his colleagues of the cloth. The letter, written April 16, 1963, said, in part:

"I have been disappointed with the church… When I was suddenly catapulted into the leadership of the bus protest in Montgomery, Alabama a few years ago, I felt we would be supported by the white church. I felt the white ministers, priests, and rabbis of the South would be among our strongest allies.

"Instead, some have been outright opponents, refusing to understand the freedom movement and misrepresenting its leaders; all too many others have been more cautious than courageous and have remained silent behind the anesthetizing security of stained-glass windows."

Jerry Falwell was not silent behind his stained-glass windows. He said, "The true Negro does not want integration… he realizes his potential is far better among his own race."

...Falwell didn't stop there.

Claiming that integration "will destroy our race eventually," Falwell said, "A pastor friend of mine tells me that a couple of opposite race live next door to his church as man and wife."

Not as an unmarried couple, not as gays or lesbians, but "man and wife." That was too much for Falwell to stomach.

"I believe that the overwhelming majority of Americans are sick and tired of the way the Godless liberals are running our nation."
Moral Majority letter Rev. Jerry Falwell

(see for instance "Godless" by Ann Coulter)

"[T]his deadly plague [AIDS] is already spreading into the heterosexual community, because of bisexuals who are carriers -- even affecting innocent young children. This is sexual TERRORISM -- and even more deadly than a gun or bomb. Across the country the militant homosexuals -- carriers of this deadly disease -- have gained civil rights advantages which seriously compromise the health and safety of Americans everywhere. ... You and I are the innocent victims of this perverted and deadly lifestyle -- AND WE HAVE NO PLACE TO HIDE."
Moral Majority fundraising letter-Rev. Jerry Falwell
(see Rev. Hagee , Pat Robertson etc. )

Notice that Rev. Jerry Falwell is one of the more important figures in the history of the Religious Right . Falwell who along with Paul Weyrich and Francis A. Schaeffer and a few others created what is known as the Religious Right which these days is considered as the main base of the Republican Party . The two are now for all intents and purposes interchangeable.

From the outset these religious and political conservatives were pro-segregation and Jim Crow Laws and were anti-equal rights for women and were and are still violently anti-homosexual. They also believed a great injustice was committed when "Lynching" was no longer legal or acceptable. So this sort of "local" & "community" form of justice could no longer be carried out only the State had a right to enforce punishment of alleged criminals.

They also lamented the US Supreme Court rulings in favor of desegregation and the protection of the civil rights of blacks and of all American citizens no matter their color, their ethnicity, their religion, or their wealth or lack there of so poor and rich citizens were to be treated fairly and justly. The expansion of rights and freedoms and equal protection under the law still angers these Uberconservatives who at heart are really anti-Democratic .

They do not believe as the Founding Fathers claimed or professed to that is that all men are born equal that they have equal rights and they even claimed to believe in inclusiveness at least on paper. In reality America began as a state in which only a small elite of white male property owning Christians had all those so called inalienable rights and freedoms and protection under the law.

So the Founding Fathers did not represent all of those who resided in the United States of America but rather they represented a protected class of American citizens who are white male and Christian.

Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity forget or in their revisionist history have decided to ignore the real history of the Founding Fathers. The Founding Fathers accepted slavery as an institution sanctioned by the Bible and God and they believed Blacks and other non-whites were inferior and that this view was also Bible based. They also believed men and women were not equal and that women should not be permitted to vote or to have equal rights to men. Now either these conservatives are unaware of these facts or in fact they are well aware of them and want to return America to where it was at the time of the signing of the U.S.Constitution.

So when the Religious Right is not bashing Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, feminists etc. their other favorite target are Gays and Lesbians. In the same way they believe Blacks have an agenda to take control of America and that Hispanics want to recapture Aztlan to make it into their own independent sovereign state they also believe the Gay Rights movement has an agenda not just to get equal rights but to through their positions of authority to get more recruits .

The Religious Right and Republicans and their echo Chamber of Know Nothing Nativists and white supremacists on Fox News see conspiracies everywhere. But they have their own agenda which is to return America to some mythical Golden Era when there was no crime, no adultery, no divorce , no sex before marriage ,no teenage pregnancies, no alcohol , no drug abuse and Gays, Blacks, Hispanics, women and others knew their place . In the good old days they fantasize about is a rather nasty place where white male Christians rule and everybody else doesn't have a say.

They went after ACORN and so far are victorious in their hysterical smear campaign against an organization which in their view had the audacity to help poor people in their day to day struggles and to encourage the poor, the working poor, the disadvantaged to also take part and be active in community affairs and were encouraged to register to vote and even to cast a ballot.

So now they are going after in their self-righteous view a shamelessly openly Gay man.

The Campaign Against Kevin Jennings, Backfiring?" By David Weigel 10/2/09 at Washington Independent

Media Matters staff has been all over the manufactured scandal haunting Kevin Jennings, the U.S. Department of Education’s director of the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools–a.k.a the “safe schools czar.” Jennings, who is gay, has been a target for months, but the very belated discovery of an anecdote in his book “One Teacher in 10″–in which he was told of a young student’s affair with an older man, but didn’t report it–has burned up in the conservative press.

First, Media Matters confirmed that the student was of legal age when he came to Jennings. Now, the group has a statement that really couldn’t be better for Jennings:

I had no sexual contact with anybody at the time, though I was entirely legally free to do so. I was a sixteen year-old going through something most of us have experienced: adolescence. I find it regrettable that the people who have the compassion and integrity to protect our nation’s students are themselves in need of protection from homophobic smear attacks. Were it not for Mr. Jennings’ courage and concern for my well-being at that time in my life, I doubt I’d be the proud gay man that I am today.

Kevin Jennings: Obama Aide Under Attack From Fox News, Conservatives Rachel Weiner The Huffington Post Oct. 1,2009

Conservative media figures have set their sights on another obscure Obama administration official. This time it's Kevin Jennings, assistant deputy secretary of education for the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs called the Jennings critics "sad" on Thursday.

"I think it's a shame to watch what they do," Gibbs said. "I hope that as people watch, they'll match up the actual truth with what's being said on some of these occasions."

Fox News' Sean Hannity has been particularly focused on Jennings; Greg Sargent speculates that he's jealous of the attention his colleague Glenn Beck got for his successful crusade against Van Jones.

"Ex-pupil defends Obama aide over controversial advice in 1988" " CNNPolitics.com Oct. 2, 2009

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A former student of an Obama Administration official is coming to his defense, as critics seek to use a 20-year-old incident to call for the official's resignation.

Kevin Jennings, who heads the Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, is under fire for counseling advice he gave a teenage gay student more than two decades ago.

Conservative groups charge that Jennings, who is openly gay, condoned statutory rape and child molestation. That's in reference to an incident in 1988 when Jennings, who was a teacher at the time, did not tell authorities that a 16-year-old student revealed to Jennings that he'd had sex with an older man.

Now that former student is speaking out for the first time and telling CNN he did not have sex with that man at all. He did not elaborate on what he told Jennings at the time. Jennings could not be reached for comment late Friday.

The former student recounted what happened at the time and maintained there was no sexual contact.

"In 1988, I had taken a bus home for the weekend, and on the return trip met someone who was also gay. The next day, I had a conversation with Mr. Jennings about it. I had no sexual contact with anybody at the time, though I was entirely legally free to do so. I was a 16-year-old going through something most of us have experienced: adolescence."
But conservatives have been emboldened since their attacks on environmental advisor Van Jones and National Endowment for the Arts spokesman Yosi Sargent forced their resignations, and the knives are drawn for Jennings.

Led by conservative commentators, Jones was attacked for once calling Republicans "assholes" and signing a "9/11 Truth" petition that suggested the Bush administration knew about the September 11 terror attacks in advance. Jones was also a co-founder of a group that has led a drive to convince advertisers to abandon Fox News' Glenn Beck after Beck said on the air that President Obama was a "racist" with "a deep hatred of white people."

Sargent came under fire for his participation in a conference call during which the NEA encouraged artists to participate in a project, led by first lady Michelle Obama, about national service. Conservatives, again led by Beck, accused the agency of attempting to create Nazi-style propaganda. Sargent stepped down from his position as director of communications, but the NEA said he remained with the agency in another capacity.

...Despite the revelation that "Brewster" was of age at the time, Tony Perkins, head of the conservative organization Family Research Council, called for Jennings' resignation and said, "You do not need special training to know child molestation is wrong."

But Jennings has some determined supporters. Gerald Tirozzi, head of the National Association of Secondary School Principles, recommended Jennings for the job.

"I've been working with Kevin for over seven or eight years now and his agenda is not only about gay kids," he said. "It's been all kids."

Tirozzi said that Jennings' expertise in bullying has earned him recognition from school principals in conservative as well as progressive districts.

Unpatriotic Right Celebrate US Failure To Get Olympics /Obama Zombie Kids V Jesus Camp/ Beck Exploits A Murder/ "Abortion Myth"

To whom it may concern I re-edited post for Oct. 1 " John Perry Suggests a coup to oust Obama"

Right Wing Noise Machine Celebrates US Failure to get Olympics
Obama accused of brain washing children v Jesus Camp
Right Wing Glenn Beck etc. compare him to MAO
Becks shameful exploitation of a young boy filmed being murdered
Beck blames Godless Liberals of course
---------------------------------------------------------------

First this being Sunday a few words by and about conservative politically activist Evangelical Fundamentalist Christians known as The Religious Right and then on with the show as it were.

It was not the abortion issue and the Supreme Court decision of Roe v Wade 1973 making abortion legal that stirred the religious Right into political activism but rather the result of a series of anti-segregation/ desegregation rulings by the US Supreme Court dating back to
Brown v Board of education 1954

to Green v. Connally 1971

& Bob Jones University v. United States 1983

& "POWELL,J., Concurring Opinion SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES Bob Jones University v. United States 1983" etc.
(see End note)
:

"The abortion myth serves as a convenient fiction because it suggests noble and altruistic motives behind the formation of the Religious Right. But it is highly disingenuous and renders absurd the argument of the leaders of the Religious Right that in defending the rights of the unborn, they are the "new abolitionists".

The Religious Right arose as a political movement for the purpose effectively, of defending racial discrimination at Bob Jones University and at other segregated schools. Whereas evangelical abolitionists of the nineteenth century sought freedom for African Americans, the Religious Right of the late twentieth century organized to perpetuate racial discrimination.

Sadly, the Religious Right has no legitimate claim to the mantle of the abolitionist crusaders of the nineteenth century."

From Thy Kingdom Come by Randall Balmer, pub. 2006 (pp. 16-17)

and as reported by Glenn Blumenthall( and Randall Balmer ibid pp.12-17)Paul Weyrich one of the chief architects of the Religious Right has admitted that he was unsuccessful until:

"I was trying to get those people interested in those issues and I utterly failed," Weyrich recalled in an interview in the early 1990s. "What changed their mind was Jimmy Carter's intervention against the Christian schools, trying to deny them tax-exempt status on the basis of so-called de facto segregation."

"when the Supreme Court ruled in Green v. Connally to revoke the tax-exempt status of racially discriminatory private schools in 1971...the Internal Revenue Service moved to revoke the tax-exempt status of Bob Jones University, which forbade interracial dating. (Blacks were denied entry until 1971).

Falwell was furious, complaining, "In some states it's easier to open a massage parlor than to open a Christian school."

...While abortion clinics sprung up across the United States during the early 1970s, evangelicals did little. No pastors invoked the Dred Scott decision to undermine the legal justification for abortion. There were no clinic blockades, no passionate cries to liberate the "pre-born."

For Falwell and his allies, the true impetus for political action came when the Supreme Court ruled in Green v. Connally to revoke the tax-exempt status of racially discriminatory private schools in 1971. At about the same time, the Internal Revenue Service moved to revoke the tax-exempt status of Bob Jones University, which forbade interracial dating. (Blacks were denied entry until 1971.) Falwell was furious, complaining, "In some states it's easier to open a massage parlor than to open a Christian school."

In 1979, at Weyrich's behest, Falwell founded a group that he called the Moral Majority. Along with a vanguard of evangelical icons including D. James Kennedy, Pat Robertson and Tim LaHaye, Falwell's organization hoisted the banner of the "pro-family" movement, declaring war on abortion and homosexuality.

But were it not for the federal government's attempts to enable little black boys and black girls to go to school with little white boys and white girls, the Christian right's culture war would likely never have come into being.

"The Religious New Right did not start because of a concern about abortion," former Falwell ally Ed Dobson told author Randall Balmer in 1990. "I sat in the non-smoke-filled back room with the Moral Majority, and I frankly do not remember abortion ever being mentioned as a reason why we ought to do something."
Above quotes From: "Agent of Intolerance" By Max Blumenthal at The Nation May 16, 2007

Anyway Obama's bid for the Olympics for Chicago fell through so most Americans and the people of Chicago were disappointed. But when one couldn't imagine the Republicans and their Media superstars acting and speaking any crazier they out did themselves by celebrating Obama not getting the Olympics. This defeat with their twisted logic and mindset they see it as solely a judgment on Obama's presidency and his policies and whether or not the world still liked him.

And these clowns call themselves "Real Americans" and "Real Patriots" but they sound rather unpatriotic and unAmerican glad that their country in this case failed. But bless their bigoted little hearts they just can't help themselves.Part of what's odd about this as Rachel Maddow points out it was George W. Bush who had put a lot of time and effort into supporting Chicago's bid for the Olympics.

So is it a failure of Obama or a failure of their hero President Bush is Bush also celebrating this news. So every failure from now on whether it is a worsening economic situation, higher unemployment, more foreclosures ,or Heaven forbid a massive terrorists attack on US soil these idiots /nutjobs will be either privately or publicly celebrating. That's mighty white of them. What are they hoping for next killer tornadoes, massive hurricanes, floods, pestilences, plagues of locusts, rivers turning to blood, epidemics, boils ,death of the first born have they lost it completely. And all of it will be according to them Obama's fault. It really shows though their utter contempt for President Obama. And so will Obama continue to placate these lunatics or move on finally to face them down to call them out for hatred , their smear campaigns, their insane conspiracy theories and their fear mongering and start doing things The Chicago Way. Ignoring or being civil to these people who have declared not just that they disagree with Obama and his administration but see him and his government and his supporters as "The Enemy"

Rachel Maddow: America Lost Olympics! - Right Wing Celebrates!

So let's take another strip off of crazy but extremely influential Uberconservative racist, bigoted, homophobic disingenuous card carrying member of the Religious Right Glenn Beck . Note he played a big part in our story in the last post on destroying ACORN 101. So Beck should not be ignored . Even Obama more and more bends to the will of "THE Beck"(as Olbermann calls him) and his henchmen. If Beck goes after one of Obama's friends then they are toast and tossed under the next bus.

This video is good for a laugh especially how Glenn Beck and the Uberconservatives and the Religious Right are shown as the hypocrites they really are. Their main issue is that they lost last years election and a quasi-liberal Black American is president. And some of them feel let down by Bush because he didn't round up all the liberals and make America into a theocracy and even refused to nuke Iraq or Afghanistan or even Iran so Bush and Cheney wimped out on them.

"Countdown" Slams Fox News For "Bogus" Claims That Obama Is Indoctrinating Kids (VIDEO)Huffington post Sept. 30, 2009

"Countdown," with David Shuster filling in for host Keith Olbermann, slammed Fox News for their "bogus" claims that President Obama is trying to indoctrinate school children. Playing a lengthy clip reel of Fox News hosts spluttering in "phony outrage" about the recently surfaced videos, Shuster takes apart their wild accusations that the Obama administration is essentially trying to brainwash children.

Shuster also shows video of children being led to praise George Bush for his Katrina response, and Eric Burns of the media watchdog group Media Matters joins the show to discuss this latest right wing conspiracy theory.

Next we have Glenn Beck at his most depraved disingenuous holier than thou moralizing and lecturing America while exploiting video of a brutal murder so he can cry and blame millions of Americans for this kids murder because if they prayed more or went to church more or were allowed to sing Christmas carols in the schools or not voted for Obama or if at the 9/12 march they had stormed the Whitehouse and removed Obama-this wouldn't have occurred ???

Glenn Beck connects senseless cruel murder of a kid to evil "Godless Liberals" "Secular Humanists" Atheists, "evolutionists", liberal media, Hollywood, Liberal TV networks, PBS, ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center, ACORN, Human Rights Watch, Red Cross, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Pagans, Wiccans, Harry Potter,Hippies, Beatniks, artists, socialists, Progressives, Liberal Churches Darwin, Obama, The Supreme Court ie rulings on Separation of Church and State or abortion Roe V. Wade.

Glenn Beck says Americans have forgotten God & the Ten Commandments ie Thou Shalt not Kill. Odd he is in favor of capital punishment and butchering hundred of thousands in Iraq just for being Muslims and or Arabs to get revenge for 9/11. Except most Americans see all Muslims as Evill and all Arabs -
Beck's only solution for violence is creating a theocracy in America and then atheists and all non-Christian would become at best second class citizens while Gays ,Lesbians, adulterers, drunkards , drug addicts, disobedient children, beggars, the homeless and those who insist on preaching heresy would be imprisoned or executed

This is also odd since Glenn Beck has been sharing his secret nightmares and fantasies with us fear mongering and just going nuts about anything and everything Obama does or doesn't do.

Exclaiming while pretending to pour gasoline over someone and says "Obama why don't you just set us on fire"while fantasizing about killing Nancy Pelosi and using as his symbol the "Don't Tread On Me" & the idea that "the tree of liberty needs to be watered with the blood of Patriots" Now he is celebrating Obama not getting the Olympics. So Beck is glad Obama failed and that this is a blow to the country and to Chicago. Would he have done the same if it were George W. Bush no he would go into a tirade against the anti-American Olympic committee etc.

Fox News shows murder and blames it on the godless

So Glenn Beck on Fox News recently (September 29, 2009) showed a graphic murder. This is the sort of thing that would get a video pulled from youtube almost immediately, but for some reason Fox deemed it important enough to put on the Glenn Beck show.

Now I've seen the ugly side of mankind. But to be honest this is something that one has to mentally prepare for. It should not be the sort of thing that should get pushed in your face. I mean the only warning Beck gives is to tell 'children to leave the room' before showing the young teen getting beaten to death. This is I am pretty sure just for the shock value to make the audience more receptive to Beck telling them that its all because we have taken in god we trust off some of our currency.

Beck goes on to blame this on the 'loss of god' in America.

Beck gives several monologues as tirades where he basically dictates to the audience what they should think, and in this sense is not unlike howtheworldworks.
Watching Glenn in action is like watching the art of manipulation in motions. He targets his appeals to every mechanism of suggestions, bar reason, logic and facts

Bob Jones University v. United States 1983

Petitioner Bob Jones University
Respondent Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
Petitioner's Claim: That as a non-profit educational institution, it was entitled to tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (IRC), and that the revocation of that status by the IRS--because of the school's policy of racial discrimination in admissions--constituted an abridgement of rights under the freedom of religion clauses of the First Amendment.

Date of Decision 24 May 1983
Decision
That the petitioner did not qualify as a tax exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3), because its policy of racial discrimination was a goal clearly in opposition to common law standards of charity, and the government's interest in eradicating racial discrimination outweighed whatever burden denial of tax exemption would place on the petitioner.
Significance
Bob Jones University v. United States, along with the companion case of Goldsboro Christian Schools v. United States, established the higher importance of the federal interest in ending racial discrimination over that of preserving the tax-exempt status of religious institutions.

Bob Jones University, located in Greenville, South Carolina, was a nondenominational and fundamentalist Christian educational institution. In line with its founders' segregationist beliefs, allegedly based on an interpretation of the Bible, the school practiced racial discrimination in admissions and prohibited African Americans from enrolling. At the same time, the school enjoyed tax-exempt status as a charitable institution under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) of 1954.

Then in 1970, in the case of Green v. Connally, a special three-judge district court ordered the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to withhold tax exemption from private schools in Mississippi that continued to practice racial discrimination in their admissions policy. The Supreme Court upheld the decision on appeal, in Coit v. Green (1971). Therefore the IRS issued Revenue Bulletin 71-447, which revoked tax exemption for any private school that discriminated against applicants on the basis of race. Not only did the new rule require such schools to pay federal taxes, it also removed the tax deduction for individuals who made donations to the school.

In 1970, Bob Jones University was informed that it would lose its tax-exempt status, but the school continued to maintain that it was entitled to such status.
In 1975, the Court of Appeals of the Fourth Circuit outlawed racial discrimination by all private schools, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court in Runyon v. McCrary (1976). Therefore Bob Jones University was required to open its doors to non-white applicants, and it did allow unmarried black applicants to enroll--but the school maintained a policy of punishing interracial dating with expulsion. In 1976, the university filed tax returns for the period from 1 December 1970 to 31 December 1975, and paid a tax of $21 on one employee for the calendar year of 1975. The IRS responded by informing the school that it owed $489,675.59 in taxes, plus interest.

ACORN Gutted: Rachel Maddow Asks Who's Next & Republicans: "The Chicago Way"

UPDATE: 6:06 PM , Oct. 3, 2009

Advice For Obama- The Chicago Way

So "this is how its done he pulls a knife you pull a gun...; that's the Chicago way" Sean Connery
The Chicago Way -From The Untouchables-

Jimmy Malone tells Eliot Ness what it will take to get Al Capone.

"That Blackwater Inc. received as much money in one day of operation as ACORN received over 20 years"
Jeremy Scahill
Anyway in this scenario being played out by President Obama it is the Republicans and their media henchmen who are "The Untouchables"

If Obama wanted to get the Republicans he should be willing to play rough because they are in no mood to compromise or help Obama and if he shows signs of weakness as he has done over and over again these bastards will just go after him and everyone around him with even more determination. They made him capitulate over investigating Bush and Co. for various crimes renditions, abuse , torture and murder of detainees and their Kangaroo Courts and their wiretapping and taking America into an unnecessary war in Iraq billions of dollars have gone missing and they have caused the deaths of 5,000 US soldiers and 1,000,000 (one million) Iraqis they took out Van Jones and now ACORN they are destroying Obama's so called health care reform and who's next. He says he's "all fired up" but for what making more speeches.

First They Came for ACORN... But Who's Next?
Sept. 30. 2009 Rachel Maddow via CommonDreams

Republican and Democrats hypocrisy over ACORN. ACORN has been targeted by the Republicans going back at least five years. Bush Cheney Karl Rove hated ACORN because it was successful in getting large numbers of poorer Americans registered to vote which they feared would cost Bush the 2004 election and later in 2006 ACORN's activities cost a number of Republicans re-election. Of course it had nothing to do with Bush's failed policies and an unpopular War in Iraq or concerned about executive over-reach or that the divide between rich Americans and average Americans had grown into a mighty chasm.

ACORN vs BLACKWATER PT 1

ACORN vs BLACKWATER PT 2

In an earlier post I was looking at the remote possibility of a Coup D'etat to remove Obama in response to John Perry's suggestion that this might be the only way to save America from Obama. I argued that such an event though unlikely might be undertaken if the Republicans, the Religious Right , Fox News , Glenn Beck etc. couldn't find a legal way to remove him or by using pressure get him to step down. It was also note that an attempt at a coup had occurred at least twice in America's history.

Now with the issue of the ACORN scandal if the Republicans, the Uberconservatives and the Religious Right and their rightwing megaphone at Fox News & CNN & Talk Radio can get enough traction and convince a large enough or a noisy segment of the American populace to put pressure on the Congress & Senate etc. they could either investigate Obama's connections ACORN and muddy the waters enough to neutralize his presidency or get him to step down or impeach Obama. This is another tactic which has the possibility of making Obama into a lame duck president or get him removed. Of course if this ACORN strategy doesn't work they will move onto some other strategy. But there is also the danger that once this scandal gets out of control or other invented controversies if the the Democrats or Republicans cannot or will not remove Obama then again there is the possibility of massive demonstrations finaced by the wealthy conservative in the United States to put pressure on Obama to resign or at that point a bloodless coup could be justified to the American people after being fed a constant diet of rumor, half-truths, misinformation and a host of conspiracy theories. The sort of common sense Faux Populist like Glenn Beck, Limbaug, Dobbs and Hannity would say if there's smoke then there must be fire and so for the good of the country they might argue Obama should step down or be removed by whatever means necessary.

Flaherty: ACORN is 'Big Laundromat' for Money

Jason Leopold argues that the Bush Regime and Karl Rove had targeted ACORN over five years ago.And so what is happening now is just a continuation of that war against ACORN to smear it and destroy the organization by whatever means necessary. What he argues is that many of the allegations against ACORN are either not true, or have been exaggerated and blown all out of proportion. Yes ACORN over the years has had problems mainly with dealing with employees who lied or didn't fulfill their responsibilities , their work was shoddy , unprofessional and possibly criminal.

The Republicans and their Media Echo cnhamber have made enough noise about ACORN tha a bill was passed to defund them and Obama said ACORN deserved to be investigated. At the same time Obama still laughs at the idea of investigating the Bush Regime for renditions, abuse, torture and murder of detainees or of investigating them for their abuse of power to take the US into an unnecessary war in Iraq.

Ah well only 5,000 soldiers did in the war no biggie- as for the one million dead Iraqis who cares -Americans & most of the West & Christendom couldn't care less allthey are worried about is their steady oil supplies. Meanwhile the harassment and witch-hunt conducted by Bush & Karl Rove against ACORN is ignored by President Obama and the Republicans . Its not like ACORN represents some Big Corporation too Big to Fail or some wealthy campaign donor to the Republicans who all get forgiven for their wrong doing as Maddow points out about Blackwater, KBR, Haliburton etc.

So what's a few billion between friends as opposed to some organization for the most part representing poor people and staffed by mainly Blacks and Hispanics-its not like these people are really connected or part of the American elite. In this case even Obama, Bidden, Hilary etc. are quite willing to do a Clinton & throw ACORN under the bus for if proven defrauding the government out of a measly ten or more million while Halibuton & others defrauded the government out of hundreds of millions but they have many more friends in high places and that's what counts . Bail out banks and investment agencies and obscure finacial traders while average Americans making less than Glenn Beck's 23 million a year are still losing their jobs and homes.

The other question is how many more people and organizations will Obama throw under the Bus before taking a stand or will this just continue for the next three years as Obama back-peddles on his campaign promises. is this part of his deal to take down one community activist organization after another. Every time there is push back he caves in.

Karl Rove And The Republican War Against ACORN By Jason Leopold The Public Record Sept. 25th, 2009

In recent days, the Washington Post, the New York Times and other major news outlets have recounted the “troubled” history of the poor people’s advocacy group ACORN, but left out the five-year anti-ACORN campaign led by White House adviser Karl Rove and other Republican operatives.

Dropped down the memory hole is the fact that ACORN was at the center of the so-called “prosecutor-gate” scandal, when the Bush administration pressured U.S. Attorneys to bring indictments over the grassroots group’s voter-registration drives and then fired some prosecutors who resisted what they viewed as a partisan strategy not supported by solid evidence.

The latest furor over ACORN was touched off by conservative filmmaker James E. O’Keefe III and a right-wing columnist who posed as a couple planning to buy a house for use as a brothel and getting advice from a few ACORN employees, rather than being turned away.

...Stark Juxtaposition

That juxtaposition is a stark example of how Republicans – aided by the giant megaphone of the right-wing media – continue to keep Democrats on the defensive, while evidence of Republican guilt gets little sustained attention except at a handful of Internet sites.

That pattern holds true even for issues connected to ACORN.

For instance, much less media interest followed the House Judiciary Committee’s August release of Bush administration e-mails related to the role that Rove and other Bush administration officials played in the firings of nine U.S. attorneys amid a Republican effort to target ACORN’s voter- registration work during the 2004 presidential election between President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry.

Two of the nine U.S. Attorneys who were fired in 2006 were targeted because they refused to bring criminal charges against individuals affiliated with ACORN. The firing of another U.S. Attorney was due, in large part, to his refusal to convene a grand jury and secure a voter-fraud indictment against individuals, some of who were affiliated with ACORN.

In a May 2, 2005, Rove deputy Scott Jennings sent to another Rove protégé Tim Griffin an e-mail, which said that in the fall of 2004, Bernalillo County’s Republican Sheriff Darren White and Pat Rogers and Mickey Barnett, Republican Party operatives in New Mexico, turned over hundreds of “suspected fraudulent voter registration forms” handled by ACORN workers. The e-mail was also forwarded to Leslie Fahrenkopf, Bush’s associate counsel.

In 2004, New Mexico was considered a swing state in the Bush-Kerry race and Bernalillo County had been targeted by ACORN for a major grassroots effort to register voters, which resulted in about 65,000 newly registered voters, many of who were low-income and minorities who tend to vote for Democrats.

Sheriff White challenged the integrity of some of the names on the voter registration rolls, according to then-New Mexico U.S. Attorney David Iglesias in his book, In Justice: Inside the Scandal that Rocked the Bush Administration. White held a press conference along with other Republican officials in the county to call attention to the matter.

“The purported examples that were then produced included a woman who had correctly filled out two different registrations with slightly different signatures and another in which a husband, with his wife’s permission, had signed her name to the form,” Iglesias wrote. “It was demanded that I take action against what was perceived as rampant abuse of the system.”

Alan Grayson 44,000 Americans Die Each Year Due to Lack of Adequate Health Care- It is a Life & Death Issue

The United States stands alone among industrialized
nations in not providing health coverage
to all of its citizens. Currently, 46 million
Americans lack health coverage.1 Despite repeated
attempts to expand health insurance,
uninsurance remains commonplace among US
adults.

From:Health Insurance and Mortality in US Adults pdf file

The Republicans demanded that Alan Grayson apologize for offending them with his statement that the Republican did not care about the average American but rather about themselves and wealthy Americans and big corporations. In fact the Republicans and others against health care reform lack any sort of normal human compassion for their fellow citizens whom they publicly and shame-facedly claim they do care about them. If anything they are the ones who are the enemy of the American people. Glenn Beck for instance makes 23 million a year so what would he know about the average American.
Rep. Alan Grayson discussed the study, which shows that 44,000 people in America die every year due to a lack of health care insurance.

Alan Grayson on the GOP Health Care Plan: "Don't Get Sick! And if You Do Get Sick, Die Quickly!"'

Once again the Republicans and their Media Echo-Chamber prove their hypocrisy . They criticize Alan Grayson for daring to call the Republicans the "Party of No", Obstructionists, in the pay of the Health Insurance Industry and Nattering Nabobs of Negativity ( Spiro Agnew coined phrase) and knuckle dragging neanderthals... -

But Grayson also points that the Congress should not just be concerned about the unborn but also about those who have been born. The Republicans have been trying to push for various changes in the health care bills to prevent health in any way shape or form help pay for abortions or any form of birth control. The Republicans and unfortunately some Democrats are not on the side of the people when it comes to health care. They are really on the side of the corporations involved in the health care industry. The Republicans and some Democrats get large donations for their election campaigns and money for other goodies and so don't want to kill the hand that feeds them.
Meanwhile the Republicans who are against any real substantive reform of healthcare claim to be baked by a spontaneous populist grassroots protest movement. But it is Republicans and conservatives and corporations which benefit by the broken & outdated healthcare system which fails to give adequate healthcare to 47 million of their own citizens who financed and created and staged a populist rebellion. Many concerned citizens of good will unfortunately became part of these protests Tea Partys Glenn Beck's 9/12 TeaParty march on Washington etc. after being fed a whole host of lies and conspiracy theories in which supposedly Obama was involved.

Many of these people were duped by a well financed and orchestrated propaganda campaign in the same way many Americans of good will were convinced by the propaganda of the Bush/Cheney/Karl Rove machine by the lies and misrepresentations they were fed for months on end in a relentless daily 24/7 that Iraq had to be invaded.

There were no WMDs, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, it had no nuclear weapons etc. And there are no "Death Panels" or FEMA concentration camps and Obama is an American citizen and not a foreign agent or the anti-Christ etc.

Meanwhile these hyper-sensitive Republicans and their media echo-chamber have called Obama various names and falsey accused him of secretly hatching various plots.
They have compared Obama's Health Care bills to the policies of Adolph Hitler and the Nazis and their Eugenics plan to get rid of the unfit mentally or physically by killing them.
They have said that Obama has a hidden agenda to make America into a totalitarian police state.
They have accused Obama of wanting to the guns away from law abiding Americvan citizens.
They have suggested that Obama is not an American citizen and therefore has no right to be president.
They have defended people who went to Town Halls not to listen or take part in a discussion even a heated one but rather to shout down the speaker and shut down these meetings.
They have also defended people's rights to show up at Town Hall meetings carrying guns.
They even saw nothing wrong with US citizens with assault weapons at Town Halls with President Obama in attendance.
They have smeared Obama with terms that are pejorative such as "socialist: Collectivist , Communist a Maoist worse than Pol Pott .
They have called Obama a racist and elitist .
They have accused Obama of giving aid and comfort to America's enemies.
They have called Obama unpatriotic, UnAmerican, a Manchurian candidate, anti-American and that he has made America less secure.
They have argued that Obama is going to have all conservatives and anyone who criticizes him or his policies put into concentration camps.
They claim Obama is denying vaccine for H1N1 in order to allow all those people not inoculated to die to reduce the population or the H1N1 vaccine itself will be used to kill people.
They have blamed Obama for helping to cause the economic meltdown in America even before he became president.
The point is the Republicans see nothing wrong with name calling and making outrageous allegations from Death Panels to FEMA Death Camps.
In the ACORN affair they accuse Obama of somehow directing Obama's operations and in 2004 & 2008 trying to use ACORN to fix the elections.

John Perry Suggests A Rightwing Coup to Oust Obama? Rightwingers Incendiary Rhetoric Is A Threat To Democracy in America!!!

UPDATE: 12:35 PM & 4:07 PM Oct.1,2009 & 5:00 PM Oct. 3,2009

Newsmax columnist John Perry asserts Obama "is inviting" a "[m]ilitary intervention." Perry wrote, "There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America's military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the 'Obama problem.' Don't dismiss it as unrealistic."

Jim Quinn tells U.S. troops: Obama "is gonna get you killed."

Beck speaks for one third of the nation: "[Y]ou will have to shoot me in the forehead before you take away my gun" and "before I acquiesce and be silent."

Beck: "This game is for keeps"; "[Y]ou can shoot me in the head ... but there will be 10 others that line up."

Beck: "There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America."

Morris: "Those crazies ... who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents' " are "beginning to have a case."

RedState's Erickson: "At what point do the people ... march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp?

Savage: "We're going to have a revolution in this country"; "These people are pushing the wrong people around."

Quinn calls for "riots": "Our country was built on revolution, and it's about time we took it back."

Limbaugh: Obama "inciting violence" at town hall protests, "armying up" with "union bigshots", "tort lawyers"

Chuck Norris in WND: "[W]hen that time comes ... will history need to record a second American Revolution?"

Beck pours gasoline on "average American," asks, "President Obama, why don't you just set us on fire?"

Beck portrays Obama, Democrats as vampires, suggests "driv[ing] a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers." During the March 30 edition his Fox News program, Beck aired a graphic portraying Obama and Democrats as vampires and said, "The government is full of vampires, and they are trying to suck the lifeblood out of the economy." Beck then suggested "driv[ing] a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers." [Glenn Beck, 3/30/09]

Hannity "inspired" by Bachmann's call for "orderly revolution": "[A]s they attack you, you're going to have conservatives like myself in your corner."

What only a year or so ago was the Far Right, and Radical Right & the Radical Christian Right went from being the nutjob extremist to become the base of the Republican Party and were becoming more acceptable in the US media especially Fox News and CNN. It is odd that in the American media these people from rightwing organizations are interviewed as if they were impartial observers when in fact they have a stated partisan pro-conservative, pro-evangelical Christian partisan view and for most of these groups this is all laid out on their websites.

So what has come into view is what some would call "the Perfect Storm" which could lead to some sort of radical action on the part of the angry fear mongering Republicans and their Media Echo-Chamber. Once people are stirred up to an hysterical pitch just about anything becomes a possibility. If Obama is as evil and dangerous as the Radical Right and the Religious Right and Republicans claim then it is logical to assume that some people would act to remove this illegitimate and antidemocratic Hitler -like Tyrant from his position of authority by any means necessary .

This is not that far-fetched when we look at the case for instance of the murder of Dr. Tiller . The individual believed that abortion was equivalent to Hitler's mass murder of Jews in the Shoah/holocaust and therefore he felt justified in his actions. The pro-life anti-abortion movement for over thirty years has been promulgating this view that legal abortion is equivalent to genocide.

Now we have the same people on the right characterizing Obama as being just another Hitler about to begin his own genocidal program ie Eugenics in the United States of America. So what are the members of their audience supposed to conclude from this -any action would therefore be in their minds justifiable.

Thursday, October 1, 2009 Update: Reich Wing Coup? at Politics Plus

Some may question whether or not we should take Newsmax seriously. They’re serious enough that they receive financial support from the RNC, who pay them for email lists.

Finally the story broke in several MSM outlets. For example, Keith Olbermann and Chris Hayes from The Nation discussed it last night on Countdown…

Anyway John Perry has suggested that it may be necessary to stage a coup to oust Obama and his administration.

So for the moment let's assume that such an event were possible the question becomes how should Americans deal with such a threat. Whether or not one is a supporter of President Obama or not there is a bigger issue here. So for most American citizens as loyal and patriotic citizens would agree that such an undertaking as a coup would be a disaster for democratic principles in the United States. On the other hand there may be such a concurrence of events which might make a coup one of a number of contingencies if an administration or President became intolerable to the nation. But this would only be considered in the most extreme of circumstances and therefore cannot even be considered because one disagrees with some policies of the administration. So the decision on the part of the opposition to carry out a coup is not to be taken lightly.

Some argue that we should not even entertain such a possibility. But as you read and listen to the overheated incendiary rhetoric and the "Conspiracy Theories being entertained by some irresponsible Republicans and their Media Echo Chamber of Radical Rightwingers it would seem that they are creating an environment or atmosphere in which some people in positions of authority may take these critics at their word and therefore seriously contemplate such an action. So America maybe past that point of not mentioning the unmentionable .

But it would seem to me that something like a military coup or a mass insurrection becomes less of a contingency if the Mainstream Media. Newspapers, radio, television and those on the net for instance discuss this issue.

For instance Coups are usually carried out with as much secrecy as possible til the moment arrives so talking about it takes away a coups biggest advantage that of surprise and secrecy. So by openly discussing the issue this would possibly neutralize the very idea from being put into action. And once the Media starts to make anyone who makes inflammatory , incendiary remarks which could be viewed as inciting violence maybe these people such as Glenn Beck , Sean Hannity, lou Dobbs, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin , Michele Bachmann and others might be more careful in what they say.

As far as I know advocating a Mass Insurrection in America or most countries is against the law and it shows an utter disregard for the basic principles of democracy. This doesn't arresting or threatening to arrest these merchants of fear but to point out publicly that what they are saying and doing is dangerous ,seditious anti-democratic and unpatriotic and unAmerican. Otherwise these merchants of fear and hate will continue to spew forth all their nonsensical attacks on President Obama while inventing one new frightening conspiracy theory after another.

For instance Glenn Beck shouldn't be off the hook just because he makes a few statements claiming for instance that " I'm not saying that we are in a Fascist state or that Obama intends to create one but as he then slyly says but these are the facts and that the audience can decide what is true or not. Well when the facts and arguments are twisted by Glenn Beck and contain lies, half-truths and loaded and are slanted in a particular way etc which all lead to only one conclusion then his audience is going to come away with the view Glenn Beck intended they have all along.

So it is to a great extent a matter of informing the American public that much of what Glenn Beck and others are saying is questionable and some of it is a matter of fabrication and an attempt to create hysteria in their audience which may lead to unintended consequences ie violent actions of one sort or another going from shouting down people who's policies they don't agree with to bringing guns to Town Hall meetings to shooting people at these events. So it becomes mob violence or insurrection incrementally .

There is also the need to point out that many of the so called impartial experts who appear on Fox News and CNN are in fact part of organizations which are on the Far Right and are extremely conservative in their opinions.

Republicans call for overthrow of U.S. government-Sept. 30, 2009

Excerpts from John Perry's newsmax.com September 29, 2009 column entitled "Obama Risks a Domestic Military Intervention": There is a remote, although gaining, possibility Americas military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the "Obama problem. ...

And another more ominous sign of possible violence:
Obama's Presidency Leads to Right Wing Militia Revivial (MSNBC)

And with the recent murder of a census worker this may mean another indication of more violence against not just Census workers but anyone representing the Federal Government because they have been demonized by Glenn Beck and his "Fellow Travelers" while never being criticized by the Republican party.

People for the American way Right-Wing Census Paranoia [VIDEO]
by Josh on September 25, 2009

There are many unanswered questions about the tragic hanging death of Bill Sparkman, a US Census Bureau employee, in rural Kentucky. But one thing is clear. Right-Wing leaders like Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and media outlets like Fox News have whipped up hysteria and paranoia over the 2010 Census.

Mr. Sparkman's untimely demise may or may not have been the doing of an anti-government fanatic, but it’s clear that the Right is creating an environment that is hostile to Census workers and the Constitutionally-mandated Census.

A steady stream of conspiracy talk by Beck, Bachmann, and others on Fox News has legitimized and propelled conspiracy theories among many everyday Americans who are now terrified of their own government. Talk of rounding up dissidents into concentration camps and nefarious plots by ACORN to steal Congress has fed anti-government sentiment, which could boil over at any moment.

This should be an important wake-up call to those national outlets that have employed fear in pursuit of ratings.

Here is a video compilation of recent Fox News coverage of the 2010 Census -- featuring Beck and Bachmann among others -- along with three amateur YouTube videos created by Americans who fear the Census:

Pentagon, US Military lie about the proselytizing within the military. The Uberconservatives in the US see nothing wrong with such proselytizing . But even people in Obama's administration including evangelicals such as Hilary Clinton believe America is on a mission from God to smash Islam and other religions at any cost.
Evangelizing the Military Pt 2

Erik Prince who is the president of Blackwater is an Evangelical Fundamentalist who is convinced that he and his mercenaries are on a mission from God. And for all of Obama's speeches on Separation of Church and state there is no evidence so far that he is willing to take action to defend the principle of separation of Church and State .
The Nation's Jeremy Scahill describes the rise of Blackwater USA, the world's most powerful mercenary army.

Pentagon Evangelicals/ Christian Embassy (John MacArthur) Nov. 2008
"We are the aroma of Jesus Christ"

For instance the narrator says that American politicians & Pentagon would be upset about proselytizing if they were made aware of it. But this is not true for the last thirty years proselytizing has been growing within the US military with approval by the Pentagon, the Congress and the Whitehouse.

President Obama & others are only upset about this going public and that the film paints a negative view of these Evangelical Fundamentalist- whereas American military and the Pentagon & Blackwater /XE & a majority of American politicians including Republicans and Democrats see nothing wrong with this and in fact believe as Americans have for at least the last thirty years or so (and possibly since the signing of The Declaration of Independence) that it is on a Mission from God. So if Obama were to take substantive action to rid the military of Proselytizing Evangelicals -the Pentagon , the CIA, the Chaplaincy & Congress would refuse to act and or rebel and replace Obama by whatever means necessary.

Staging a Coup-

Inorder for a coup to take place various elements have to come into play. For a coup to succeed those who favor it need to establish a number of key alliances. For example the military, Pentagon, the CIA or FBI and private contractors such as Blackwater/XE.

They will also need to convince a large section of the population that whether the people knew it or not the government had some nefarious hidden agenda which it was about to put into action so it was in effect a national emergency. In this matter controlling the Media TV, Newspapers, radio, the internet is key.

The alliances they would require would include support by a part of the US military. As we have seen the Evangelical Fundamentalist have infiltrated the US military chaplaincy to the extent that they control and make up 80% or more of its members.

We have also seen how the Pentagon has become riddled with proselytizing officers who have taken on an Evangelical Fundamentalist world view which has come to see America as playing a major role in God's plan for humanity. They see themselves as Warriors for Jesus and their message and purpose with the help of the Military Chaplaincy has moved down the ranks.

So it would appear given the right sort of circumstances and a massive campaign /media blitz attacking Obama and his administration that the Radical Right could count on the cooperation of a large segment of the media.,the US Military, private contractors/mercenaries,militias such as the minutemen, patriots and at least moral and political support from a significant number of Religious Right leaders and their supporters. Of course this is merely speculation given that there are those on the right who have actually come close to advocating such a scenario as an insurrection or coup to oust Obama.

Military coup fantasy is latest in trend of extremist right-wing rhetoric Media Matters.org Sept. 30, 2009

Continuing a trend of increasingly violent and revolutionary rhetoric advanced by conservative media figures, Newsmax columnist John Perry wrote that President Obama "is inviting" a military coup and detailed the reasons he said officers might support such a "[m]ilitary intervention" with the end result being one in which "[s]killed, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars." On the same day, radio host Jim Quinn told armed service members to "run for your life, get out," because Obama "is gonna get you killed."
Perry, Quinn latest to engage in extremist, revolutionary right-wing rhetoric

Newsmax columnist John Perry asserts Obama "is inviting" a "[m]ilitary intervention." Perry wrote, "There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America's military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the 'Obama problem.' Don't dismiss it as unrealistic." He added:

Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a "family intervention," with some form of limited, shared responsibility?

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama's exponentially accelerating agenda for "fundamental change" toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama's radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible. [Newsmax.com, 9/29/09]

Jim Quinn tells U.S. troops: Obama "is gonna get you killed." Discussing rules of engagement in Afghanistan, Quinn stated on his radio show, "The only reason you put military anywhere is to win and win as quickly as you can, as ruthlessly as you can, because mercifully it will be over quick, instead of turning it into a meat grinder. I'm looking at -- guys, look, I love you all who go over there and serve, but I gotta tell you right now, run for your life, get out, this guy is gonna get you killed. Man, these people are scary." [Clear Channel's The War Room with Quinn & Rose, 9/29/09]
Conservative media increasingly preach rhetoric of violence, revolution

Media Matters for America has previously noted that since Obama's inauguration, conservative media figures have made ominous, even apocalyptic claims about the impact policies pursued by Obama and other progressives might have on the United States and have unleashed violent and revolutionary rhetoric. For instance:

Beck speaks for one third of the nation: "[Y]ou will have to shoot me in the forehead before you take away my gun" and "before I acquiesce and be silent." During the July 30 edition of his radio show, Beck warned "ACORN, GE, Obama, SEIU" that "you are awakening a sleeping giant, and I have nothing to do with it" and that "America is waking up. You know the American Revolution took place with 12 percent of the population? Twelve. Are you telling me there is not 30 percent of this population that you will have to shoot me in the forehead before I let somebody into my house to tell me how to raise my children; you will have to shoot me in the forehead before you take away my gun; you will have to shoot me in the forehead before I acquiesce and be silent." Beck further stated:

They cannot move on these things, because they are building a machine that will crush the entrepreneurial sprit and the freedom that our Founding Fathers designed. This machine, whatever it is they are building, will crush it. Do not let them build another piece.

So while I turn away, I want to make sure that I have at least 10 million eyes watching -- watching every single move they are making.

We know why they're doing what they're doing. You need to do what you need to do, and as long as that is peaceful, we will save our country. [Premiere Radio Networks' The Glenn Beck Program, 7/30/09]

Beck: "This game is for keeps"; "[Y]ou can shoot me in the head ... but there will be 10 others that line up." Asking his audience to "pray for protection," Beck claimed that "the most powerful people on the planet on the left" were "not going to go away easy" because "[t]his game is for keeps. This is who controls the United States of America and its destiny." He went on to state, "Just pray for protection, please." Beck subsequently stated:

You can try to put the lid on this group of people, but you will never silence us. You will never -- you can shoot me in the head, you can shoot the next guy in the head, but there will be 10 others that line up. And it may not happen today, it may not happen next week, but freedom will be restored in this land. Period. And no matter what you want to call it, it is a totalitarian state that you're headed towards. [The Glenn Beck Program, 9/08/09]

Beck: "There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America." During the August 31 edition of his radio show, Beck stated that "there is a revolution, and they think they can get away with it quietly." Beck further claimed, "At this point, gang, I'm not sure, they may be able to because they are so far ahead of us. They know what they're dealing against; most of America does not yet. Most of America doesn't have a clue as to what's going on. There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America, and the way it is done, it has been done through the -- the guise of an election, but they lied to us the entire time." He also said, "And they're gonna say, 'we did it democratically,' and they are going to grab power every way they can. And God help us in an emergency." [The Glenn Beck Program, 8/31/09]

Morris: "Those crazies ... who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents' " are "beginning to have a case." During the March 31 edition of Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto, while discussing Obama's foreign and economic policies, Fox News contributor Dick Morris said: "Those crazies in Montana who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents because the U.N.'s going to take over' -- well, they're beginning to have a case." [Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto, 3/31/09]

RedState's Erickson: "At what point do the people ... march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp?" In a March 31 post on RedState.com, while discussing a Washington county's ban on certain kinds of dishwasher detergent, managing editor Erick Erickson wrote of politicians: "At what point do the people tell the politicians to go to hell? At what point do they get off the couch, march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?" Erickson later added: "Were I in Washington State, I'd be cleaning my gun right about now waiting to protect my property from the coming riots or the government apparatchiks coming to enforce nonsensical legislation." [RedState.com, 3/31/09]

Savage: "We're going to have a revolution in this country"; "These people are pushing the wrong people around." Michael Savage discussed multiculturalism and predicted, "This is not going to go on in this country much longer. We're going to have a revolution in this country if this keeps up. These people are pushing the wrong people around." Savage further said that "the rage has reached a boil. If they keep pushing us around, and if we keep having these schmucks running for office catering to the multicultural people who are destroying the culture of this country ... guaranteed the people -- the white male in particular." He continued:

Let me talk specifically. The white male in particular -- the one without connections, the one without money -- has nothing to lose, and you haven't seen him yet. You haven't seen him explode in this country, and he's still a majority, by the way. In case you don't know it. He is still the majority. No one speaks for him. Everyone craps on him. People use him for cannon fodder. And he has no voice whatsoever. He has nobody speaking for him.

So he goes to these extreme fighting events. Take a look at them, and you'll see what the white male is capable of. And you're going to find out that if you keep pushing this country around, you'll find out that there's an ugly side to the white male that has been suppressed for probably 30 years right now, but it really has never gone away.[Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation, 8/21/09]

Quinn calls for "riots": "Our country was built on revolution, and it's about time we took it back." Discussing health care reform, Jim Quinn stated, "You have got to say no to this, and if they push this through, you need to riot in the streets. You need to riot in the streets." He further said, "Our country was built on revolution and it's about time we took it back. These people are dangerous," and "It's about time to put an end to this leftist control of this country, and if a revolution is what it takes, damn it , then that's what it's going to take, because liberty will not be denied." [The War Room with Quinn and Rose, 9/10/09]

Limbaugh: Obama "inciting violence" at town hall protests, "armying up" with "union bigshots", "tort lawyers" Rush Limbaugh claimed that "public sector union bigshots and the tort lawyers" were "the people that Obama is armying up with. These are the people Obama is marshalling to prevent you from engaging in the democratic process while saying you're sabotaging it. No incidents of violence [at the August town hall protests] until Obama's crowd showed up." Limbaugh further claimed that Obama was "inciting violence." [Premiere Radio Networks' The Rush Limbaugh Show, 8/7/09]

Chuck Norris in WND: "[W]hen that time comes ... will history need to record a second American Revolution?" In a March 9 column for WorldNetDaily, actor and political activist Chuck Norris wrote: "How much more will Americans take? When will enough be enough? And, when that time comes, will our leaders finally listen or will history need to record a second American Revolution? We the people have the authority according to America's Declaration of Independence." Norris also wrote, "On Glenn Beck's radio show last week, I quipped in response to our wayward federal government, 'I may run for president of Texas.' That need may be a reality sooner than we think." [WorldNetDaily, 3/9/09]

Beck pours gasoline on "average American," asks, "President Obama, why don't you just set us on fire?" During the April 9 edition of his Fox News program, Glenn Beck claimed to be imitating Obama while pouring liquid from a gasoline can -- which he later stated was water -- on an "average American." Beck said during his demonstration: "President Obama, why don't you just set us on fire? ... We didn't vote to lose the republic."[Fox News' Glenn Beck, 4/9/09]

Hannity "inspired" by Bachmann's call for "orderly revolution": "[A]s they attack you, you're going to have conservatives like myself in your corner." During the March 25 edition of Sean Hannity's radio program, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) told Hannity she is calling for "an orderly revolution" so that Democrats can't "achieve their ends any longer." In response to Bachmann's statement, Hannity said: "Well, I'm inspired by what you're saying, Congresswoman, and I only hope that your fellow Republicans get as energetic and as outspoken as you are here." At the conclusion of the interview, Hannity encouraged Bachmann to "keep going, and I promise you, as they attack you, you're going to have conservatives like myself in your corner, I promise you." Hannity then added: "Boy, that was inspiring." [ABC Radio Networks' The Sean Hannity Show, 3/25/09]

History and Analysis of Right-Wing attempts at Coup d'etat smkovalinsky at NowPublic.com Aug. 30, 2009

As a writer with an academic past in philosophical analysis of political events, one of the issues which captures my attention is the idea of government overthrow: Its feasibility, the causes of its ideology, its agenda and its members. In my internet trawlings, I found this poignant piece, excellent in its backward look at an era paralleling our own in sensibilty and tone. From ObamersDotCom:

It wouldn't be the first time. The first rightwing attempt to overthrow the government was driven by an alliance of big business and army veterans. The Liberty League consisted of very rich men in the 1930s who loathed FDR. They included leaders from DuPont, GM, EF Hutton, General Foods, GM, Montgomery Ward, JP Morgan, the Hearst newspapers, Lehigh University, Princeton, Yale, U.S. Steel, Standard Oil (Exxon), Chase National Bank, Goodyear, Birdseye Foods, Colgate, Heinz, Mutual Life...and Prescott Bush. Some Democratic leaders belonged. The group was so powerful that even New York Times gave them dozens of positive front-page stories. Prefiguring today's rightwingers, they screeched that FDRs policies betokened "a trend toward Fascist control," and the end of democracy." Their aim was to use WWI veterans to overthrow FDR so the fatcats could put their own man in. Their first choice to lead the charge was Douglas MacArthur, but the veterans hated him because he had crushed the Bonus Army march a year or two earlier, so they turned instead to another general, Smedley Butler, who (luckily for us all) had the good sense to blow the whistle on these loons in Congress.

and using such rhetoric as Obama :An Enemy of Humanity" creates a very unhealthy climate in America:
