US schools were second rate and they are now about to get worse.
Due to deal Obama has made with the GOP the Republicans The Public schools are in for big cuts in staff laying off thousands of teachers cutting back or ending after school programs and activities , cuts affecting books and other supplies and increased classroom sizes and so forth.
What Obama seems incapable of accepting the reality that The Tea Party gang and the Religious Right are more than happy to destroy or at least gut the American public school system . To make public schools even worse than they are in order to make privatizing schools more acceptable and to make private conservative Christian schools more attractive.
They prefer the government to give out vouchers to be used by parents to send their children to a private school.
So is it reasonable to ask or should we just assume there will be little or no cut back on school vouchers.
They prefer private schools , homeschooling so their kids will not be misguided or brainwashed by in their view the evil secular humanists or progressives and leftists and socialists who have peddled their pernicious anti-capitalist , atheistic, commie,unAmerican views in the nation's classrooms.
Since the 1970s what used to be the extremist right have portrayed the public schools as part of a fifth column out to destroy traditional America.
For them the schools are just another battlefield in the Culture Wars.
In their view the Public Schools should be teaching Judeo-Christian traditional values which would include Bible studies and the teaching of a conservative revisionist history of the United States.
