Above image from the disturbing film “ JESUS CAMP ” about radical Evangelical Fundamentalists . It is a must see for anyone concerned with how the Evangelical movement in the United States has become more & more politicized who see the Republican Party & George W. Bush as God’s representative whom , they believe, will save America & return it to its Biblical & God Fearing roots which the original settlers The Puritans intended .

At one point in the film they bring out a cardboard effigy of President Bush & the children are encouraged to thank God for making him president & the children touch the effigy as if it were that of a saint or Jesus Himself .

Meanwhile the children ranging from four years old to twelve pledge they will become warriors for Christ & will do whatever is necessary to save America & the world even it means martyrdom for them . Otherwise they are encouraged to become social & political activists so that they will take up positions of power at all levels of government from local to state & federal so that their Biblical view on various social & political issues can become the Law of the Land .
Again we see their notion of God is not anything like that of Jesus & the Sermon on the Mount but rather a cruel, intolerant & vengeful God .

The summer camp featured in the documentary "Jesus Camp," which includes scenes with disgraced preacher Ted Haggard, will shut down for at least several years because of negative reaction sparked by the film, according to the camp's director.

"Right now we're just not a safe ministry," Becky Fischer, the fiery Pentecostal pastor featured in "Jesus Camp," said Tuesday.

Lord Have Mercy
By Jeffrey M. Anderson

Here is part IV of my collection of verses in progress “ An Epic For Our Time ”

( decadence- when a people believe their own hype & propaganda
or when they see their self-created Mythos as being the same as reality )

build a fire to light the night
build a fire to celebrate
build a fire to purify & purge
build a fire for all to rally around
build a fire to burn for eternity
build a fire as a beacon for the faithful
build a fire as a warning to our enemies
build a fire for all the world to see -

now toss in a few books
of which we do not approve
the flames you say are dying
add a few heretics & unbelievers
the odd pagan or two
that should do the trick
add a few more who dare criticize
our society of wealth & splendour
after all we are what we own & no more
dreaming of a mansion on a hill
and a big-ass stretch-limo
& a lover who will impress our friends & family
& a few ill-paid servants
we can use & abuse just for fun
for God blesses the rich
and God scorns the poor
and God hates the inept
the blind the mad & the lame
and God hates the diseased
& the lepers of our time

and God loves the petty & superficial
and God praises the greedy
and God cherishes the killers
and God gives thanks for the torturers
and God loves the slave traders
and God blesses the strong
and God hates the weak & the meek
and God loves a good steak
and a great cappuccino & fine restaurants
that keep out the riff-raff

and God grants absolution to the captains of industry
& the warmongers for they are the children
of a vengeful God -

Bye for now,
