Israel's Ironic/Iconic moment???

The Dolphin class submarines are built for Israel in a shipyard in Kiel (March 2012 photo).
A German shipyard has already built three submarines for Israel, and three more are planned. Now SPIEGEL has learned that Israel is arming the submarines with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. The German government has known about Israel's nuclear weapons program for decades, despite its official denials.

The first thing to leap into one's mind is that Germany is proud to build nuclear missile ready submarines as part of their attempts to assuage Germany's guilt in the Shoah in which some six-million Jews were slaughtered. So can we assume this is part of Germany's atonement for its crimes against the Jewish people. My further commentary below after student protests.

Today's Rants

*Student Protests in Canada becoming a larger movement as it appeals to Canadians upset over austerity policies and over police brutality and the passing of anti-democratic laws outlawing protests.
*Israel's Ironic moment as it receives German submarines refitted for the use of Israel's Nuclear Weapons (which Israel denies having???).
Nuclear capable submarines Germany's atonement for the Holocaust/Shoah in which the German NAZI's slaughtered six-million Jews.

Student Protests continue to grow in Canada in response to government austerity policies and to the draconian anti-democratic laws passed in the province of Quebec. The police in Canada are helping the movement to grow by their over the top presence and their mistreatment and brutality they have visited upon peaceful protesters. As for the more violent protesters firstly they do not represent the hundreds of thousands of ordinary Canadians who have been protesting no matter what the Canadian Media such as the CBC and CTV etc. and commentators such as the neo-liberal Rex Murphy who takes delight in seeing police beating up his fellow citizens. Rex Murphy to me is merely a symptom of what has gone wrong with the Mainstream Media and the Canadian elites whom Pierre Burton once referred to as The Comfortable Minority who don't give a damn about their fellow citizens unless they are well off and /or well connected.

But what can we as Canadians expect as we see little time in the Mainstream Media spent on covering these massive demonstrations in a serious and thoughtful manner in considering the various issues of this idiotic notion of massive government cut backs during these difficult economic times. The government if it is serious should refute this bogus ant-government neo-liberal neocon hyper-deregulated voodoo ,Trickele-down Reaganesques indefensible economic sleight of hand theory borrowed from the 19th Century Gilded age of Robber Barons and the mindset of F... the lower classes who are lucky that the elites allow them to even breathe.

It is because of that theory of less government and deregulation and the promotion of unfettered Monopolistic capitalism that the elites in the USA, Canada and the European Nations are now responding to the legitimate grievances of their citizenry by even more downsizing and cuts to basic services combined with a militarized police ordered to to contain and brutally crush any dissent or public protest. In the world of the Neo-liberals such as Rex Murphy everything is all sunshine and rainbows as long as he and the elite he supports are doing well financially.

The other disturbing thing about the Mainstream Media is that while they ignore police brutality while focusing on the smaller group of protesters who are violent but who may also be egged on by undercover police and paid thugs acting as agent provocateurs.

Meanwhile the Canadian and British Media have been focused over the past week on Queen Elizabeth's 60th anniversary of her meaningless vapid rein even though she and her self-promoting self-indulgent family contribute nothing positive to society.
Thei main contribution to Canadian governance and society is to remind the citizenry that there is in deed a natural hierarchy of classes in which the upper classes by their very nature are superior to those in the lower classes.
While watching some bits of these celebrations on TV I was hoping or imagining having some real rock and roller go on stage and sing the Sex Pistols song which was dedicated to what they considered the British government's repressive regime under the neo-Fascist Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher who was loved by the elites who applauded while she set out to destroy the unions and undermine social programs aimed at the poor and the working poor .

Quebec Students Resist State Repression

Israel's Ironic/Iconic Moment

Just wondering isn't there something not quite kosher here besides the fact that Germany is building Submarines nuclear missile equipped when Israel and Germany and even the USA deny that Israel has nuclear weapons. But Israel's nuclear capabilities have been an open secret for decades and part of Israel's and America's duplicity and hypocrisy when dealing with other nations such as Iran in the possible development of nuclear weapons. Iran denies it has or is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran's notable Mullahs have issued fatwas against building or using Nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass Destruction including chemical or biological weapons. Israel has never said it would not use Nuclear or chemical or biological weapons since the International laws concerning WMDs do not apply to Israel. Israel has also continued to use other weapons such as land mines, white phosphorus, cluster bombs etc. which are banned by a majority of nations excepting especially Israel and the USA and NATO forces. (correct me if I'm wrong)

The USA and NATO recently publicly stated officially that they would not rule out a nuclear first strike or the use of land mines, white phosphorus ,cluster bombs etc. The US controlled NATO also claim international laws are just quaint remnants of the past and are therefore non-binding on NATO, the USA and Israel. So they believe that they have the right to kidnap ie extraordinary renditions or targeted assassinations in their own countries as well as in any other nation in the world. In other words the sovereignty of other nations is not taken seriously any more by the USA, NATO and Israel and I guess any of their allies. It seems as if the USA, NATO and Israel are just softening up the citizenry of their respective nations to the idea of a nuclear pre-emptive strike against whomever they wish. So they may Nuke Iran at any time or possibly Syria or Pakistan or North Korea . Anyway you get the picture that at any moment if the USA or Israel feel threatened they believe it is strategically and morally their right to attack other nations.

Israel Deploys Nuclear Weapons on German-Built Submarines By Spiegel via Information Clearing House, June 4,2012

June 04, 2012 "Spiegel" -- A German shipyard has already built three submarines for Israel, and three more are planned. Now SPIEGEL has learned that Israel is arming the submarines with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. The German government has known about Israel's nuclear weapons program for decades, despite its official denials.

Germany is helping Israel to develop its military nuclear capabilities, SPIEGEL has learned. According to extensive research carried out by the magazine, Israel is equipping submarines that were built in the northern German city of Kiel and largely paid for by the German government with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. The missiles can be launched using a previously secret hydraulic ejection system. Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak told SPIEGEL that Germans should be "proud" that they have secured the existence of the state of Israel "for many years."

In the past, the German government has always stuck to the position that it is unaware of nuclear weapons being deployed on the vessels. Now, however, former high-ranking officials from the German Defense Ministry, including former State Secretary Lothar Rühl and former chief of the planning staff Hans Rühle, have told SPIEGEL that they had always assumed that Israel would deploy nuclear weapons on the submarines. Rühl had even discussed the issue with the military in Tel Aviv

Israel has a policy of not commenting officially on its nuclear weapons program. Documents from the archives of the German Foreign Ministry make it clear, however, that the German government has known about the program since 1961. The last discussion for which there is evidence took place in 1977, when then-Chancellor Helmut Schmidt spoke to then-Israeli Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan about the issue.

The submarines are built by the German shipyard HDW in Kiel. Three submarines have already been delivered to Israel, and three more will be delivered by 2017. In addition, Israel is considering ordering its seventh, eighth and ninth submarines from Germany.

The German government recently signed the contract for the delivery of the sixth vessel. According to information obtained by SPIEGEL, Chancellor Angela Merkel made substantial concessions to the Israelis. Not only is Berlin financing one-third of the cost of the submarine, around €135 million ($168 million), but it is also allowing Israel to defer its payment until 2015.

Merkel had tied the delivery of the sixth submarine to a number of conditions, including a demand that Israel stop its expansionist settlement policy and allow the completion of a sewage treatment plant in the Gaza Strip, which is partially financed with German money. So far, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met none of the terms.
