UPDATE-TYT: Limbaugh's Oil Rig Sabotage Theory & BPs Poor Safety Record & Record Profits & BP's 1953 Coup d'etat In Iran

UPDATE: 3:16 PM, May 13, 2010

"The way BP and its partners responded to the disaster, which began with an explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon on April 20, will also be a matter for investigation.

Survivors have alleged that, after being rescued, they were held at sea while the rig’s owner, Transocean, assembled its lawyers. After being brought ashore, traumatised and exhausted by two nights without sleep, they claim that they were taken to a hotel and “coerced” by Transocean representatives into signing liability waivers before being allowed to see their families. "

( An aside from GORD.sleep deprivation and a dismissive attitude towards any claims of physical and psychological trauma- it is typical that the elite CEO's and Big Whigs still don't believe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which can be caused by other factors other than being in a War Zone.-Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld , Condi Rice poked fun at soldiers claiming PTSD so go figure and using sleep deprivation to get men to sign waivers like the confessions signed by detainees in America's Torture Prisons !!!)

from The Times:Barack Obama plans to punish BP with tax hike as Gulf spill worsens by May 14, 2010

In this video we get a better idea of how big and massive the so-called spill is -the oil slick covers an area of approx. 3000 square miles. What these dozens of boats are doing in their attempts to clean up appears to be more for show and for Public Relations for BP, Halliburton & Transocean.

May 12, 2010 — may 7th fly over of the gulf of mexico BP oil spill. notice NOT A SINGLE OIL BOOM AROUND GROUND ZERO?

Video is from Alabama resident John Wathen as a volunteer pilot flew him over the area where the oil rig sank. Officials have stopped guessing at the amount of oil leaking (although some speculate it may be closer to 1 million gallons per day???).

*Gulf Oil rig The Deepwater Horizon disaster
*Oil companies play the blame game
*BP & Halliburton gross negligence
*Environmental disaster
*A disaster for individuals and for various industries in the affected areas
*BP spends millions on lobbyist in Washington
* and lest we forget BP's Engineering of a Coup d'etat in Iran 1953

Now with the oil disaster in the Gulf we can conclude that as the Bush Regime went rogue so did Big Business and it continues . But the problem is that with deregulation and with Washington either looking away or are also too entangled with Big Business including Oil gas, coal and Wall Street part of the same problem. For many American citizens these owners and CEOs are worshiped as Saints in the American Christian Church of Unfettered Rapacious Capitalism supported by the Tea party gang and the Religious Right.

And here's one of their stooges Rush Limbaugh the agitator making up a conspiracy theory that radical environmentalist blew up the Deepwater Horizon rig. TYT's Cenk Uygur calls him out on this and Limbaugh attacks Cenk and here's Cenks response.

The gist of it is that Rush Limbaugh's on his radio program implies that Obama may have staged the whole thing ie blowing up the rig or somehow allowing some radical bat shit crazy environmentalist to blow up the rig as part of a "black flag operation" as most conspiracy theorists call such super secret men in black doing things that don't make sense . Conspiracy theory consumers seem attracted to more complex theories rather than simpler ones which is the opposite of the scientific method and reasoning .The more elaborate the more convoluted the more labyrinthine the theory is the more appealing it is.

But sometimes there are what could be called conspiracies such as companies doing what they believe is in their interest rather than the public at large. For instance Halliburton's record of corruption in Iraq; over charging; doing a slip-shod job showing not just cheapness but lack of concern for the safety of others or that they were engaged in War Profiteering and should have been held accountable along with the rest of the Bush Regime. And BP and other corporations are not much better.

Riki Ott Marine Toxicologist Riki Ott explains that the oil spill is an environmental disaster but what she learned from the Exxon Valdez it is going to affect the economies of the towns cities and states involved. The Oil Industry has been deregulated and these are the results . .
Halliburton & BP and other oil companies haves managed to get a number of waivers and exemptions from clean air act, clean water act, superfund Act etc.

Oil on their Hands: BP in blame game over worst US eco disaster ever

Greg Palast who investigated the Exxon Vldez which he says ultimately BP was the party responsible -they didn't have the safety and containment crews and equipment ready in case of an accident . They told the government they did have trained crews plus equipment and helicopters standing by -they lied-this is typical of the way BP and other Oil Giants do business-they have little regard for the safety of their workforce or the environment. Greed comes before Safety-that's the American way. To paraphrase right wing extremist Newt Gingrich if you can't afford to drill for oil and abide by the laws and regulations then you shouldn't be drilling an oil well.He said if you can't afford a house don't buy it

also see from Thom Hartman's Blog speculation that workers cut corners to be ready for Big Whig party to be held on the Deepwater Horizon rig on April 20 the day of the explosion ironically the party was to be a celebration for their safety record???:

Was the Gulf Oil Disaster a Result of a BP BigWhig Party? by louisehartmann May 12,2010 Thom's Blog

The Times-Picayune reported last week that an oil worker who survived the April 20 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, that killed 11 people and started a disastrous oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, said a key safety measure was not being implented on the rig.

Lawyer Scott Bickford said his client claims a column of mud was being removed from an exploratory well before it was sealed with a top cement cap -- a move he described as "human error" that may have in turn failed to prevent the deadly explosion.

A statement from cement contractor Halliburton, reported by the New Orleans newspaper, confirmed the top cap was not installed. The column of heavy mud is one of the core defenses relied upon by drillers to prevent explosions.

So they cut corners to get the job done quickly. Here's a question. Have you ever worked in a place where the bigwhigs were coming to town and you had to quickly get everything ready for them?

Remember that there were six senior British Petroleum executives on the oil rig at the time of the explosion, celebrating a recent safety award the company had gotten. Getting senior executives out to an oil rig all at the same time is something that requires some coordinating and planning.

What if the drillers and Halliburton were told that the executives were going to be there on April 20th for the party, and therefore they had to hurry to get the job done? And therefore they skipped the time-consuming step of putting the mud plug in and went straight to the cementing process, apparently the fatal mistake that let the giant methane bubble rush up and explode the rig?
and on how the workers were treated by BP after explosion is of concern since the survivors were no permitted to sleep and then were coerced into signing waivers so they couldn't sue the corporation for any physical or psychological trauma caused by the disaster. Any decent lawyer should know that a contract /waivers etc. signed under duress is an illegal contract and therefore void. Corporations /CEOs claim a contract is always binding and must be obeyed by employees but not by the company or CEOs as in their contracts with employees or with the government & regulatory bodies.

Barack Obama plans to punish BP with tax hike as Gulf spill worsens via The Times May 14, 2010

The way BP and its partners responded to the disaster, which began with an explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon on April 20, will also be a matter for investigation.

According to Steven Gordon, of the Houston legal firm Gordon, Elias and Seely, the waivers are now being used against the workers as they attempt to seek compensation for emerging psychological problems that have left some too afraid to work at sea again.

“These people went through holy hell. They have probably just gone through the most traumatic period of their entire lives. They needed counselling — not ‘Please sign here that you’re not hurt’ ,” said Mr Gordon, who is representing Christopher Choy, a rig worker. “When they asked him to sign this, he hadn’t been allowed to sleep and have his first nightmare.”

Mr Choy, 23, teamed up with a firefighter on the rig to try to rescue a crane operator who was trapped by the fire. “They couldn’t get to him because he was in flames. These guys watched their friends burning,” Mr Gordon told The Times.

Alwin Landry, the captain of a cargo ship that was moored alongside the rig, told a hearing in New Orleans that mud began pouring down on him “like a black rain”, followed by a thunderous hiss. “I saw the green flash on the main deck. Time kind of slowed down. I heard the explosion,” he said, adding that minutes later came a radio call: “Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! The rig’s on fire. Abandon ship.”

and so it goes,
GORD.
