For weeks now I have been writing regular posts on the increasing intersection between the "mainstream" Religious Right and Dominionist prophetic intercessors like Lou Engle, Cindy Jacobs, Rick Joyner and others.

Every once in a while it is important to remind ourselves that the Religious Right doesn't want our nation's laws to reflect Biblical principles only on issues like abortion or gay marriage, but on all laws.
And though we tend to forget that from time to time, fortunately they are willing to remind us, which is what David Barton and Rick Green of Wallbuilders did today, laying out the case for complete economic deregulation on the grounds that that is what the Bible says that Christians should be free to do as they please, while laws and regulations should only be targeted at "the bad people."
As an added bonus, the guest on today's radio program was Rep. Randy Neugebauer, whom you may remember as the man who screamed "baby killer" at Rep. Bart Stupak during the health care debate, who slammed the idea of bailing out companies because they will never learn their lesson if we don't let them go out of business:

So the first point of law is you don't make laws to regulate the good people, you make laws to regulate the bad people. You want to restrain the bad, not restrain the good. So it says "we know the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, and homosexuals, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine."

[And, as an interesting side note, when Barton quotes from 1 Timothy, he seems to be reading from the New International Version, as that appears to be the only version that uses the word "properly" while the others use the word "lawfully." And the NIV version of that passage does not mention "homosexuals" .. but apparently Barton thought it important to add that.]

Canadian Police and Military imitate crowd control techniques used in Not So Democratic Honduras, Guatemala, Burma, South Korea, Israel, Sydney Australia etc.
Another major concern is that the United States & allies using so called Enhanced Interrogation Techniques which the UN, the Red Cross , Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders and others say is just a Euphemism for "Torture". So if Torture is permitted in some circumstances why not in others. In the US one jail or detentiona center after another have been increasingly using Torture techniques and other abuses of the rights of the accused and even of those convicted. We either stand for human rights even if it is not always convenient for those in authority. If these techniques are used on a suspect the case should be tossed out of court to send a message that these actions will not be tolerated. But since even President Obama has defended many of these abusive practices the message to police and military is Carte Blanche as long as one can justify it or at least not get caught. So the Toronto Police or the Montreal Police like those in Amerika or Briton or Australia have an attitude and a mindset that this next suspicious person they attempt to stop and question or arrest may be a terrorists or "Suicide Bomber". This does not lead to confrontations which in many cases can be ameliorated by communication and developing a repore with the suspected persons. This issue of police over-reation and going rogue or going ballistic on suspects should be addressed by all Municipal police & the RCMP etc. The other issue is the number of deaths caused by the supposedly Non-Life Threatening 50,000 volt Taser Guns which police all across Canada are too quick and eager to use. The other is this tactic of four or more police officers piling on a suspect - putting a knee to the throat of the suspect bending bodies into unnatural injury inducing positions. Another issue here is that if the incident had not been video taped by a Canadian citizen this case would have been ignored and the RCMP once again would get away with murder.Another question arises about the training of police officers in Canada ??? Is their training just to violently take people down without any concern for the suspect as they do in countries such as Burma, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Honduras, Gautemala or China.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association says it is considering a joint lawsuit against the Toronto police and other police forces responsible for the G20 mass arrests.
...Among them is Adam Suska, a 32-year-old supply teacher. After watching a Queen’s Park demonstration on Sunday, Suska was walking towards Bloor St. and Spadina Ave. when police officers stopped him and asked about his black t-shirt.
Following Saturday’s trail of destruction caused by protesters using Black Bloc tactics, there were multiple reports of summit police targeting people dressed in black.
Suska claims police called him a “piece of s---” and asked for identification, which he didn’t have. He was arrested for breaching the peace and taken to the Eastern Ave. temporary jail, where he was released without charge after eight hours.
Suska said the experience has shaken his faith in police and he now has trouble sleeping. He said he would definitely be open to a joint lawsuit or class-action suit.
“I felt just disgraced and so ashamed,” Suska said. “I shouldn’t have to feel like that just for walking down the street.”
Police Chief Bill Blair has tried to justify police officers’ actions during the summit, saying Black Bloc members infiltrated peaceful demonstrations or that protesters failed to disperse when asked.
CBC coverage has, throughout the G20, been unapologetically apologetic for the G20 policies that demonstrators traveled to Toronto to object to; unfailingly, it toes the official line, refusing to entertain the deeper contextual questions behind both the economic programs being debated, or why so many would travel so far at their own expense in an effort to make their objections known.
The police, or "security" strategy, is too barely mentioned, beyond the eye-popping billion dollar price tag, or what the precedent-setting, "temporary" abrogation of the constitution means for the notion of Canadian rights and freedoms.
Not included in the estimated billion dollar cost this summit is purportedly ringing up is the thousands of hours the CBC has and will continue to devote to covering it - or covering it up afterwards. Incidentally, a billion dollars is roughly the annual budget of CBC/Radio Canada.
Presumably, left off that billion dollar estimate too are the hundreds of false arrest and civil liberty violation court cases certain to flood through the Canadian judiciary system in the coming weeks, months, and years.

While the corporate and state presses remained largely supportive of the gross excess of both the financial and social costs of the summit before and during the G20, they have been quick to enjoin criticism now, charging from their bunkers to snipe the wounded. None are more wounded than Toronto's police chief, who the CBC exposed lying during a press conference about weapons seized from those attending demonstrations, both legal and less so.
Toronto PD called the press conference to reveal to the world why the billion dollars spent was necessary, displaying to the media a wide array of exotic weapons that would outfit nicely a Mad Max remake. There, police chief Bill Blair proudly displayed pistols, rifles, maces, mail armor, knives, gas masks, crossbows, and a chainsaw... Chainsaws!?
You may think you missed the television images of the black clad, masked horror wielding the whining chainsaw through the mass of horrified storm troopers; or been in the toilet when the chain-mail clad archer was firing crossbow bolts into fleeing crowds of terrified Torontonians during the "street riots." You missed them not; the chainsaws and crossbows were not actually taken from anyone at or near the G20. They were props added to the contraband arsenal, presumably for effect.
No crossbows, no chainsaws: Check.
So, the billion dollar question is: How much of what the Toronto police chief has to say is true (for the media it seems: Who cares; let's on to the next story)? But, as my favourite policeman used to say:
