Glenn Beck'S Hate Project: American Fascism , Nazis, Eugenics & Lyndon Larouche Part 3

UPDATED: 3:04 AM & 12:56 PM Sept. 26,2001

Birth of a Nation( 1915) described how Lincoln had undermined state sovereignty and created a powerful federal government. It depicted Northern blacks and freed slaves as monstrous villains who were destroying white civilization and abusing their new-found power after the Civil War. The major villain of the film is a mulatto, a man of "mixed white and black race".

..(In) the final climax of the film... the Ku Klux Klan (as the heroes) unites to save a town from "Negro anarchy"

Anyway Doesn't this sound familiar as we hear the Rightwing in America talking about Obama who is part black and part white and who is seen as a Usurper who is accused like Lincoln of increasing the power of the US Federal Government???(GORD.)

"Though it is often said today that the concept of an "Aryan race" was invented by Hitler or the Nazis, this is not true. The concept of an Aryan race certainly predates the rise of Nazism. Here, in 1915, in the most popular film in American history up to that time, the entire story focused on the concept of defending the Aryan race. " R.G.Price

Is this the America which some Republicans and uberconservatives such as Pat Buchanan are nostalgic for!!!
1925 400,000 Ku Klux Klan march on Washington
Above book The International Jew - an anti-semitic tirade and conspiracy theory published By the Hate-Filled Fanatically Anti-Semitic Henry Ford by his Dearborn Press.

Ford even received a medal of honor from the Nazis for his support-and American school children are still taught to admire Henry Ford -Does Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity , Lou Dobbs , Limbaugh etc. approve of Fords Anti-Semitisn and his racist views???

From the film "Birth Of A Nation" 1915 by the racist G.W. Griffiths another great American Racist which led to the rebirth of the Klan- North and South now had a common enemy African-Americans-Jim-Crow was king & Lynching was a family outing as American as Apple Pie.

"It is not necessary to wear brown shirts to be a fascist," LaRouche once wrote. "It is simply necessary to be one!"

...The extent to which LaRouche's ideas actually penetrated mainstream politics.. is evident in the 1986 California battle over Proposition 64. Although the LaRouchian-sponsored proposal to quarantine AIDS patients was ultimately defeated by voters, the measure--which...echoed Hitler's Mein Kampf proposal to quarantine syphilis patients--successfully reframed the mid-1980s debate about AIDS.

"People called it a 'humiliating defeat' for LaRouche,I regard it as a stunning victory: Over 2 million people voted to quarantine a hated minority--and they did it knowing the measure was sponsored by dangerous extremist Lyndon LaRouche. It showed the radical right how to make previously unacceptable ideas palatable--how gradually to make an unacceptable idea discussable and entirely conceivable."
From: The LaRouche legacyAUTHOR LIFTS VEIL ON LYNDON LaROUCHE Traces extremist's rise to power and influence By SARA FRANKEL, San Francisco Examiner, Sunday, August 27, 1989

In attempting to understand Glenn Beck and other Rightwing Media personalities we need to understand the Radical Right & Religious Right or currently the Republicans since these groups have become mixed and interchangeable . Is this for lack of a better term Uberconservative movement on the rise in the US or is it in its last desperate death throws and so lashing out before it becomes inconsequential. I don't believe it is a dying movement but rather it is if you like morphing into something else which may be more focused and more dangerous. These voices have become more strident combining their fear and hatred of Big Government which they see expanding combined with what they see as the crisis of illegal-immigration and America going in the wrong direction as its traditional values are being undermined and replaced by UnAmerican and anti-Christian Values of the "Liberals", "Secular Humanists", the Radical Left and Socialists and Feminists and the Gay agenda so their America is under siege and action must be taken but the concern is can they wait until the November election 2010 or the general election of 2012.

The images above of the Ku Kux Klan marching 400,000 strong on Washington in 1925 we could compare to Glenn beck's 9/12 Tea Party march on Washington. What is notable about that Klan march is that before G.W. Griffiths release in 1915 of his racist white Supremacist/Nativist film Birth of A Nation the KKK had all but disappeared. The film was a success as a recruitment film for the Klan. Griffiths film was call to arms for White Americans.Glenn Beck and organizer Dick Armey were hoping for a similar reaction with the 9/12 March so the question remains did it succeed. Yes we are told that only 75,000 showed up but the supporters are still arguing over this figure which they are convinced is a deliberate underestimation by their enemies the Liberal Biased Media . Visiting their various website blogs, tweeter Face Book etc. they consistently put the number of demonstrators at hundreds of thousand at half a milion to one and a half million . Beck has been repeating these numbers on his radio show and on his website. So their perception is what matters and so many of these Uberconservatives who are anti-government and anti-Obama are embolden by what they see as a resounding success. Because of the reporting according to their perception by the biased liberal press if anything they are even more convinced that America is being taken over by liberal subversive socialist and communist elements. So their resolve is now deepened as they are egged on by Uberconservative leaders and Media personalities such as Glenn Beck.

Keith Olbermann and others may make fun of these people but Americans should take them seriously as a serious threat to American Democracy . As far as these Uberconservatives are concerned democracy has been under mined and even trampled upon by in their view the Obama cult and its millions of supporters. They believe as G.W.Griffiths did that America and Americas traditions, values and its institutions are under attack and the people who are the "real Americans" must rise up to make America for Americans and not certain unAmerican minorities and the on-going invasion by Latinos from the across the Southern Border.

The Birthers and other conspiracy theorists seeing the world through this prism of conspiracies are becoming even more active for instance on the internet hoping to set brush fires across the nation. For instance Gun and Bullet sales in the US are still on the rise since Obama's election a year ago and suppliers are unable to keep up with the demand. So there is the very real possibility of an all out insurrection or a Coup D'etat to replace the Obama administration which they see for various reasons to be an illegitimate government so according to their reading of the US Constitution they have the right and the duty to remove it. Barring this extreme scenario their is the danger of a small percentage of these uberconservatives taking the law as it were into their own hands. Historically this is a possibility given the rise of the Klan and Fascist movements and rises in anti-semitism etc. in the 1920s and 1930s with the help of racists such as Henry Ford and Father Coughlin and the various Nazi and Fascist organizations during that period. For instance the Klan was not as Southern Apologist try to claim merely some sort of benign private club where men went to indulge in male-bonding rituals but rather it was a terrorist organization which aided and abetted the lynchings of some 12,000 US citizens most of them black and the others were accused of giving aid and comfort to the Klan's enemies Blacks, Hispanics, Catholics and Jews and non-European immigrants.
With the present economic crisis in America and what these Uberconservatives see as unAmerican radical change taking place we can't help but notice that America is now about to enter if it hasn't already the Perfect Storm or Conditions for such a violent upheaval.

Controversial Glenn Beck
Whether Glenn Beck is channeling anger or stirring it up, he is certainly capitalizing on it. As his success on both radio and television continues to grow, Beck spoke exclusively to Katie Couric this week.

As Steve Krakauer points out in discussing the Katie Couric interview of the popular rabble rousing Professional Agitator Cum Media Star Glenn Beck this is a clash of cultural views but this avoids the fact that she is treating Beck as if he were some reasonable journalist committed to the facts and committed to journalistic integrity.By doing so Couric and Time etc. are lending some credibility to Glenn Beck's lies, misinformation and propaganda. When things get tough for Beck he will then suddenly claim only to be an entertainers and stand-up comedian. But this is disingenuous to say the least . He nightly runs his bizarre freak show which goes from bizarre and humorous to his maudlin fake tears as he pronounces how is the one true voice in America who will go on asking questions and will present the truth no matter how disturbing it may be. In the end it is mainly doom and gloom and apocalyptic as he shows hydrogen bombs exploding and a world gone mad.

"Katie Couric And Glenn Beck: Tense Moments As Worlds Collide" by Steve Krakauer |at Mediaite.com, September 23rd, 2009

...There was one legitimately tense exchange – and a Twitter question is to blame. Throughout the interview Beck would sometimes joke about Couric looking for a soundbite, and his fear of ‘getting in trouble’ over an answer. But when he was asked to explain what “white culture” is, which was part of his comments about whether Pres. Obama was racist, he began to avoid the question. In the subsequent minutes, Beck explained how his answer, no matter what it was, would be taken out of context and he was falling into a “trap.” Couric pushed on, until finally, Beck refused to answer.

It was a moment when Couric shined – and one that those who felt she was too tough on Sarah Palin will point to as indicative of her political beliefs. Instead, she was fair throughout the interview, asking probing questions while maintaining her cool. The comments were split in various directions – some felt she was too easy on him, precisely because she was so calm throughout, listening and responding. This is what Katie Couric does best – getting thought-provoking comments out of newsmakers. But it should not be lost that this interview was double the amount of time she gets for her day job – an average evening newscast. Some will question whether her success here proves there are better outlets for the star.

There will be other newsmaking @katiecouric interviews, but CBS News will be hard pressed to get as much buzz as this one. Someone will say something – a soundbite – that will go viral, but the intersection of the master of alternative media and one of the faces of mainstream media was a fascinating, and legitimately buzz-worthy event.

So with Katie Couric's interview of Glenn Beck combined with the recent Time cover article about Glenn Beck he has become a media star . But Couric and the Time's article tend to gloss over his insane and inflammatory and incendiary outrageous lies and misinformation and his promulgating of one wacky conspiracy theory after another even ones which are contradictory. He has given time to the Birthers, the FEMA Camp scenario or that Obama is working for The New World Order or that he is a Fascist, a Nazi, a Communist, a collectivist, a socialist or a secret Muslim and possibly the Anti-Christ or the one who precedes the Anti-Christ laying the necessary groundwork to allow the Satanic Forces and Principalities to take control of the world.

But Glenn Beck jumps around moving from one conspiracy theory to the other but in the end what is dangerous about all his nonsense is that he is promulgating the erroneous notion that Obama is in one way or another a usurper of the presidency and is using his power to fundamentally transform America in ways which go against the basic founding principles of America. And if any of this is true about Obama then logic and the US Constitution dictates that it is every Real American's duty to remove the Obama administration followed by a removal from American society all those Americans who have become his fanatical mindless supporters.

By avoiding the more controversial views and his bizarre antics such as pretending to poison Nancy Pelosi, or setting someone on fire or his disturbing videos such as Praise To Obama or his inaccurate little animated history lessons on the history of illegal-immigration or the founding of America . Beck describes illegal-immigrants in terms similar to those used by the Nazis in their erroneous characterization of the Jews. He describes these illegal-immigrants as criminals who are bringing disease, immorality, drugs and crime to America while secretly plotting to take over a large section of the US as their country or even take over all of America. They are therefore the enemy without who have become the enemy within. And the historical fact of the Native American Genocide carried out by European settlers to Glenn Beck is just another lie made up by UnAmerican and anti-American liberals, secular humanists and the intellectual elite whom he believes hate America. The millions of Native Americans slaughtered doesn't fit with Glenn Beck's and other conservatives with their idealized , romanticized and mythologized Faux History of America and so they want to return to a revisionist history which shows European settlers and Real Americans as good Christians who only killed when they had to.

Anyway Glenn Beck's war on progressives is as discussed in previous posts similar to the 1950s era during which Senator Joseph McCarthy led a paranoid witch hunt for Communists deliberately place in positions of power by various presidents from FDR to Eisenhower . Now Glenn Beck is doing all in his power according to him as a "simple average patriotic American" to out Progressives who were known to be Progressives and radicals and yet (liberals, socialists, atheists) have been chosen to be chief advisers or Czars in the Obama administration. He never discusses or mention the fact that President George W. Bush had 47 Czars and that Ronald Reagan also had a number of Czars. But Beck has little interest in inconvenient facts which may undermine his outrageous incendiary claims. Beck is all about Propaganda and stirring up the base who can be assured because of Beck's wild accusations and conspiracy theories that removing Obama from power in any way necessary is justified because Obama is trying to radically transform America and by doing so contravening the US Constitution and Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence .

In Glenn Beck's view and that of many other members of the Religious Right, which includes Evangelical Fundamentalist, UltraConservative Catholics and Jews and Mormons to name a few, no American has the right to a different interpretation of these in his view sacred holy documents because they were given to the Founding Fathers by the means of Divine Providence and Divine Intervention by God Himself. So these texts are really an extension to the Bible itself and so to dispute particular parts of these texts as well as the Bible is sacrilegious. Note since Glenn Beck is a Mormon then he must also hold the Book of Mormon as a sacred text and a further revelation and fulfillment of God's plan and God'Law for humankind.

America appears to be at the crossroads - either America will move forward and become more progressive developing an attitude and policies similar to those in Canada and most of Europe in which there is a more mixed economy of the Free Market Place and Capitalism mixed in with some socialist programs and policies and thereby accepting that each of these different ideologies is the better program or policy depending upon the issue. This does not mean moving towards a collectivist or Communist state nor does it mean abandoning capitalists policies and programs where they work best. Part of the issue at hand is a willingness to take more risk in experimenting with various programs to determine which is best in which areas. This does not mean wiping the slate clean and starting all over again. For one thing there are living examples in other countries which can be studied to see which ones would work best in America.

On the other hand Americans can insist on maintaining the status quo or even become more radically capitalistic just in order to keep America distinct from other countries. Being different just for the sake of being different doesn't seem to be a rational workable solution. This is the sort of thinking we associate with immature adolescents or fanatics. They will not change nor back down even when the facts show them that they are wrong. So America can become more egalitarian or less and that is the fundamental choice.Of course in any other country there would be a number of other possibilities but Americans have for the most part seen issues and policies in terms of dichotomies black and white and either/or, Progressive or conservative.

Relation between American Eugenics, socialism, Hitler ,Nazi & Obama

Life unworthy of life
Glenn Beck: Eugenics, Progressives, Hitler, The Economy & Barack Obama [1/2]

Glenn beck is right to be concerned about any revival of Eugenics and the creation of a perfect race through abortion, euthanasia , sterilization etc. but he's got part of the story wrong and so it is questionable about whether his charges against Obama have any validity. Though it maybe doubtful whether he cares if his allegations are valid or not. On the other hand if he is sincere then he believes what he does and these "facts" are merely the creation of those who wish to push their agenda forward.

But the other question is did Glenn Beck and other Republicans and Right wingers and the America for Real Americans Brown-Shirts borrow the notion of Death Panels and Eugenics from Lyndon Larouche's Fascist group???

Months before Glenn Beck and others including Republicans began talking about "Death Panels" and Eugenics and "pulling the Plug on Grandma" the notorious Fascist Lyndon Larouche's magazine online was already comparing Obama's health care reform bills to the Nazis Eugenics program. And like Larouche Beck sees the Rockefeller Family as part of the Great Conspiracy along with Trade Unions Illuminati Masons Blacks Hispanics Asians Buddhists Muslims Hindus - Beware the Buddhists are coming and then them Russians!!!Is Beck now as insane as Larouche or just as savvy & cunning as a fox.

This article appears in the May 22, 2009 issue of the LaRouche Executive Intelligence Review.

"LaRouche: Obama Has Revived Hitler's Genocide Program" by John Hoefle

May 15—In October 1939, Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler issued an order, written in his own hand, ordering the extermination of those who were considered "unworthy of life." The order, entitled "The Destruction of Lives Unworthy of Life," stated that patients "considered incurable according to the best available human judgment of their state of health, be accorded a mercy death."

Hitler's murder spree started with the mentally ill, the terminally ill, invalids, and the disabled, and eventually spread to millions of Jews, Gypsies, and other "undesirables"—worked to death or exterminated in concentration camps.

This monstrous program was initially sold as an economic measure: "The economic burden represented by people suffering from hereditary diseases is a danger for the State and society," Nazi Dr. Gerhard Wagner said at the Nazi party congress in 1934. The Nazis required all state institutions to report on patients who were chronically ill, and used those reports as the basis to decide which patients should be killed.

Today, the Obama Administration is beginning to descend down that same road, promising to make the "tough choices" to cut entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security to save money—at precisely the time in which an increasing number of Americans are forced to depend on them as the economy slides deeper into Depression. Obama is willing to spend trillions of dollars to bail out the financial markets, and pay for it by slashing programs which keep ordinary Americans alive.

Glenn Beck is erroneous in his simplistic characterization of Progressives and socialists and lumping them in with the Nazis and Fascists and Communist .He falsely sees little difference from minor or major reforms within the system and "socialism" , Communism or the Fascist and Nazi agendas. The so called socialist reforms as promoted by Democratic Socialists is eons apart from the radical Marxist-Leninist Communism.

Democratic socialism argues that the wealthy should pay their fair share of taxes which may mean a ten percent increase whereas Marxist Leninist would require the wealthy to give up all that they have and there would be an absolute 100% redistribution of wealth and property.True Marxist would call progressives and moderate socialists mere tinkerers. But those of us on the left are aware that the "Communist workers paradise" is as much a fantasy as Reagan's voodoo trickle down theory of economics or 19th century Laissez Faire Capitalism during which period most people lived lives that were "nasty brutish and short".

and see: Fascism Part II: The Rise of American Fascism by R. G. Price at Rational Revolution.net May 15, 2004

... Throughout the late 1800s, the twilight of the Enlightenment era, a new world-view was being increasingly adopted. Marxism, socialism, and scientific sociology were having a profound impact on society. In the late 1800s and the early 1900s the idea was being advanced that people are the products of their social environments - that poverty is a social condition and that people become criminals because of social and economic conditions, etc.

Those advancing these views were largely calling for major social changes to correct these socially created problems. It was in contrast to these ideas that fascism began to develop in societies around the world, especially in America. The idea that poverty, crime and ignorance are a product of social conditions was a threat to the dominant members of society because the call was for these dominant members of society to reform their ways to create increased equality for all people.

In this social climate, those who opposed the idea that society created the problems of individuals put blame on race and bloodline instead. The ideology developed that the "socialists" were wrong, and that society's problems were not caused by oppressive economic conditions, but rather that social problems were caused by genetic inferiority. This is an ideology that was adopted by many wealthy and upper-class Americans and was related to the development of the ideology of "Social Darwinism," the idea that certain people were "genetically" more fit and that the more fit legitimately had the right to rule the inferior. It is out of all of these ideas that the American eugenics programs began, funded by wealthy Americans such as Andrew Carnegie and John Rockefeller. The idea was that people were born poor or born criminal, etc. They were "bad seeds", and thus the problem of poverty was not really a social problem, it was a problem of bloodline, to be fixed by selective breeding programs, forced sterilization, and the maintenance of "racial purity". Racial purity was the idea that races "should not mix" out of the fear that if whites and blacks mixed the inferior black bloodline would "corrupt" the white bloodline, leading to more crime, poverty, and ignorance.

...Dr. Albert Ochsner advocated the sterilization of convicts "to eliminate all habitual criminals from the possibility of having children." In 1902 Dr. Harry Clay Sharp stated: "We make choice of the best rams for our sheep... and keep the best dogs... how careful then should we be in begetting of children!" Sharp also advocated that every state institution should "render every male sterile who passes its portals, whether it be an almshouse, insane asylum, institute for the feeble minded, reformatory, or prison."

... this of course stood in stark contrast to the ideas of "leftist" sociologists who were saying that people were born virtually equal and that differences arose from environmental conditions. These people promoted the idea of rehabilitation of prisoners and the changing of economic conditions to promote economic equality and provide greater access to opportunity for those who were born into poverty.

The author R.G.Price goes on to refer to the film Birth of A Nation as a propaganda film which helped to galvanize the anxiety, fear and paranoia that Southern and Northern Americans had about African-Americans . The movie played on the well known stock stereotypes of Blacks as shifty, lazy , slow, stupid but with a bestial sexual drive which became overpowering according to the stereotype in their desire for white women .

Note the main bad guy in the film is not just black but is mulatto born of white and black parents. One can see some of this bigoted paranoia expressed in the anxiety of a portion of white Americans today in regards to Obama who had a white mother and a black father. So that Obama in their view is worse than any pure black man and so is even less trustworthy and more devious than any black man.

In the movie the director writer G.W. Griffiths has the Ku Klux Klan arrive to save the day and make things right as they fight for the Aryan race and White Supremacy for Christian values and the American Way . The film was not just a critical and box Office success but led to a massive revival of the Klan which had to a great extent disappeared. By 1925 400,000 Klan marched on Washington. In comparison Glenn Beck's 9/12 Project Tea Party march on Washington only managed to get around 75,000 or so to march on Washington. But in that crowd the White Supremacists were well represented . Glenn Beck also had little concern that a number of people were carrying rather blatant racist signs. If he or other had been concerned they could have had these people discard the signs or leave the march. They only complained when these images were shown over and over again in the media on TV and on the internet.

It seems as if Beck may be marginalizing himself in a way that will, if we're all really lucky, make him permanently toxic to those who take politics seriously.

Anyway visiting Glenn's website is like going through the Looking Glass-to the America where the only racists are African-Americans where the poor no longer exist where America went to war in Iraq found stockpiles of WMDs and Americans were greeted with bouquets of flowers and the US soldiers and contractors acted with civility and no Iraqi was abused, murdered, raped or tortured by US personnel and the Mission Was accomplished in 90 days - and Haliburton and other contractors didn't cheat the government and finished all their jobs on time and the US soldiers spent the next six years directing traffic and handing out food and blankets. Now Iraqis dance in the streets thanking America for their freedom and for allowing them to take ownership and control of their own natural resources to benefit the people of Ira and not just an elite and a bunch foreign international oil companies.

On Glenn Beck's Website Glenn Beck.com/ one of the first things he does is to encourage people to buy Gold because the American dollar can not be trusted - he is basically a shill for some corporation that sells gold and possibly he has invested heavily into this company. So the more people buy the wealthier Beck becomes - and the dozen or more videos on his sight has the same ad at the beginning of the video clip-so go figure- does this give us an insight into what Beck is really all about-as he says you decide???

Talks about Obama's program to develop a national army of volunteers or an actual domestic civilian army loyal to Obama not the nation or the American people. Claims Obama is basically a "brand" a product being sold to the American people.. Beck argues that Obama is extremely arrogant and sees himself as some sort of savior for America. The irony here is that Beck sets himself up as the only voice which can be trusted in opposition to Obama and so Beck portrays himself as America's savior-"The Drummer Boy" ala Hitler.

When Beck talks about FDR, Teddy Roosevelt and Obama and even Tiger Woods as the most dangerous people in history and yet puts Hitler, Pol Pot Stalin below them this is incredible nonsense. Surely Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Franco, Mussolini rank much higher than FDR, or Teddy Roosevelt or Obama or Tiger Woods. Why in the world would Tiger Woods be mentioned what great evil thing did he do kill off a million people did he ruin the game of golf for Glenn Beck- is it just because he's black -
And yet in the Time's article Beck is given the benefit of the doubt as if he were a sincere caring patriotic American who grieves for the average American as Beck himself manages to get by on a measly 23 million a year.

As Simon Maloy exclaims Glenn Beck is rather twisted and his commentary is often downright absurd and nonsensical

Glenn "Beck's Twisted Brain: Pol Pot Less Reprehensible Than Woodrow Wilson, Tiger Woods, and FDR" by Simon Maloy, Media Matters for America September 23, 2009.This is getting absurd. via Alternet.org

...Knowing who Glenn Beck is, and the type of discourse he engages in, it would be the height of foolishness to expect a reasoned discussion of U.S. history within the pages of Arguing with Idiots. But this is getting absurd.

In his chapter titled, "U.S. Presidents: A Steady Progression of Progressives," Beck treats us to his list of the "Top Ten Bastards of All Time." The occupants of that list, in ascending order, are Pol Pot, Robert Mugabe, Teddy Roosevelt, Bernie Madoff, Adolf Hitler, Keith Olbermann, Pontius Pilate, FDR, Tiger Woods, and Woodrow Wilson. That's right, in Beck's book, mass slaughter of millions of innocents makes you a less reprehensible person than the presidents who won both World Wars for the United States.

Glenn Beck is featured in a cover story in Time Magazine. If you expected a full in depth no holds barred expose forget about it. The writer of the piece is in part overawed by Beck's success . He sees Beck as a voice of the people channeling their anger and frustration over a government and a society which has left them disenfranchised and on the outside as history passes them by.The author David Von Drehel is unwilling or unable to see the darkside of the influence which Beck's rants , ravings and conspiracy theories might have.

Lest we forget Beck did manage to stir up the crowds for the Town Hall meetings and to get some 75 thousand people to march on Washington for his 9/12 Project/Tea party. The author plays down or is even dismissive of Glenn Beck's nightly rants in which he expresses his anti-government and anti-Obama views combined with his fear-mongering and Hate Speech . Glenn Beck is not some impartial non-partisan voice crying out for truth and justice and fairness for all Americans but rather he is the voice of what he refers to as "The Real Americans". This translates into one form of racism or other which is sometimes subtle; sometimes blatant racism as in hatred of Illegal-Immigrants whom he sees as an invasion force who bring disease, immorality, crime, drugs, rape , theft and murder etc. to the US while they take advantage of America's good will as in welfare, healthcare etc. Then Beck goes on his tirades expressing his own -or that of his audience's- homophobia, Islamophobia, anti-feminist anti-pluralism and anti- multiculturalism and anti-intellectualism. Over and over he raves about the evils of the United Nations and suspects there is a group of elites working in the shadows to create a one world government known as the New World Order.

The author does not bother to discuss Beck's own distorted views on American history and his misrepresentation of the Founding Fathers or the US Constitution , the Bill of rights, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutional amendments or his attacks on the Supreme Court's decisions which he believes goes far beyond their mandate. As I have mentioned numerous times ad nauseum that Glenn Beck and other ultrarightwingers believe that the individual states should have more power and the federal government less.

And Beck like others on the right claim things went wrong due to the decision on abortion in Roe V Wade 1973 but also Brown v Board of Education and other civil rights decisions and legislation which went beyond the scope of the federal courts or the federal government. So the Good-old days Beck would like America to return to could include racial segregation -Jim Crow and all or even lynchings and a time when women and blacks and Hispanics knew their place but much of this would not be a matter for the federal government but rather left up to each individual state the way it was I guess before the Civil War which changed or as he would say transformed America in a fundamental manner.

And secondly when Glenn Beck and other conservatives or libertarians talk about "States'Rights they are suggesting that if the U.S. federal government has gone beyond its legal and constitutional mandate that the states have therefore the right to disregard laws and statutes of the federal government which contravene these legal and constitutional limits. And if the federal government tries to impose such laws and statutes on the states have the right to take up arms and or to secede from the Union. Mad Man: Is Glenn Beck Bad for America? By David Von Drehle at time magazine, Sep. 17, 2009

...One person listens, Frankowski (a Beck supporter) believes, and that's why back home in Alabama she arranged to have 10 large signs made on white foam board, nine of them marked with a big letter and the tenth with we and a heart. Raised aloft, the signs spelled out "We ♥ G-l-e-n-n B-e-c-k."

Glenn Beck: the pudgy, buzz-cut, weeping phenomenon of radio, TV and books. Our hot summer of political combat is turning toward an autumn of showdowns over some of the biggest public-policy initiatives in decades. The creamy notions of postpartisan cooperation — poured abundantly over Obama's presidential campaign a year ago — have curdled into suspicion and feelings of helplessness. Trust is a toxic asset, sitting valueless on the national books. Good faith is trading at pennies on the dollar. The old American mind-set that Richard Hofstadter famously called "the paranoid style" — the sense that Masons or the railroads or the Pope or the guys in black helicopters are in league to destroy the country — is aflame again, fanned from both right and left."

And in a typical non-committal liberal mistaken notion of fairness and impartiality David Von Drehle characterizes liberals , progressives , Democrats, Republicans , Conservative etc. as all behaving in an hysterical manner which is glossing over the truth that the rhetoric and images, posters, and the acceptance of conspiracy theories is happening more on the tight than the middle or the left.

"Between the liberal fantasies about Brownshirts at town halls and the conservative concoctions of brainwashed children goose-stepping to school, you'd think the Palm in Washington had been replaced with a Munich beer hall.

No one has a better feeling for this mood, and no one exploits it as well, as Beck. He is the hottest thing in the political-rant racket, left or right. A gifted entrepreneur of angst in a white-hot market. A man with his ear uniquely tuned to the precise frequency at which anger, suspicion and the fear that no one's listening all converge...

...For conservatives, these are times of economic uncertainty and political weakness, and Beck has emerged as a virtuoso on the strings of their discontent.

...Beck describes his performances as "the fusion of entertainment and enlightenment" — and the entertainment comes first.

...As melodrama, it's thumping good stuff. But as politics, it's sort of a train wreck — at once powerful, spellbinding and uncontrolled. Like William Jennings Bryan whipping up populist Democrats over moneyed interests or the John Birch Society brooding over fluoride, Beck mines the timeless theme of the corrupt Them thwarting a virtuous Us...

And Glenn Beck has tapped into a cynical and defiant attitude which has been tracked by pollsters in which 72% of Americans are.. "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore." which is line used in the movie Paddy Chayefsky film Network by the madman Howard Beale.

"...Chayefsky imagines cynical television executives who create a ratings sensation out of the nightly rants and ravings of Beale. The host energizes the nation with his cry, "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" It's hard to find a film that better captures the rotten vibe of the early 1970s, when America found itself suffering through one downer after another: failing companies, tense foreign relations, high unemployment, rampant incivility, spiraling deficits, corruption in high places, a seemingly endless war. Sound familiar?

Beck often cites Beale as an inspiration and a tribune for our own times. "I think that's the way people feel," he told an interviewer. "That's the way I feel" — like the fist-shaking, hair-pulling Beale. Whether channeled by a playwright on the left or a talk-show host on the right, anger and distrust can be dramatized and monetized. But do they ever really go anywhere?

The trouble with this prophecy is that we never find out what happens to the people watching Beale. Do they stay mad forever? Does their screaming ever lead to something better? Does the rage merely migrate, sending new audiences with new enemies to scream from more windows? And if the time comes when every audience is screaming, who, in the end, is left to listen?

-------
The first thing after reading the article I wondered if the author ever sat down and watched a few choice hours of Glenn Beck or read the criticisms of him at MediaMatters or watched Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow doing an indepth analysis and fact checking of Glenn beck's show. Beck tosses out facts which may be rather questionable or just made up. He often recites studies done by Rightwing and Religious Right partisan groups who are promoters and propagandists for various causes.

The other fallacy is that of equivalency between Beck's rantings and the commentary by more serious thoughtful and fact based journalists who actually care about truth and personal and professional integrity. The writer for the Times is that sort of ivory tower intellectual who views the world and American society as just one big show and as an entertaining three ring circus for those like himself who believe they are above the fray and the squalor of the streets and so are shocked when fanatics do what they consider to be the unthinkable.

Beck to give him some credit is right about these over pampered members of the Ivy League schools who have no connection with the humdrum lives of the American people. He stands back watching the pratfalls of the buffoons and clowns who pretend to blow each other up but the problem is in the real world of flesh and blood the antagonists are using real bullets in real guns and it is not that funny to an Hispanic or Black American or someone who is gay is attacked and beaten up in some American neighborhood by Beck's True Believers who went out to hunt down these undesirables after watching Beck's or some other agitators program on tv.

The author claiming I assume journalistic impartiality never bothers to ask whether Beck's ravings, rantings and concocting conspiracy theories is helthy for the country by giving these angry people an outlet or at worst it leads to violence against the various groups which are targeted on Beck's show each night. The writer like a lot of misguided journalist have these notion that impartiality is a matter of principle. The problem is when someone is merely acting as a Professional, instigator, Agitator spreading race hatred of Hispanics, blacks and hatred of liberals, feminists and gays and environmentalist doesn't one have the responsibility to call it Hate Speech and incendiary .

Possibly because the writer is part of the media he is unable to see that words twisted into tantrums of hate can be dangerous or because he is such a political- junky that observing politics and even massive social unrest or upheavals is like watching a bit of theater or drama in which one is an=mused or shocked but ultimately detached from these events performed on a stage.. Comparing President Obama to Hitler, Stalin, Mao etc. is not a neutral position because these mad men were part of history and managed to kill millions. So the logic is that if we could have stopped Hitler what would we need to do. Therefore we should do the same in regards to President Obama before its too late and all the dissidents ie conservatives such as Beck and his faithful listeners are imprisoned in FEMA CAMPS.

also see article by Jamison Foser which first alerted me to the Time's article: "Time Magazine's Dishonest and Incompetent Profile on Glenn Beck Enables His Sick Lies" By Jamison Foser, Media Matters for America. September 19, 2009.

The profile whitewashes the shock jock's dishonesty and recycles his false claims. No wonder nobody trusts mainsteam media.

And further as Eric Boehlert reminds us that such overheated rhetoric , fear mongering, hate speech and talk of the illegitimacy of a president or that he is going too far and must be stopped or removed impeached or some more drastic and violent solution will be found as it happened in the case of President J.F. Kennedy . We should also not that such extremist rhetoric also led to the murders of Martin Luther King Jr. whom J. Edgar Hoover characterized as being the most dangerous man in America and hinted that King was working with the Soviets or the Chinese to destroy America from within. Much the same sort of nonsense was also preached about Bobby Kennedy who proclaimed that the Vietnam war was a disaster and that America must withdraw. One can be sure that there were not a few Americans who were glad these men were out of the way for instance those who profited off supplying weapons to America's Military Leviathan .

"A President Was Killed the Last Time Right-Wing Hatred Ran Wild Like This" by Eric Boehlert, at media matters, September 18,2009

That being John F. Kennedy, who was gunned down in Dallas, of course.
I've been thinking a lot of Kennedy and Dallas as I've watched the increasingly violent rhetorical attacks on Obama be unfurled. As Americans yank their kids of class in order to save them from being exposed to the President of the United States who only wanted to urge them to excel in the classroom. And as unvarnished hate and name-calling passed for health care 'debate' this summer.
The radical right, aided by a GOP Noise Machine that positively dwarfs what existed in 1963, has turned demonizing Obama--making him into a vile object of disgust--into a crusade. It's a demented national jihad, the likes of which this country has not seen in modern times.

But I've been thinking about Dallas in 1963 because I've been recalling the history and how that city stood as an outpost for the radical right, which never tried to hide its contempt for the New England Democrat.

Now, in this this month's Vanity Fair, Sam Kashner offers up in rich detail the hatred that ran wild in Dallas in 1963. To me, the similarity between Dallas in 1963 and today's unhinged Obama hate is downright chilling.

...Today, conservatives are expressing outrage that Rep. Nancy Pelosi had the nerve to raise concerns about the onrush of violent political rhetoric. The Noise Machine claims it has no idea what Pelosi's talking about. But the truth is, America's most famous bouts of political violence (i.e. JFK, Oklahoma City, etc.) have always been accompanied by waves of radical, right-wing rhetoric. Given that history, the GOP's insistence that the hate now filling the streets couldn't possibly inspire violence seems woefully naive.

Glenn Beck's Hate Project Channeling McCarthy Part 1

Note see part 2, next post.

Scott Wheeler peddles conspiracy theories and hate which Glenn Beck buys into and pushes on his TV program.

...Today, the term "McCarthyism" is synonymous with baseless malicious slander, unscrupulous fearmongering, vilifying the innocent, accusing them of disloyalty, and calling them terrorists, Islamofascists, illegal immigrants, and unpatriotic for supporting progressive change and ideas to the left of right wing views.

Nightly on Fox News, Glenn Beck delivers some of the worst of it to his estimated 2.3 million faithful and millions more on The Glenn Beck Program, a nationally syndicated talk-radio show aired by Premiere Radio Networks (a Clear Channel Communications subsidiary) throughout the country on over 300 stations, according to a Premiere Speakers Bureau promo about him stating that his program "is presently the third highest-rated national radio talk show among adults ages 25 - 54."

From article by Stephen Lendman: Glenn Beck's Demagoguery, Right Wing Extremism & Racism" by Stephen Lendman at Mostlywater.org on Sept. 16, 2009

First a few words from Glenn Beck's "Svengali Like Friend" Scott Wheeler

Beck's more recent attacks on Obama and his Czars is linked to Scott Wheeler who has recently published a book on Obama

Here’s a video clip of Scott Wheeler speaking at – Guess What? a Tea Party! in Philadelphia this past April. Just so you can get the measure of the man . . .

Glenn Beck: 9/12 March "Between 2 Million Or Tens Of Thousands"
FOX's Delusional Glenn Beck: 9/12 March "Between 2 Million Or Tens Of Thousands" Of People - 09/14/09

GLENN BECK the man behind the 9/12 Tea party project & McCarthyism Reborn
Not surprising since Uber Conservatives such as Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Hannity , Dobbs , O'Reilly see McCarthy as an unfairly maligned "True American Hero".
Czar Mark LLoyd Makes The Evening News - Glenn Beck's Newest Casualty

Anyway it appears Glenn Beck and others are to a great extent running the show in Washington. President Obama and the Democrats who still don't realize they won the election last year seem to be scurrying about afraid of any criticism by most noble of all The Republicans and the Media which is in the tank for the Republicans who are willing to air or publish the most outrageous attacks on Obama or members of his administration.

During the Bush years the Media seemed to be in a love-fest with President Bush and Darth Vader himself the lord of darkness Dick Cheney they hung on every word. In part it was because America's security had been shattered by 9/11. And Americans in their simplistic view of the world saw just bad guys versus good guys and there was no room for those who hesitated about taking action. Bush and Cheney were the New Law Men or Sheriffs or Texas Rangers sent in to defeat the bad guys. So any criticism of Bush or Cheney and their administration was seen as disloyalty, treasonous and giving comfort and aid to the Enemy.

Now that Bush is gone many Americans and the media are looking for another hero to replace him. Many have done so by putting their trust in Obama. For whatever reason ideology or growing mistrust of government or racism there are those who fear Obama or see him as too weak or as just another slick politician and so turn to others to follow and to canonize. And so enters Rush Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Coulter , Malkin but it is in the end that they turn to Glenn Beck or as Keith Olbermann refers to him as "The Beck"

The irony is that to these Folks Former President Bush was a hero , a man's man, an average Joe who was not well educated and therefore one of the Folk. But Bush was far from sincere he lied over and over again and cared only for self-promotion and promoting the Neo-Conservative /Dick Cheney agenda. He also managed to ruin the American economy while racking up record setting debts and pursuing two terribly mismanaged unnecessary wars.

So a large sector of Americans no longer trusted not just Bush but the Republican party and turned to the Democrats. Others having been lied to became skeptical of both parties and all politicians. So enter Glenn Beck who appeals to those who feel abandoned , disenfranchised who see the America they knew slipping away and America's power and ability to win a war fading away. They wonder if the mess in America was the result of the greedy Wall Street bankers or those liberals and secular humanist who want to transform America into a very different country and society.

Faced with a changing society combined with the near collapse of the American economy followed by government bailouts of corporations and Wall Street investors while average Americans are losing their homes ,their jobs their health insurance etc. While America is involved in two wars whose outcomes are uncertain. This becomes the fertile ground for the Professional Agitator the demagogue the one who acts the part of "The Drummer" who sounds the alarm and proposes solutions. But first he must be able to diagnose the disease afflicting the nation and the Body Politic. The Demagogue seeks followers and power in one form or another though not necessarily political unless the Folk insist on him taking political power though he appears reluctant to do so. Glenn Beck argues the reasons things haven't gone well is because of a hidden elite who are pursuing their own agenda. It is the liberals, Gays , feminists, the intellectual elite and illegal-immigrants and those immigrants who refuse to completely assimilate to America's values and Christian culture etc. who are destroying the social fabric of the nation.

At the moment that Folk Hero is Glenn Beck who did mange to create the 9/12 Project and follow though on it with the March on Washington -no matter the number of participants 70,000 or 2,000,000 in the end it is whether or not the March was successful on a more symbolic level and if it fulfilled some inner psychological need of the participants and those who are supporters or have some sympathy for the goals of this movement .

The Folk admire and trust Glenn Beck while they characterize Obama as a slick all talk no action politician or worse a politician with a "hidden Agenda". Glenn Beck is seen as being authentic as he shows real concern for America. He gets emotional just like anyone else. He gets angry;he gets solemn; he appears sad or anxious; he cries real tears; he gets pissed off; he expresses his feelings of helplessness and reaches out to his audience in what appears to be a time of a great crisis a crossroads for America; it is now or never ; he says he loves his country and fears it may already be too late. He points to America's external enemies the Islamic Extremist : the Jihadist but then as if his audience is sharing his journey he awakens to the fact that there are even more dangerous enemies of traditional Christian America : that is "the Enemy Within" and so he channels Sen. Joseph McCarthy or Father Coughlin or the anti-semitic Henry Ford or the fanatical John Birchers , Barry Goldwater and George Wallace , Jesse Helms etc.

And who is this "enemy within" it is chameleon like changing all the time though its goals are always the same though the means may change or be adapted. The"Enemy Within" according to Glenn Beck are the liberals, socialists, communists, fascists, collectivists, pacifists, those agents working to create the New World Order. Glenn Beck works his way through one conspiracy theory after the other : is he seeking the one which will most resonate with his audience?. He talks about Obama setting up Fema Camps where those dissidents will be kept after being rounded up by Obama's private army which is only loyal to Obama. He talks about hte evil liberals, the Gay agenda the feminist , the artist and intellectuals who have a deep seated hatred for traditional America. and all those he believes have distorted and twisted the words of the Founding Fathers.

The founding Fathers he argues were all good Christians who set up a Christian Nation which was blessed by God and therefore due to Divine Providence its people and its laws were a reflection of God's Law and superior to the laws or systems of governments of all other nations. Glenn Beck offers these Folk some hope that if they are willing to engage in a full-fledged struggle against the "Enemy Without" and the "Enemy Within" they can recreate America and restore it to its rightful place among nations while making it a true Christian Nation of "Real Americans".

Anyway as for Obama hoping that Americans could develop some empathy for others well good luck with that.

Glenn Beck claiming to be the voice of the average American in the clip below says he is sick of all the whining by the Katrina Victims and 9/11 families whom he believes were just basking in their victim-hood???

Of course Beck and others on the right who were and still are in love with George Bush ,Dick Cheney and the gang don't like any criticism then or now of the Bush Regime. He doesn't want to deal with the fact that Bush et al used 9/11 to further their own agenda to go on a deregulation spree and to enter into an unnecessary war in Iraq .

The Bush Cheney Regime and its supporters used 9/11 families and the The Twin Towers sites for photo ops and then just moved on. They denied the health risk to first responders or to New Yorkers while dragging their feet on erecting a suitable memorial or rebuilding the Towers. Katrina was another obvious failure of the Bush Regime to respond effectively and in a timely fashion to a crisis. Its bureaucracy and contracting out ideology was a grand failure. But to Beck each time the subject arises he gets angry because it might make him rethink his belief or undermine his faith in Bush and that even those"scumbags" in New Orleans are American citizens as he is.

The other bit of irony is that Glenn Beck has not stopped complaining and whining since the election of Obama.
Does Glenn Beck represent the typical American Christian???
Glenn Beck Hates 9/11 Victims Families and Calls Katrina Victims, SCUMBAGS!

GLENN BECK is now using the air waves as if he were channeling the infamous self-aggrandizing bully, blowhard and liar Joseph McCarthy reborn.

Blood in the Water: Hannity & Beck Go After More Obama Officials
The young Turks

And Stephen Lendman in his article discusses Beck's extremism which is in the case of immigration really just racism and nativism and xenophobia.

Glenn Beck's Demagoguery, Right Wing Extremism & Racism"
by Stephen Lendman at Mostlywater.org on Sept. 16, 2009

...At a time of 24-hour news and a proliferation of television and radio talk shows featuring hatemongers and demagogues like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck may stand out as the most unhinged and extremist of all as evidenced by his jihad against anyone to the left of his views, disadvantaged minorities, Muslims, Latino immigrants, and progressive change in some of his most outlandish comments, including:

-- calling Barack Obama a "racist (who) has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture; I don't know what it is....This guy is, I believe, a racist;"

-- calling Van Jones "an avowed, radical, revolutionary communist," then saying "Jones is the tip of the iceberg" as part of his over-the-top campaign against anyone less extremist than himself;

-- stating "The most used phrase in my administration if I were to be President would be 'What the hell do you mean we're out of missiles;' "

-- saying "We need to be the first ones in the recruitment office lining up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head....In 10 years, Muslims and Arabs will be looking through a razor wire fence at the West;"

-- telling Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison to "prove to me that you are not working with our enemies;"

-- advocating disposing of Guantanamo detainees by shooting them in the head;

-- accusing Al Gore of creating a new "Hitler youth" by promoting environmental awareness, and called for kicking California out of the union;

-- in 2003, telling listeners he was praying for a gruesome death for Democrat presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, and in 2005 saying he fantasized about strangling filmmaker Michael Moore;

-- characterizing Obama's new regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, as a crazed animal rights activist who believes that rats matter more than people;
...Joe McCarthy's Earlier Jihad Against the Left

In the 1950s, Joe McCarthy's witch-hunts against alleged communists, those on the left, and Democrat administration and other "subversives" included Secretary of State Dean Acheson whom he called "a pompous diplomat in striped pants," General George Marshall when he was Secretary of State for being "soft on communism" and being "a man steeped in falsehood," and many others on his so-called "blacklist."

In 1950, with no proof, he said he had a list of 205 known communists in the State Department, later reduced the number to 57, but said they were passing secret information to the Soviets. He claimed:

"The reason why we find ourselves in a position of impotency is not because the enemy has sent men to invade our shores, but rather because of the traitorous actions of those who had all the benefits that the wealthiest nation on earth has had to offer - the finest homes, the finest college educations, and the finest jobs in Government (and the private sector) we can give."

He characterized enemies as "card-carrying communists." Others as "loyalty risks" or being "soft on communism." For political gain, he vilified patriotic Americans, created years of hysteria, targeted anti-American books in libraries and got them removed...

"...To be fair, not everyone in the Republican Party was thrilled with the nauseating display of hatred and unabashed racism in DC this weekend. Several of the GOP's leading lights have raised deep concerns about the party being overtaken by these insane idiots. "Such insiders point to theories running rampant on the Internet," reported The Los Angeles Times on Monday, "such as the idea that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and is thus ineligible to be president, or that he is a communist, or that his allies want to set up Nazi-like detention camps for political opponents. Those theories, the insiders say, have stoked the GOP base and have created a "purist" climate in which a figure such as Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) is lionized for his 'You lie!' outburst last week when Obama addressed Congress. They are 'wild accusations and the paranoid delusions coming from the fever swamps,' said David Frum, a conservative author and speechwriter for President George W. Bush who is among the more vocal critics of the party base and of the conservative talk show hosts helping to fan the unrest. 'Like all conservatives, I am concerned about this administration's accumulation of economic power,' Frum said. 'Still, you have to be aware that there's a line where legitimate concerns begin to collapse into paranoid fantasy.'"

Frum was being nice, actually, because he knows better than anyone what took place in Washington this weekend. It was a Klan rally minus the bedsheets and torches. These people don't even have enough shame to hide their faces anymore. If more Republicans like Frum don't come forward to denounce such activities from their right flank, that right flank is going to finish the job of taking over the GOP, and hard as it is to believe, this kind of obnoxious craziness is going to seem quaint by comparison to what will be coming next..."

and check out article by Ed Kilgore: "David Brooks and Anti-Anti-Racism at The New Republic" The Plank, September 18, 2009

His main contention is that the Tea Party movement reflects an authentic all-American populist tradition dating back to Jefferson that is "ill mannered, conspiratorial and over the top — since these movements always are, whether they were led by Huey Long, Father Coughlin or anybody else." So it's "not race," says Brooks. "It's another type of conflict, equally deep and old," and it's mainly about Obama's "elitism" and a "producerist" revolt against redistributionist policies. Nothing to see here, folks, it's just good old-fashioned American populism.

You'd think maybe his own reference to Father Coughlin as an example of right-wing populism would alert Brooks to the folly of his argument. Was Coughlin solely motivated by anti-semitism? No, almost certainly not. Does that mean the anti-semitism he stimulated wasn't real and dangerous, leading eventually to his suppression by his own bishop? Absolutely not.

Lord have mercy, David, think about it: the Ku Klux Klan wasn't just "about race;" it was about hostility to immigrants and to some extent to capitalism; early twentieth-century Kluxers, in alliance with William Jennings Bryan, thought of themselves as "progressives." That was rather cold comfort to the people they tormented and threatened.

Olbermann: Tea Party Madness and 9/12 DC Rally Created & Promoted By Fox News

First a word on The Birthers still hanging in there-facts have no meaning for these people- But what is interesting about this idiotic conspiracy theory is that Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Limbaugh etc. keep harping on it while issuing disclaimers that they have doubts about the Birthers claims and then go on to say why doesn't Obama produce what they consider a proper Birth Certificate- I guess with his photo and fingerprints and DNA sample attached along with those of his mysterious family . That crazy Englishman David Ike says Obama is one of the Lizard People who control the world odd Beck and Dobbs haven't offered up this Conspiracy Theory as well.

Irony Is Dead: Fox News Exec Urges Staffers To Be "Fair" And "Impartial"

More on 9/12 March & values Voter Summit:

9/12 DC Rally Manufactured by Faux News

Keith Olbermann exposes the manufactured Faux News event called the 9/12 rally which wasn't even attended by its primary cheerleader: World's Worst Glen Beckerhead. Also covered is the Values Voters rally and the valueless keynote speaker Billo-the Clown.

These Shock Jocks are only interested in ratings and bigger salaries from Rupert Murdoch and other UnAmerican super rich white men. note if they were more upfront that in fact they are partisan and believe in economic, social, and religious conservatism this wouldn't be as much of story as it is. It is their claims that they are real investigative journalist who will follow the facts and the truth where ever it may lead them that is troublesome and dangerous because of the influence they have on a segment of the American population who are angry and disturbed by the changes that have been taking place not just in the past year bu in the last forty years to the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, Anti-war movement, feminists etc. and 1970s Roe v Wade 1973. These rich white guys who act like philanthropists pour money into the media and into various Faux Grassroots organizations such as the "tea Party Movement ' or the 9/12 Project. But they are not true philanthropist since they are donating money to protect their own interests. They are only concerned about their own profits from their media empires and their investments in the health/medical industry or in Big Pharma, Big Coal, Big Oil. They will use any arguments they can no matter how false or illogical and make appeals to people patriotism, their values, their religious views , their prejudice and greed and bigotry whatever will get them more more followers. Glenn Beck is still fudging on the numbers and the tone of the 9/12 Projects march on Washington which was not Grassroots but rather manufactured by Glenn Beck ,Fox News and self-interested corporations who are concerned about their bottom line-ie profits before people , profits before quality of life for the average American.

Chris Wallace still whining about Obama snubbing Fox, yet calls White House "thinned skinned"

This whole silly season of Tea Party madness and the insanity at Town halls and the 9/12 Project were staged events from the get-go.The organizers including Glenn Beck keep trying to convince the media and the American public that all of these events were the result of grassroots populist uprising but they were not. Just as the Values Voter Summit was an overtly above board organized event which the organizers never tried to misrepresent so these other events were more covertly organized events. Like The Summit the Tea Party Town Hall mob scenes and the 9/12 Project March on Washington were not part of a populist grassroots bottom up uprising. Those who organized these Faux Populist events in order to get support fed the media and the nation with anti-Obama propaganda. They encouraged various right-wing conspiracy theories about Obama and in some cases they were the one's responsible for manufacturing and creating and promulgating these conspiracy theories. These included the Birthers the erroneous suggestion that Obama was not born in America and therefore not just an outsider but a usurper who had no legal right to become president. Then there was and still is the claim that Obama is a secret Muslim out to transform America into an Islamic state with strict Shira law and that Obama will lend America's military might to spread Islam around the world.

For others Obama is part of some socialist, fascist or elitist New World Order conspiracy. The NWO conspiracy has been around long before Obama became president . It can be traced back to the "cold war" in which the argument was that the Soviet Union was engaged in an ongoing struggle to make the whole world into a Communist state. But it can also be traced back to the establishment of the United Nations or the earlier League of Nations as the beginnings of the New World Order.

Anyway according to these conspiracy theories about Obama or those in power and the super-wealthy in the United States and the rich and powerful have positioned themselves around the globe in positions of authority and influence in order to create the New World Order.

As we have discussed before the New World Order and other such conspiracy theories are similar to the bogus and dangerous and deadly charges made against the Jews. Since being anti-semitic is not as acceptable in our society those who believe there is some nefarious conspiracy taking place behind the scenes have shifted the emphasis to other groups.Though sometimes some conspiracy theorists merely use certain code words such as International Bankers as code for Jews. Or notice when Fox News or various spokespersons talk in terms of the tentacles of the Bankers or the socialist or liberalism reaching out entangling the whole nation and or the whole world in this massive NWO Conspiracy.

There is a bit of Irony or what might be called "projection" on the part especially of the Religious Right since they have been for the last three or four decades preaching to their followers that they have to by stealth if necessary slowly but surely take control of every institution in America to then make America into a Christian Nation. Dr. Francis Schaeffer in the 1970s to the early 1980s preached about such a tactic and strategy for Christians to embed themselves in local, state, and national organizations to create a Christian nation. Since then religious leaders such as Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, John Hagee, Ralph Reed, Tony Perkins, Randall Terry , Gary Bauer and organizations such as Moral Majority Inc., the Heritage Foundation, The Chalcedon Foundation, Coalitiion On Revival (C.O.R.) groups such Real Women Inc. or Focus on The Family,or anti-abortion Pro-Life organizations such as Operation Rescue have continued with this ongoing struggle to make America into a Christian nation one PTA or School Board one state etc. at a time.

In the area of late term abortions since the murder of Dr. Tiller there is now only one doctor in the US who will perform this procedure as the Religious Right has shut down one such clinic after another or even shut them down by shooting doctors and staff at abortion clinics or blowing up the clinics themselves. Because of the power of the Religious Right and their Uberconservative fellow travelers in the media and elsewhere many of these incidents are under-reported or just ignored altogether.

For instance in a more recent example the highly acclaimed film "Creation" which is about the life of Charles Darwin though every other western country have agreed to show the film in theaters the distributors have been unable to get any of US film distributors to agree to show the film and they have blamed this on the fact that the United States is the only western nation which questions Darwin's theory of evolution. So at times they have more power than they are given credit for.

Anyway they talk about a one world currency or the devaluing of the American dollar and the use of the US Federal Reserve as steps along the way to the NWO. For instance Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck etc. talk about the non-existent attempts to create the North American Union whenever Mexico, Canada and the US make some form of trade or security agreement. Dobbs and others at times even claim that the reason the US government doesn't do anything about illegal-aliens supposedly flooding into America is that this too according to their convoluted logic is part of the New World Order. The True Believers see the creation of a World Court or international agreements such as The Geneva Conventions, or the Special Conventions on the Abuse and treatment of POWS or the Law of the Sea agreements or any United Nations organization as part of this ongoing plot. These conspiracy theorists claim this conspiracy began according to the anti-Semitic Protocols of The Elders of Zion several hundred years ago or others would say by or with the help of the Illuminati or The Masons or according to others by Karl Marx and Engles and Charles Darwin and Sigmund Freud or by the Anarchists or Communists.

So Alex Jones or David Ike or Lou Dobbs or Glenn Beck etc. are too savvy to blame the Jews and so they blame "liberals","Secular Humanists" ,some rich elite positioned around the globe who work in concert undermining freedom and democracy to further their own agenda and the pursuit of profits. The only group that I have come across that might fit this characterization is David Cole's Washington based The Family or The Fellowship which does include a number of prominent Americans and a number of world leaders . How dangerous they are is difficult to determine since much of what they do is done in an ad hoc almost haphazard manner. The Family may have had some disastrous effects on American foreign policies and a negative effect in various nations but this still does not mean that this is a well connected organized deliberate attempt to take over the world.

Rep Chris Smith at Values Voters Summit
America is in crisis-never has he been more concerned about the pro-abortion policies coming out of the Whitehouse- and he refers to these policies as the Culture of Death. Obama and Planned Planned Parenthood & other evil liberals are tricking the American people into accepting an increase in abortions. Obama he claims as Joe Wilson said that Obama has lied over and over agian to the American people. He calls the movement to stop abortion as the great civil rights movement of our time. He gets a loud applause.

Romney says not only is abortion wrong but so is sex education and birth control-only abstinence is good. Gays are evil, Planned Parenthood is Evil Obama is pro-abortion anti-life and is part of the "liberal"/ "secular humanist" "culture of death ". So according to Romney it is time for the Good People ie these Bible thumping holier than thou holy rollers and the big corporations to take the country back from the UPPITTY black guy in Washington. He erroneously claims govt funded health care would interfere with people's health care .

Mitt Romney on health care and Tea Parties-prolifenews

Racist Beck & friends yuk it up about racist & violent tone of 9/12 Project
The people attending the rally were egged on by Glenn Beck's steady downpour of hate propaganda aimed at Obama his supporters and all liberals and progressives. Beck over and over again has portrayed Obama as similar to Hitler and other dictators. He makes outrageous incendiary erroneous claims such as that Obama wants to silence all conservatives and outlaw Christianity .Beck claims Obama has instructed FEMA to set up a number of detention facilities to house and work to death all those evil dissidents in America including Glenn Beck of course. Beck has said as has his other fellow travelers that they fear the 3am knock on the door. Again is this too a matter of projection in which they would do this to liberals if they were in power. In fact this seemsto have been their disappointment with George Bush or even Ronald Reagan or Nixon that they didn't roundup all those Unpatriotic liberal peacenics and traitors and placed them in detention camps sent them into exile or just killed them all . So instead they live out this fantasy vicariously as Bush and the CIA and military abuse and torture thousands of Iraqis and military units go and wipe out a whole village just for kicks or in the name of Jesus and eventually kill over 700,000 Iraqis.

Beck has erroneously claimed Obama's health care would encourage more abortions, infanticide and euthanasia.

Meanwhile Beck insists that the majority of Americans do not want health care reform which is not supported by the facts. Of course if Beck, Hannity, Lou Dobbs, O'Reilly, Limbaugh , Savage, Chris Wallace etc. keep up their barrage of misinformation, lies, fear mongering propaganda eventually more Americans may become mindless followers of Beck ala Goebbels . No matter what they say or what their audience believes about them treating them as honest patriotic Americans in the end all these Media Rightwing Divas are interested in is ratings and bigger cheques from Rupert Murdoch and other UnAmerican super rich white men who are only concerned about their own profits from their media empires and their investments in the health/medical industry or in Big Pharma, Big Coal, Big Oil. They will use any arguments they can no matter how false or illogical and make appeals to people patriotism, their values, their religious views , their prejudice and greed and bigotry whatever will get them more more followers. Glenn Beck is still fugdging on the numbers and the tone of the 9/12 Projects march on Washington which was not Grassroots but rather manufactured by Glenn Beck ,Fox News and self-interested corporations who are concerned about their botton line-ie profits before people , profits before quality of life for the average American.

Values Voter Summit: Porno Makes You Gay! Obama As A Monkey? Death Panels And More

values voter summit 2009

"...We must absolutely set out to smash the lie of the new and novel concept of the separation of religion from the state which most people now hold and which Christians have just bought a bill of goods. This is new and this is novel. It has no relationship to the meaning of the First Amendment. The First Amendment was that the state would never interfere with religion...

...When the government negates the law of God, it abrogates its authority. God has given certain offices to restrain chaos in this fallen world, but it does not mean that these offices are autonomous, and when a government commands that which is contrary to the Law of God, it abrogates its authority.

Throughout the whole history of the Christian Church, at a certain point, it is not only the privilege but it is the duty of the Christian to disobey the government. Now that's what the founding fathers did when they founded this country. That's what the early Church did. That's what Peter said. You heard it from the Scripture: "Should we obey man?... rather than God?" That's what the early Christians did."
Quote from: A Christian Manifesto by Francis A. Schaeffer 1981

This off color anecdote from Roy Blunt is not so funny when the president is black.Did he think no one would notice or was he completely naive about any such connection- if not then it would still reflect something deeper going on in the story teller. So is he suggesting Obama is the monkey or like a monkey . Is he claiming Obama is the monkey because he's black or because Obama's father was from Kenya and therefore like the monkey a foreign unexpected and unwanted or uninvited element into the order of the Golf Course which stands as a symbol of order and civilization.

Is the anecdote racist or just a dud.Does it have as they say unintended consequences ie meanings and interpretations.

Is he suggesting Obama is performing his duties as president in a completely arbitrary and haphazard manner tossing ideas and such out hoping something will work. Another side to this anecdote is that it could be a sly attack on Darwinian Evolution being dismissive of monkeys and dismissing the idea that somehow humans are related to monkeys, or apes ??? see end-note ***

The Religious Right are not followers of Jesus but rather are believers in some form of Prosperity Gospel in which God's chosen few prosper materially, financially etc. while the not chosen are deprived of wealth or possibly even food or shelter as a punishment from their materialistic God of Fortune. So it is logical to conclude that they would not be in favor of substantively improving the health care system for all Americans unless there are more profits to be made by those in the health care & insurance industry . So Mike Huckabee will stand his ground against any sort of Universal Health Care or Public Option not as a matter of principle but rather as long as the industry donates enough money to his campaign funding or provides him and his family with a few all expense paid vacations or free health care for him and his family. One wonders if those on the other side of this debate were able to give Huckabee & others a larger financial incentive would they change sides . More than likely they would.

Mike Huckabee sees health care reform as just part of the ongoing attack on Christian values from Roe V Wade in 1973 to the present. Therefore he concludes real Americans who believe in God and the Bible are against abortion and what he and others on the right refer to as "the culture of death".

They believe that Roe V Wade was the beginning of government interference by which the government could then decree when life begins and when life is worthy of life and who's life is of value and who's is not. So the Religious Right sees the Obama health care reforms as just another way for government to intervene into the lives of citizens. They erroneously claim that the government would decide who would be your doctor ;what medical tests and procedures you would be eligible for; and whether or not someone could be encouraged to end their life in order to save the tax payers money or this might be decided upon by the government etc.

Mike Huckabee rips ObamaCare, the Sen. Baucus plan at the 2009 Values Voter Summit.

Tom Price erroneously suggests that America has one of if not the best healthcare systems in the world. This is far from the truth a couple of dozen countries have better health care. Some 40 million Americans are without health care does he care not really since he believes if there are problems with health care the government should provide insentment to the private health care industry to make those changes. But in the end he and his group of Uberconservatives believe in the end it should be left to the Free Market Place to fix these problems. But he forgets that most of the problems facing Americans who have health care insurance those problems are created by the industry in order to save money on healthcare so they can by hook or crook by the use of legalese and small print and a hundred different excemptions increase their profits on the backs of the sick and dying.

Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) speaks on health care at the Values Voter Summit. (September 18, 2009)

*** Endnote- On the Monkey story:

And one could raise the issue of colonialism involved in the anecdote. The idea or the historical propaganda and myth he seems to buy into is that India was just a big jungle with a few uncivilized inhabitants in 1900. He believes that only America and some parts of Europe were or could have been considered civilized. He like other American centered or Eurocentic thinkers avoid the fact that India already had a civilization (Harrapan) going back a couple of thousand years before his God the Nazarene walked the earth. Blunt and his audience are of course believers in American exceptionalism and that the nation of the United States was created due to divine providence and that their nation is part of their God's plan. They assume that the people of India except for a minority who are Christian are a bunch of Heathens who have been duped by Satan. Part of what the anecdote implies is that those poor Englishman who were Christian and civilized lived in India without much to do and building a golf course meant they were bringing something good and wholesome to India. The story teller is uninterested in historical facts or the immorality of the British invasion and occupation of India against the wishes of its people. Is this over analyzing.
