In Britain, the BNP (British National Party) bars non-whites from membership(until recently) and advocates "voluntary resettlement" of "non-white immigrants."

A former BNP member, David Copeland, killed three people and injured over 100 others in a 1999 London bombing campaign against blacks, Muslims and gays. The party has distributed lists of people who are supposedly part of a Jewish conspiracy. BNP leader Nick Griffin is a former member of Britain's neo-Nazi National Front and a founder of the neofascist International Third Position.

Reminiscent of present day American Religious Right/ Evangelical Fundamentalists et al and the US (Ultra/Uber) Conservative Movement and their echo chamber at Fox News and a thousand "Talk Radio" programs across the US esp. in the North West and the South.

Enoch Powell had a negative Effect on Britain and British society from his racist incendiary "Rivers of Blood Speech" til his death in 2001. He was not a uniter like Winston Churchill but was divisive sowing the seeds of suspicion , fear and hatred of the "Other" those who were non-white immigrants even if they had become British citizens or had been residents for several generations. Powell wanted all these immigrants expelled from Great Britain.

This revival of racism is prevalent throughout Europe and the United States . Events in London in recent weeks have highlighted the growing collusion between American neoconservatives and the European far right in stirring up hatred of Muslims.

Richard Bartholomew has details of a meeting at the George Restaurant in east London in August attended by Jihad Watch’s Robert Spencer and Douglas Murray of the Centre for Social Cohesion at the invitation of the Christian Action Network. Also invited were the English Defence League, the group responsible for a number of recent violent anti-Muslim protests.

Robert Spencer (of Jihad Watch) says on his blog that he and Murray refused to meet with the EDL, and cites Adrian Morgan as a witness to this version of events. But the presence of Morgan, who did meet the EDL, is itself evidence of the emerging relationship between the neocons and the far-right.

Morgan is a contributing editor to Family Security Matters, which has been described as a front for the Center for Security Policy, a Washington think-tank run by the ultra-neoconservative Frank Gaffney.

He is also the author of Western Resistance, a defunct blog on which he laid out his view of the BNP:

I am slightly ambivalent about the British National Party, on account of its racist past. So lets see how radical is the BNP has it really shed its Neo-Nazi racist policies-not so much.

The BNP are always going on about British heritage, so let's take a look at THEIR heritage, specifically at the relationship between BNP beliefs and GERMAN Nationalism, as exemplified by no less than the BNP founder John Tyndall.

John Tyndall created the BNP and worked with the current BNP chairman Nick Griffin for 25 years. If anyone thinks BNP Nazism is really in the "past", then BNP deputy chairman Scott McLean was shown on TV giving Nazi salutes as recently as 2006...

This is a disturbing trend for those who believe in democracy, freedom of religion pluralism, diversity, tolerance, mutual respect and the protection of minorities from the tyranny of the majority or the loudest voices in the land. Democracy as simply the rule of the majority does not in itself offer protection for those communities which represent minorities . Democracy in this sense is a balancing act between the majority and the various minorities. Both must be willing to make some compromises without undermining the basic values of a tolerant society which is dedicated to the rule of law combined with common sense.

For example these respective Western nations ought to be seriously concerned over Human Rights and not just pay lip-service to such ideals. Therefore women's rights should be as important as the rights of men in these societies. So wherever or whatever part of the world an immigrant comes from whether India, Indonesia, Africa, Middle East or the Eastern Block they can not argue to have the right to limit the rights of women or others . Whether a family is from Croatia, the Ukraine or Indonesia are Muslim or Christian Orthodox Russian Orthodox or Jewish Orthodox or Hindu or Sikh the men of the family do not have the right to beat or abuse the women in their family or any other women.This is not simply a matter of Christians or Westerners vs Islam but rather a more liberal and enlightened view of Women's rights and the rights of Children and others versus conservative or traditional or cultural views of women and children as mere property to be treated in whatever fashion the owners of this form of chattel decide.

Violence against women and assault and rape are against the law in our societies and should be enforced. Unfortunately those in authority often even today have an ambivalent attitude when it comes to domestic violence and rape.

As Mike Phillips writes in the Guardian at the time of Enoch Powell's death (2001) of the negative effect Powell had on Britain and on individual non-white Brits who from the time of Powell's Rivers of Blood Speech to the present felt that there were many Brits who did not welcome them or see them as part of British society.

What was hardest to bear, and most alarming, was the pervasive sense that the politicians, the people who were meant to be in charge, seemed to be afraid of him and what he could do. In those days he cropped up in all sorts of places. Johnny Speight's bigoted Alf Garnett, on TV every week, offered him up in a domesticated package and gave him a renewed currency. He became a myth, a bogyman, in whose name blacks and Asians were to be harassed and assaulted for the next couple of decades.

In hindsight, I think it would be flattering Powell to say that he was entirely
responsible for the effect of his speeches, but it's true that by marrying his
version of nationalism to racist rage he gave British racism and racist violence in British streets its own peculiar shape for a time, and it bore his name, Powellism. He offered British politicians a model for racialist rhetoric which was to last for a long time - when, a decade later, Mrs Thatcher spoke of British civilisation being "swamped" the Powellite echoes were unmistakable, and successful.

Astonishingly there are those supposedly in the mainstream in Britain who are still defending Enoch Powell's racism some forty years later.

For instance Simon Heffer argues that Enoch Powell's concern and alarm over immigration policies were justified and he should be honored as a British hero who was trying to defend the traditional British identity from being undermined by massive immigration of non-Europeans . These immigrants from the third world nations are he believes not interested in adapting or integrating or assimilating into British society but rather want to preserve their own traditions and laws. Many of these immigrants in fact want British society to be radically changed by accepting and tolerating all of their traditions and laws.

NHS (National Health Service)-hating, Enoch Powell-admiring Tory MEP Daniel Hannan’s latest piece on the Telegraph website is headlined ‘Down with collective responsibility’. He means this as a plea for more “heterodoxy within political parties”, but it could equally do as a summary of his attitude to public service provision.

As for Powell, Hannan and his supporters protest that he applauded Powellite views not on race and immigration but on “national democracy”, an “independent country”, free markets and small government.

The British National Party (BNP) will not feel too lonely in the European Parliament. Similar parties with a strong nationalist message and opposition to immigration have been elected in the Netherlands, Hungary and Romania.

The leader of the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV), Geert Wilders, denies he is a racist, saying his problem is with Islam as an ideology, not the colour of people's skin. The leader of the BNP and new MEP, Nick Griffin, says his all-white party is no more racist that the National Black Police Association. Hungary's Jobbik says the real racists are the liberal establishment who do not put Hungarians first. They have attacked the Sunday Telegraph for its report on their party. It is time someone put this hotbed of liberal do-gooders in their place.

The attempt to join forces of the various racist and anti-immigrant and Nativist groups has been ongoing at least since the 1990s.

operating out of a small apartment in Falls Church, Va...a British expatriate named Mark Cotterill is doing what no fire-breathing leader on the American radical right has managed since World War II: He is uniting a significant number of American extremist factions, all in the name of raising funds for the neofascist British National Party (BNP).

Cotterill's group, the American Friends of the British National Party (AFBNP), has provided a meeting ground for hate groups as disparate as the neo-Nazi National Alliance and the more mainstream, neo-Confederate League of the South.

Featuring speeches by a stellar cast of foreign and domestic racist leaders, the AFBNP's frequent gatherings also have helped these groups to increasingly see eye to eye on issues as narrow as NATO's alleged injustices in the former Yugoslavia and as broad as the importance of "pan-Aryan" internationalism.

...Despite this radical history, Cotterill has been successful precisely because of his ability to build consensus. His networking in the United States began in 1993, when he visited neo-Nazi William Pierce at his National Alliance headquarters in West Virginia.

...In 1995, Cotterill moved to the United States. He was the U.S. distributor for the British far right publication Right Now! and corresponded with future BNP leader Nick Griffin. He developed a friendship with former Klansman David Duke.

And using the pseudonym Mark Cerr, Cotterill served as the youth organizer for the Council of Conservative Citizens until he resigned following the December 1998 exposure of his identity in a special edition of the Intelligence Report.

Victory in Cotterill's "white fight" may seem far away, but he has a plan. He wants to help build up the British National Party (BNP) from its relatively weak position into a major political force in the United Kingdom, along the lines of extreme-right parties like France's National Front or Austria's Freedom Party.

- Reject all asylum seekers who passed safe countries on their way to Britain.

Immigration is out of control. Britain’s population is now over 60 million and rising, solely due to immigration. Not only is Britain increasingly overcrowded, but the fact is that a country is the product of its people and if you change the people you inevitably change the nature of the country.

We want Britain to remain – or return to – the way it has traditionally been. We accept that Britain always will have ethnic minorities and have no problem with this as long as they remain minorities and do not change nor seek to change the fundamental culture and identity of the indigenous peoples of the British Isles.

Long Career in Bigotry

William Pierce, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has been active in the extremist movement since the 1960s. A Ph.D. in physics, he taught at Oregon State University from 1962 to 1965 and, during that time, briefly joined the John Birch Society, a hard-right political organization. He stopped teaching as his political views grew more radical and, in 1966, moved to Washington, D.C., where he began associating with George Lincoln Rockwell, the founder and leader of the American Nazi Party. Pierce claims that he was never a member of the ANP, but he met with Rockwell often and became the editor of the National Socialist World, a quarterly aimed at intellectuals and academics that was published by Rockwell's World Union of National Socialists.

After Rockwell's assassination in August 1967, Pierce became one of the principal leaders of the National Socialist White People's Party, the successor to the ANP. In 1970, Pierce left the NSWPP and joined the National Youth Alliance, a far-right political group (with neo-Nazi leanings) founded by Willis Carto in 1968 that attempted to recruit college students to "smash" liberal causes on campus. (Carto, head of the extreme-right Liberty Lobby, established the NYA after an earlier incarnation of the group, Youth for Wallace, failed to get Governor George Wallace elected as president in 1968.)

By 1971, Pierce and Carto were openly feuding. Carto accused Pierce of stealing the Liberty Lobby mailing list to send letters that vilified Carto's group. Ongoing disagreements between Carto and Pierce and their supporters caused the NYA to split into factions, and by 1974 Pierce's wing became known as the National Alliance. Since then, Pierce has run the group and edited its magazine National Vanguard (originally titled Attack!), as well as an internal newsletter, National Alliance Bulletin (formerly called Action). He also broadcasts the group's "American Dissident Voices" weekly radio address and controls other businesses associated with the NA: National Vanguard Books, Resistance Records and Cymophane Records.

Forming the Cosmotheist Church

In the early years of the National Alliance, Pierce held weekly meetings near Washington, D.C., in an effort to attract people to the organization. At the same time, Pierce was formulating a philosophy that became the basis of what he called "Cosmotheism," a racist religion that stresses the superiority of the white race and the unity of the white race with nature.

In 1985, Pierce relocated the National Alliance from Arlington, Virginia, to a 346-acre farm in Mill Point, West Virginia, which he bought for $95,000 in cash. He called his new compound the Cosmotheist Community Church. (There has been some speculation over the years that at least some of the money used for the purchase had come from the proceeds of bank and armored- car robberies committed by The Order, a white supremacist terrorist gang that included National Alliance members and whose aims were drawn from Pierce's novel, The Turner Diaries.) Pierce's formation of the church may have been a last-ditch effort on his part to avoid paying taxes; he had tried, years earlier, to acquire tax-exempt status for the National Alliance itself by claiming that the organization was educational. The Internal Revenue Service denied his application in 1978; he appealed, but an appellate court upheld the I.R.S. decision. As it happened, the Cosmotheist Church did receive federal, state and local tax-exempt status, although it lost its state exemptions in 1986 for all but 60 acres and those buildings being used exclusively for "religious purposes."

In Gainesville, Florida, a Christian pastor sent his ten-year old daughter to school with the slogan “Islam is of the Devil” printed in large red block type on the back of her t-shirt.

The same slogan had been posted on a homemade sign outside a nearby church. In South Carolina, the words “death to Muslims” were marked near an entrance to an Islamic Centre.

In September, the mayor of a small town in Tennessee sent an email to city employees and others urging them to protest at a US postage stamp that commemorated Islamic religious holidays. “To use this stamp would be a slap in the face to all those Americans who died at the hands of those who this stamp honors,” the message concluded. The mayor mistakenly claimed that the stamp, first issued in 2001, was ordered by President Barack Obama, another in a long line of incidents in which the president has been described as a “Muslim terrorist” or such like.

There are a number of objections which can be raised concerning Bostom's characterization of Islam as an inherently violent religion which engages in Jihad as Holy War to convert the world to Islam.

Even if we grant that Islam is a religion that has been involved in wars of aggression to convert other nations and to steal their wealth it is not the only religion which has done so. Christianity also has had a bloody history of war from the mass murder of Pagans and other non-Christians when Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire and all other religions were made criminal non-Christians were banished , incarcerated or fed to the lions a long with any who dared preach so-called heresies . Roman Christianity did not teach tolerance or diversity instead it aggressively pursued a policy of Christianizing the whole of the Roman Empire. The spreading of Christianity via the sword became fundamental to Roman Christianity and continued after the Reformation by Protestant sects as well.

The crusade were wars of aggression and were waged for various more mundane reasons that is to capture the rich lands inhabited by Arabs and Muslims. The Crusaders were no more merciful to their enemies than were the Muslims to their perceived enemies. The Crusaders engaged in a number of massacres of non-combatants in taking Jerusalem and other cities. The Christian Crusaders massacred not just Muslims but also Jews and those Christians who lived in Islamic controlled cities and territories.

Yes then we have the brutal so-called Reconquista of Muslim controlled Spain some 300 years after the Muslims had conquered the region. It did not matter to the Christian rulers or the Pope in Rome that after such a long period Christians and Jews had to a great extent made their peace with the Muslim rulers. Many of these Christians we are told had views and beliefs which in the eyes of the Catholic Church made them heretics besides the fact they did not rise up against their Muslim rulers. So these Christians were not necessarily to say the least enthusiastic about the invading hordes from Christian Spain since they feared for their lives and many were killed or sent into exile.

The Jewish people in the Muslim ruled territory may have had to live with various restrictions but they fared much better than most of the Jewish populations at that time in Christian controlled Europe. When the Reconquista was completed the Jews were told to convert to Christianity or they would be expelled from what was now Christian Spain's territory. Many Jews decided to convert the conversos but soon enough those in power in Spain and the Catholic Church feared these conversos were just pretending to be Christians and were secretly continuing their Jewish religious traditions so the Church established the Inquisition to purge the territory of false converts through the use of torture followed by some brutal form of execution.

But even today there are Christians who act as apologist for the Inquisition as if there were some way to justify it. So they will claim it only lasted a few years and was conducted without the full approval of the Popes or the Catholic Church which is historically inaccurate. So these defensive Christian and Jewish apologist either down play the extent of the Inquistion which then expanded throughout so called Christendom from Spain to Great Britain to the Balkans and Eastern Europe and lasted several hundred years in various forms.

The so called Spanish Inquisition began though as just another form of Christian anti-Semitism and was not an aberration it was in fact basic to Christian beliefs. As I have discussed before anti-Semitism was not some new innovation but went back at least to the time of the Early Church Fathers who blamed the Jews for the death of Jesus. Up until recently the Jewish peoples were collectively characterized as not just guilty of the death of Jesus but that all their descendants also were guilty of deicide and that the Jews were the spawn or children of Satan and so must be kept oppressed .
Even Martin Luther preached hatred of all Jews as did most Christian leaders including the Popes and the Vatican.It was mainly due to the rise of liberalism in Europe in the 18th and nineteenth century that European Jews were treated almost as equals to Christians though whenever anti-Semitic rumors took hold the Jews would be attacked wiped out or locked into the Ghettos which existed in most European cities.

Massacres, Pogroms and insecurity were the lot of the majority of the Jews of Europe.
The lives of Jews was severely restricted more so than they were in most Muslim territories.

Of course we shouldn't forget the crimes against humanity and other misdeeds carried out by Christians against the indigenous peoples of the Americas where millions of native peoples were slaughtered or sold into slavery and pushed off of their lands. Christians continued to expand their Empires into Africa , Asia, Australia , New Zealand , and India justifying killing millions by arguing that these indigenous populations were or are inferior and that those who were not slaughtered be forced to convert to Christianity. Still Christians have the audacity to claim theirs is a religion of peace, tolerance, mercy, love , compassion etc. This may be what the Nazarene Jesus preached but his followers were quick once they had taken power to use their religious beliefs to crush all other religions where possible. It is odd how some Christian historians will erroneously claim that the various Pagan or Non-Christian Religions within the Roman Empire for example just eventually died out . These apologists and revisionists who are hard at work these days rewriting history to fit their own idealized, romanticized views of the history of Christianity and its overarching Mythology.

And these Christian apologist are even rewriting current events to fit with their Christian myths. For instance the Illegal/immoral War of Aggression and invasion and occupation of Iraq is falsely characterized as necessary and that the murder of one million Iraqis was worth it . These Christians argue that Iraqis first of all are not Christians and are not of European extraction and are characterized as being barbaric and uncivilized and therefore the armies of the Christian invaders had no responsibility to treat the Iraqi citizens as equals.

Odd that Andrew Bostom and others such as Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch or Pam Geller of Atlas Shrugs or Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, Bill O'Reilly , Sean Hannity etc. who preach against Islam don't see the hypocrisy and contradictions in their attacks on Islam. For instance they claim that even Jesus would approve of bombing Iraqi civilians and torturing detainees and using the new Christian Mercenaries such as Blackwater to kill indiscriminately in the name of the Christian God. Whether or not President Bush and Co. wanted to attack Iraq as part of Christian crusade is a moot point as the Generals on the ground and the American troops and the Mercenaries have been treating the War on Terror as a Holy War from the beginning after 9/11. The American military itself as we have noted has been infiltrated and is under the control of fanatical Evangelical Fundamentalists who see this war as the countdown to Armageddon or just part of their duty as Christians to convert or kill all Non-Christians.

Andrew Bostom argues that Muslims should acknowledge their misdeeds and crimes and denounce violence against Non-Muslims and to denounce the more egregious parts of Sharia law. Muslims should stand up for human rights and to treat women as equals and be more tolerant of homosexuals etc.

Given Andrew Bostom's argument this should also apply to Christians . Therefore all these pious Christians should publicly acknowledge their misdeeds and massacres and Wars of Aggression and their Inquisitions , their witch hunts their killing of hundreds of thousands of so called heretics. They should also take upon themselves that their 2000 years of preaching anti-Semitism led inevitably to the Shoah in which some six million Jews were massacred because they were believed to have formed a FIFTH Column not just in Europe but throughout the world acting as the Invisible Hand interfering in human history for their own benefit. Odd though how such a powerful and cunning group of people managed to spend most of their history living in poverty and being oppressed by Christians.

I mentioned the notion of a Fifth Column of Jews because similar things that were said about the the Jews are now being promulgated against the Muslims. The current Islamophobes characterize all Muslims as potential Jihadists who are just waiting for their opportunity to take down the governments of all the nations in which they reside which are not yet Muslim controlled states.

AB: I agree with the thrust of what Dr. Raphael Israeli described in his seminal analysis of modern jihad terrorism published in 2003. He proposes the creation of an Alliance of Western and Democratic States (AWADS), consisting of a nucleus of the United States, Canada, Australia, and Western Europe (and these core nations can sponsor other countries proven to conform to its rules and standards, for example, India), with the following six avowed "rules of engagement":

Strict control of immigration from Muslim countries without reliance on the "efforts" of the countries of origin, who have shown neither the will nor the means to stop this massive flow, much of it already illegal. This policy should include interception and routine unceremonious repatriation of the illegal immigrants themselves, and expulsion from AWADS nations of those who assist them.

Reciprocal arrangements for controlled immigration, tourism and educational exchanges between Muslim countries and AWADS nations to guarantee equivalent, unimpeded bilateral flow ? Muslim nationals to AWADS, AWADS nationals to Muslim countries ? devoid of characteristic Muslim discriminatory regulations towards other races, faiths, or nationalities.

Rendering various forms of economic, technical/infrastructural, health, agricultural, and educational assistance by AWADS to Muslim countries contingent upon basic conditions met by the applicants, including: accountability; progress in human rights; meaningful efforts at population control; renunciation of force/violence in dealing with other nations/communities; and monitoring and controlling incitement to hatred and violence in mosques and media outlets.

Mosque construction, as well as the building of other Muslim institutions in AWADS nations, particularly projects funded by Saudi Arabia, will be contingent upon reciprocal arrangements to construct religious institutions for other faiths in Muslim nations, including each country situated on the Arabian peninsula, and the binding commitment by all parties ? AWADS and non-members of AWADS ? that no incitement or hatred will be propagated in any of these religious institutions.

PC: Given the resistance among Americans to anything that smacks of discrimination, what steps might we take to emasculate the doctrine of jihad?

AB: Fifteen years ago (September, 1990), Bat Ye?or made these prescient observations regarding what needed to be done by the Muslim leadership and clerical and intellectual elites to initiate an Islamic version of Vatican II, a sort of "Mecca-Cairo-Qom-Najaf One (I)" self-examination, mea culpa, and reform process:

This effort cannot succeed without a complete recasting of mentalities, the desacralization of the historic jihad and an unbiased examination of Islamic imperialism. Without such a process, the past will continue to poison the present and inhibit the establishment of harmonious relationships. When all is said and done, such self-criticism is hardly exceptional. Every scourge, such as religious fanaticism, the crusades, the inquisition, slavery, apartheid, colonialism, Nazism and, today, communism, are analyzed, examined, and exorcized in the West. Even Judaism ? harmless in comparison with the power of the Church and the Christian empires ? caught, in its turn, in the great modernization movement, has been forced to break away from some traditions. It is inconceivable that Islam, which began in Mecca and swept through three continents, should alone avoid a critical reflection on the mechanisms of its power and expansion. The task of assessing their history must be undertaken by the Muslims themselves . . . There is room to hope that the ending of the contentious dhimmi past will open the way to harmonization of the whole human family.

Sadly, a decade and one half later, most Muslim (and many Western) intellectuals continue to justify the concept of jihad as an inoffensive spiritual engagement with one's own evil instincts, or purely "defensive" combat for "justice," and dhimmitude is still completely denied, ignored or obfuscated. Therefore non-Muslims of all kinds who have been victimized and continue to be victimized by these heinous Muslim institutions must abandon their silence and be encouraged to describe this history openly in the hope that this process will elicit a sincere movement of acknowledgement, reform, and reconciliation within the world Muslim community.

Bostom's conclusion is that Islam is unrepentant and refuses to reform and therefore the United States and other non-Muslim countries in the West should basically declare economic war if not armed warfare against all Islamic nations which do not abide by Bostom's basic demands and principles.

Admittedly, we seem generations away from such an overall process now. Thus in the interim, those preaching the bigoted and murderous doctrines of jihad within the West should be deported. Moreover, we in the West must press our political and religious leaders to demand that such bellicose, hate-mongering "educational" practices be abolished in all Islamic nations, without exception, under threat of severe, broad ranging economic sanctions.

What if we pass a law to ban any hate speech in the Churches in Christian countries.So that Evangelical Christians could be censured for hate speech against Islam and other religions and hate speech against Homosexuals and feminists and liberals and against current governments.

It also should be noted that Bostom and others who preach their message of hate against Islam refuse or are deluded into believing that Christianity and Western Civilization has always been in favor of real justice and mutual respect and human rights etc. They forget it seems that women didn't get the vote til the 1920s, and still do not have complete equality as in the United States' refusal to pass the ERA: Equal Rights Amendment or that the rights of Black Americans and other minorities were not protected by law til the 1960s-America is still rife with sexism and racism and homophobia. So where is all this tolerance that these Christians talk about. If the Religious Right had their way only Christians would been permitted to run for public office or to perform certain jobs such as teaching and homosexuals could be discriminated against with impunity.

This conspiracy theory claims Obama is not loyal to America's traditions and values. This according to this view explains why President Obama has bent over backwards to show deference to Islamic leaders and to Islam itself. Jerome Corsi has promoted the "Birther" conspiracy as well claiming that Obama has been involved in a massive cover-up of the fact that he was not born in the United States but in Kenya and therefore not eligible to be president. Jerome Corsi also promotes the notion that President Obama is a "Globalist" in favor that is of a one world government and the creation of The New World Order. Corsi further argues that Obama is a Communist or socialist who has surrounded himself with those on the hard left who are out to radically change America into a "Socialist" nation thereby undermining America's traditions, values and sovereignty.

The fringe rantings of Jerome Corsi would not be taken seriously except for the fact that his "Fellow Travelers" in the media rather than ignoring or being skeptical about his outlandish "Conspiracy Theories" treat them as plausible and reasonable explanations based upon solid research. So we get the likes of the Usual Suspects lining up over and over again to do lengthy interviews with Corsi on television or radio thereby giving some credence to Corsi's bizarre theories. The Usual Suspects include Glenn beck, Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and even fringe wackos such as Alex Jones and various racist, nativist, & white Supremacist such as James Edwards at the far right talk radio show "The Political Cesspool" which is connected to the American Nazi organizations the National Alliance and Stormfront.

It wasn’t the first time in recent months that Corsi’s attempts to generate publicity have gone awry. In mid-August, just as Corsi was in the midst of a blitz of media appearances to promote his latest bestseller, The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality, Hatewatch revealed that Corsi had recently been a guest on the Political Cesspool, an overtly anti-Semitic and white supremacist radio show, and that he was scheduled to appear on the show again. (Corsi subsequently backed out of the second Cesspool appearance).

According to WorldNetDaily, a far-right website to which he’s a prolific contributor, Corsi had been invited to Kenya by Christian missionaries who are concerned about the spread of Islam in the East African country. One of the principal, and thoroughly discredited, tenets of Corsi’s newest book is that Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama, whose father is Kenyan, is secretly a Muslim. (Corsi is hardly a Republican operative; earlier this year he just as spuriously attacked GOP presidential candidate John McCain for supposedly accepting funding from a group with ties to Al Qaeda).

Corsi was in Kenya to investigate and “expose details of secret deep ties” between Obama and certain Muslim politicians in Kenya, according to WorldNetDaily. No doubt Corsi’s failure to obtain a work permit in Kenya, which led to his detention, according to the Associated Press, is the result of dark forces at work.

Right-wing propagandist Jerome Corsi backed out of his scheduled appearance on the white supremacist radio show, “The Political Cesspool,” last night only five minutes before he was supposed to go on, according to the show’s host James Edwards.

Just before 5 p.m. CST, Edwards came on the air following a commercial break to announce that Corsi had just E-mailed to cancel his scheduled hour-long interview due to “travel plans that changed.”

Edwards sounded skeptical of Corsi’s explanation, and with good reason. Last week Corsi was at the center of a media firestorm concerning the multitude of inaccuracies, distortions and outright lies in his new book The Obama Nation, as well his scheduled appearance on last night’s “Cesspool,” which was first reported by Hatewatch on Aug. 13.

That night, during his appearance on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” Corsi reiterated his past apologies for a series of bigoted and hateful blog posts he wrote in the years spanning 2001-2004.

But if Corsi was trying to salvage his reputation by not appearing on the “Cesspool” last night, he was probably too late. As Hatewatch also first reported last week, Corsi had previously appeared on the racist, anti-Semitic radio show on July 20. His interview was streamed live on the Internet by the white nationalist website Stormfront, which is run by a former Klan leader.

Yesterday’s edition of the “Cesspool” was a rough outing for Edwards. Not only did his marquee guest ditch him at the last minute, but also his warm-up act — United Kingdom Independence Party Chairman Nigel Farage, who didn’t answer the phone when Edwards called.

Edwards was reduced to dialing up emergency back-up interviewee Sam Dickson, a former Klan lawyer, who delivered a meandering soliloquy about Jewish control of American foreign policy for the bulk of the show.

Edwards sounded unusually defensive throughout his most recent broadcast, repeatedly taking issue with the previous week’s widespread characterizations of his show as racist and anti-Semitic. “We’re a mainstream voice for European-Americans,” he said. “We’re the show of record for the paleo-conservative right,” not a bunch of “knuckle-dragging Neanderthals.”

“We don’t malign any racial groups on this program,” he said. “We conduct ourselves as gentlemen.”

But on Aug. 14, the day after the Corsi furor began dragging his show into the harsh spotlight of mainstream media scrutiny for the first time, Edwards had this to say on the topic of models in the fashion industry: “As everyone knows, white women are by far the most beautiful women. And when it comes to looks, black women are at the bottom of the totem pole. It’s simply an undeniable fact.”

How gentlemanly.

DOUGLAS, Ariz. -- For months, Minuteman Project organizer Jim Gilchrist promised that his group would peacefully observe the Arizona border as a protest against illegal immigration. Volunteers — he said there would be 1,300 of them — would be carefully screened, with FBI help, to keep out white supremacists and racists and only permit holders would be allowed to carry concealed weapons.

As the month-long April project started, Gilchrist's promises proved empty. An FBI official denied that the agency was screening Gilchrist's or any other private group's members. Some 300 volunteers showed up — a thousand fewer than predicted. At least four-fifths of volunteers did carry weapons, and almost none were checked for permits. Racist talk abounded, and some neo-Nazis and other racists did join in Gilchrist's project.

That his book is rife with inaccuracies hasn’t stopped Corsi from promoting it on dozens of talk shows, where he has peddled additional falsehoods about Obama. On Fox News’ Hannity’s America, for instance, he made the ludicrous claim that Obama supports abortion “after a child’s born.”

Perhaps Corsi’s most telling appearance, however, has been on The Political Cesspool, an overtly racist, anti-Semitic radio show hosted by self-avowed white nationalist James Edwards. Corsi was interviewed on the Cesspool on July 20 and is scheduled to appear again this Sunday, August 17, joining a recent guest roster that has included Christian Identity pastor Pete Peters, Holocaust denier Mark Weber and former Klan boss David Duke.

Along with promoting Corsi’s appearances, Edwards is boasting on his website that the three-hour weekly show will join the Republic Broadcasting Network in September. This conspiracy-minded network, heard via satellite and the web, features talk about a sinister “New World Order” and wild theories about the causes of 9/11. Shows that air on the network include The Piper Report, named after host Michael Collins Piper, who has contributed to the holocaust denial magazine The Barnes Review, and Mark Dankof’s America, which has interviewed Weber, director of the Institute for Historical Review, a leading Holocaust denial group.

These characters on the right such as Jerome Corsi claim to be sincere in their views but it often appears that they are more interested in making large sums of money selling their product that is their views and their entertaining conspiracy theories as books and on the lecture circuit.So if wild imagined bizarre conspiracy theories and fear mongering sell better than the facts or a reasoned fact based discussion then to some of these charlatans that's what they will write and sell and give lectures on for the right price.

So are their intentions to honestly promote an ideology to better inform Americans of what's going on or is it just about the money and selling their product which may or may not have any relation to actual facts. Some of course are in fact right wing racist hate mongers whose mission is to sell books and improve ratings to fund their activities.

These are good times for Jerome Corsi. Already notorious for his factually challenged book-length takedown of 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, Unfit For Command, the 61-year-old Corsi has another hit on his hands. His new book, Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality has made Corsi a hot commodity again on the right-wing radio circuit, the bane of the Obama campaign and catapulted to the top slot on the New York Times bestseller list. With his newfound notoriety, Corsi has brought his pathographic anti-Obama narrative to hundreds of thousands of readers -- and millions on radio and TV -- just as he did with Kerry. Corsi has become the court bard of the conservative movement. "The goal is to defeat Obama," Corsi told the New York Times. "I don't want Obama to be in office."


Corsi had dabbled off-and-on the fringes of conservative backlash politics for nearly three decades. In his spare time, which he appeared to have lots of, Corsi busied himself at his computer, firing off opinions on the far-right website Free Republic, marked by their sexual and racial obsessions.

In a comment typical of the dozens he posted under the handle "jrlc," Corsi wrote, "Anybody ask why HELLary couldn't keep BJ Bill satisfied? Not lesbo or anything, is she?" In another, he ranted, "Isn't the Democratic Party the official SODOMIZER PROTECTION ASSOCIATION of AMERICA -- oh, I forgot, it was just an accident that Clintoon's [sic] first act in office was to promote 'gays in the military.' RAGHEADS are Boy-Bumpers as clearly as they are Women-Haters -- it all goes together."

Then he composed Unfit For Command, suddenly vaulting into best-sellerdom. Surrounded by the media buzz of talk radio and Fox News, Corsi no longer plied the seamy troll-zones of the right-wing blogosphere. Overnight, he had become a conservative folk hero. But as Bush's popularity waned during his second term, Corsi's star dimmed. He tried to reignite it by co-authoring a book with "prophecy expert" Michael Evans, Showdown with Nuclear Iran, calling on the United States and Israel to attack Iran "before it's too late," and another, Black Gold Stranglehold, claiming to expose the Big Lie that will "enslave" Americans: "the belief that oil is a fossil fuel and a finite resource." Corsi's conspiracy theories consolidated his cult status, but he did not revive the brightness of his Swiftboating campaign. As another presidential election approached, however, Corsi followed his well-trod path back to renown.

In early 2007, Corsi huddled with an old friend, Howard Phillips, a veteran conservative operative who had attempted to organize the anti-government militia movement into a cohesive political bloc during the 1990s. Corsi emerged from their discussion convinced of his destiny. He would declare his campaign for the presidential nomination of the ultra-right Constitution Party, enthusiastically embrace the party's call for a complete halt on immigration, banning abortion even in cases of rape and incest, and upholding its official platform that the "U.S. Constitution established a Republic under God, rather than a democracy." With this momentous announcement, Corsi hoped to cast himself as the last, best hope to save America from the godless, globalist duocracy conspiring to merge the United States, Mexico and Canada into a "North American Union." (His latest flop, published in 2007, was a screed entitled, The Late Great USA: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada.)

Given his fact-challenged theories Jerome Corsi is still a favorite of the Conservative Movement and Talk Radio & of course Fox News even though much of what Jerome Corsi has written has been examined and debunked. His writings provide a wealth of evidence that his facts and arguments do not stand up to scrutiny and do not pass muster as scholarly works which he claims them to be. Whether he is writing about individual political figures such as Obama and John Kerry or writing about the nefarious conspiracy theories which are backed by some mysterious powerful elite such as the North American Union, or about illegal-immigration Jerome Corsi has little interest in any fact which might contradict his elaborate paranoid world view.


The online conservative magazine WorldNetDaily is a conservative equivalent to Tabloid journalism in which various unsubstantiated Conspiracy Theories are presented as facts and taken seriously from the Birthers to Obama is a secret Muslim to the North American Union, or Fema Camps or that the H1N1 inoculations are part of some conspiracy to keep Americans in fear or to kill off a number of citizens or preparation for setting up for mass incarcerations etc.

Conservative Jon Henke views World Net Daily as undermining serious conservative issues and policies . He further sees it as undercutting the intellectual basis of Conservative ideology as it is turned over to the wing-nuts and fear merchants. But it appears few Republicans are willing to publicly defend his view .

Jon Henke seems to be a lone voice against the Republican Party and the Conservative Movement being taken over by the extremist and the wing-nuts while others take comfort in the increase of volume and invective of the base.

Rather than being represented by cooler heads as it were the Conservative Movement is drifting more and more towards the unhinged fringe thereby welcoming them into the mainstream of the Conservative Movement and the Republican Party. So once an individual or group is discredited by the media etc. rather than Conservatives publicly distancing themselves from these groups instead they appear to become more strident in their defense of discredited individuals or ideas such as conspiracy theories. We have seen this in the case of Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck etc. who have given some credibility to the "Birthers" or The New World Order or Obama as a NAZI or socialist or Muslim with a secret agenda to destroy America.

WorldNetDaily is for some strange reason one of the most popular right-wing sites and is frequently sited by Conservative pundits and their underlings. It has given space to a range of strange conspiracy theories and “discredited” ideas such as,

‘9/11 was caused by the immorality of America, promoting the cause of radical Israeli settlers, KGB defector Alexo Litvinenko was a terrorist, Anglo-Saxon identity and White only immigration, Barack Obama is a secret Muslim and not really an American (the Birther hullabaloo), and on and on.

Jerome Corsi, is a staff writer for WND and his inclusion on the site and its popularity is quite mind boggling. You might remember him for his infamous book Unfit for Command which attacked John Kerry during the 2004 presidential campaign. It rode a wave of popularity and was credited as contributing to sabotaging (or better yet swift-boating) Kerry’s election.

His inclusion on the site begs the question are people this naive, ignorant or just plain hateful? Any veneer of credibility that WND and these other internet “news” sites such as the NRO are shattered when they hire and have as members and contributors people like Jerome Corsi. Media Matters, the news watch dog group has done a detailed examination of these sites and their propagation of morbid hate speech.

Amongst other things Corsi is on the record stating,

This is just a sampling of a wider oeuvre from Corsi that goes back decades and includes many strange ideas and theories, including that: John McCain was associating with groups linked to Al-Qaeda, 9/11 Truther’s, Birther’s, etc.

In an interesting aside, that queen of plagiarism accusations and the harbinger of the internecine Civil Blog Wars, Debbie Schlussel has accused Corsi of plagiarism. Is there any end to the destructiveness of the loons, motivated by different agendas, some that over lap (such as money) — they are always ready to throw one another under the bus.
